The other day when Atalanta were beating Man UTD a few friends were discussing how funny it was that they were losing.
I said; why is it that when these big teams lose out to smaller opposition the talk is all on what the big team did wrong? What about praise for Atalanta for going 2-0 up?

It went quiet and no one could really answer.

Unless a fan has been through some hardship supporting their club other than when its in the top 6 of the premier league they literally have no respect, or praise for teams that sometimes do well against bigger sides. They see the smaller teams like us as 'nothing' teams just looking to embarrass others. They couldn't care less if we were in the league unless they're guaranteed to beat us every game.

Its a sad state of affairs that football has got like this, it used to be that if the other team did well you'd applaud them. Now its just full of money grabbing assholes represented by egotistical managers who can't take not getting the result they feel they deserve.

I have listened to both interviews in full on the BBC website. One manager comes across as salty and totally disrespectful; the other just oozes class…
Indeed chalk and cheese were they not.

One manager top of the league, one in the relegation spots, but I wonder which of them is likely to get sacked first.......

When you listen to Brentford’s manager last week, polar opposite

I don’t know why he was so shocked at the result anyway. As I mentioned on here last week our away record v Chelsea is not at all bad. I think it’s the best of our away games against the big six. It’s the one I fear least normally.

Now if only we could do a little better at home to them.

A lot of people struggle with the concept of luck, so here's a definition. If the ball hits the post or bar, it's not bad luck it did not go in, it's not a good shot. If someone shoots, the ball is heading for the corner flag, it deflects off another player and goes in, that's lucky. The ref/VARgets a decision wrong, that's lucky if it's in your favour..

Yesterday, our goalkeeper made some magnificent saves, that's not luck, their forwards could only direct four efforts on target, that's a combination of great defending by our lads and poor finishing by the opposition. Burnley scored one well worked goal from five attempts, Vydra found himself onside, unmarked, close to the goal, that's poor defending. Chelsea scored one from 25, Burnley's conversion rate was far superior..

As far as I could see from the highlights only, yesterdays result had nothing to do with luck.

The interviewer set up the conversation with his first line :
I imagine Thomas there's a whole lot of frustration from you because you had enough chances to win two games.

TT:
It's not so much frustration, I'm impressed and very happy with the performance. To step up like this from the first to the last minute shows the character and the quality of the team. I'm very very happy how we played as a team, how we created chances.

To play Burnley you need to do a lot of invisible work, be very very alert, very concentration, never lose focus. You need to work hard up front to never allow the balls to come into your box. we did everything right instead of scoring. We could have scored the second one, third one, the second one would have closed the game and we left the door open that's why it can happen sometimes in football, it's not deserved, but it can happen in football, maybe only in football, that's why everyone loves the game.

My interpretation of that is that he acknowledges that Burnley are a hard team to play against, it was a challenge, Burnley had few chances and scored from one but that's football. There's no arrogance in that. It's a statement of fact. He also mentioned that they got lucky against Brentford who had 7 shots on target and didn't score.

He accepts that they got punished for a lack of concentration and that's the way it is sometimes. The interviewer was the one pushing to say, you should have smashed Burnley like you did Norwich.

Taking from that interview that he said Burnley were lucky is not doing him justice and is a clickbait headline. Sadly a lot of people never bother to read the articles and just base their outrage on the headlines when he was actually quite complimentary about Burnley.

Tbf getting praise from opposition managers is a bonus. Their primary audience is their own club and fans. I don’t think he was particularly disrespectful. Their approach play was fantastic but we defended so well that a lot of their chances were actually quite difficult, because we generally had defenders and goalkeeper in the right places so the target for the attacking players was often very small….back to us doing what we do best.

He played well yesterday, but his missing of a sitter from 6 yards was a major turning point in the match, and after that we seemed to get a renewed sense of belief that we could get something, which we duly did.

For club's of Burnley's standing to get a result at somewhere like Chelsea you need your keeper to have a blinder, which Pope did, defend well in the main, which we did, and also have the opposition squander some clear cut chances, which Chelsea did, then when you get the chance you need to capitalise, which we also did.

He'd still be a fantastic addition to our team everyone misses a sitter now and then,it's only a pipe dream of mineTiger,Barkley will be wanted by quite a few in January and I should imagine our chances if him coming to us are ...nil.☹

I think the German said something cowardly under his mask at the end.

I saw Dyche turn back and tell him to "jog on"

To be fair to Barkley he got in a position to miss a sitter, something our midfield never do.

Don’t think the Barkley miss was the sitter it is being made out to be, and it certainly wasn’t from as close as 6 yards or anything like the Sterling open goal miss. The miss looked worse because of how high it was spooned over the bar.

Barkley wasn't happy getting subbed yesterday and had a little spat with his manager.
Tuchel seemed to pull Barkley in for a hug as he left the field and Barkley pulled his hand away and went past him muttering to himself.

He was getting subbed before his miss but it probably looked like he got subbed because of it to the player.

He will still be available in Jan.

As regards the celebration in front of Sean Dyche, it would have been quite apt for our manager to have gone face to face with Tuchel at the end and screamed 'how do you like them apples, sunshine!',

I'd love to see the so called bigger managers like tuchel managing burnley and putting up with the shite we have to. I also think its cringe the way he celebrated the goal... I'd be embarrassed having such a squad and celebrating like that against a team like burnley. There all Mard arses

Chris Boden's response to the Chelsea cry arses on Twitter.
'3 draws and a win in 7 visits to Chelsea but lucky everytime apparently.
104 consecutive PL games without a red card, but lucky again.
Lucky to be in the PL.
Lucky to get to the Europa League.
Lucky to finish top 10 in 2 seasons out of 3.
Just really lucky.

Sheer luck?
Let me check.....(watches the full 90 mins again)....

No. Pope did a great save for that one.
Nope, great block by Charlie T.
Fabulous defending from Tarks for that one.
Nope, Chelsea player fluffed that one.
No. Great save from Nick there.
Chelsea player headed wide. Must have a head like a threepenny bit.
Chelsea player missed the nets again.
Taylor getting stuck in for that one. Good play.
Barkley! How useless was that shot?
(....and so on up to the last 10 mins or so....)
Great defending from Burnley there. Good teamwork.
Great cross from Westwood. Nice head down from Jay. Vydra shoots ...on target...goalkeeper misses it....it’s a goal.
Totting everything up, Chelsea scored no more than Burnley. No luck involved.

An outstanding team effort, but we were lucky and definitely stole a point. Nothing wrong with that against a side of Chelsea's calibre.

If we battered a team like that and conceded late on, I wouldn't expect Dyche or anyone else to be singing the praises of the opposition. Not many recognised Brighton's effort when they did a job on us for example..

I think Tuchal lacked class all afternoon, but he wasn't entirely wrong in his assessment. 99 times out of 100 we would have got nothing despite all the effort. We needed that bit of luck too.
