Abu Dhabi F1
The Decider in the Desert is underway with Q1 currently happening, Mercedes should have the edge in qualifying but after a great season with many differing opinions, let's hope the title is decided on the track and not in the stewards room.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Oooh Max on Pole......will Hamilton try and take him out on the first corner??
Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Stunning performance by Verstappen and Norris
Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Not sure why he would?ClaretDiver wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 2:04 pmOooh Max on Pole......will Hamilton try and take him out on the first corner??
Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Verstappen a likely winner then, unless the pitting and safety car has an effect.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Pole usually converts to race win in Abu Dhabi but with Max on the softs and Lewis on the mediums, it adds an extra layer of intrigue into the race.
Lights out at 1pm tomorrow.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Indeed am intriguing race. The track changes could have an effect also but I think Lewis and Mercedes who between them seem To look after their tyres better than anyone else. I think a Hamilton will pass through the pits.
Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Exciting race awaits I think. Lewis will want to ensure he keeps Max within distance then hope the mediums v softs play out.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Either:
Max has to stop twice due to starting on softs and Lewis stops once on a Med/Hard strategy so advantage Lewis or
Max manages to make a Soft/Hard strategy work and Lewis changes to Hards much later and has fresher tyres at the end and he chases Max down
There will be countless twists and turns no doubt, safety cars, red flags etc like the last race but despite starting second I make Lewis favourite to win the race and the title.

Come on Lewis. Gutted I’m going to miss this. Anyone know if it’ll be on in the fanzone/park view?
Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Will be recording it and watching when I return from turf and hoping I do not hear the result beforehand. Been a brilliant F1 season.

Just had a cheeky fiver on each of Bottas, Perez or Lando winning today, just incase i'm disappointed by Max wiping Lewis out.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
It's different this time because RB might have to go for a two-stop strategy or go very long on bad types in one of two stints on a one-stop strategy, because both RB are aterting on softs.claretburns wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 2:40 pmPole usually converts to race win in Abu Dhabi but with Max on the softs and Lewis on the mediums, it adds an extra layer of intrigue into the race.

I think if both Max and Lewis finish the race then Lewis will be ahead of Max.

I’ve just seen that Channel 4 are broadcasting the Sky coverage for free so I’ll watch first hour, then Burnley then nip over to C4 +1. Hoping I’ll catch the end.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
When is Max going to learn. You can't divebomb, force the opponent off and then claim the position.
Re: Abu Dhabi F1
A sensible decision by the stewards. Max knew exactly what he was doing. No amount of whinging by Red Bull will change it.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Correct decision there. Max was never making that corner without running Lewis off the track again. He had nowhere else to go, couldn't turn in as Max had dived from so far back.

Lewis is maintaining a 2 second game on the slower tyre.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
I cant see the argument.
I get that Max made the inside and stayed on the track, but he turned so late that Lewis had no option but to go off the track. He couldn't park it up and be hit from behind.
Surely there is a difference between leaving the track voluntarily to gain an advantage, and being forced off and getting punished for it.

If Verstappen ends up winning this championship he owes 49% of it to Perez.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
I'm still nervous of shenanigans involving an SC, like Perez parking it somewhere strategic. I'm hoping Perez and Horner are bigger than that, and i think they are. But still... it's happened before.

I don't think Hamilton's going to win this without Max making a mistake. This is going to be very tight.

Verstappen was never going to catch Hamilton without the safety car. If they allow the lapped cars to go through then we probably wouldn't get another racing lap.

Don't be upset boys and girls, there won't be a court case etc.
It's done, Max won and he didn't even have to crash into Lewis to do it despite some of you thinking he would.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
A massive disgrace rules bent to suit Red Bull, the first VSC wouldn't have been needed if the retired car had parked right.

Re: Abu Dhabi F1
Quite impressed myself, I'd been assuming that the FIA were going to have to re-use the Nigel Mansell 'tyres blowing-up on the last lap' script to achieve an exciting finish; I really can't understand why folks get so upset/annoyed/surprised by the twists and turns of F1 racing, the sport's long been as scripted/staged as professional wrestling
