Declan Rice
What a performance by this guy-like a Rolls Royce, and can now see why pundits rave about him.His second half runs into our box were unreal. One of the nearest players I have seen to Martin Dobson in his prime

Re: Declan Rice
He’s going to be some player, already is. Only 22 but strides around the pitch like he owns the place.

Re: Declan Rice
Got to admit, I thought he was an overrated runaround Charlie when he first plopped onto the scene.
That may have been the case back then but since Moyes has been back at West Ham there is real purpose to his game and he looks very good indeed.

A very good player who stood out in a poor display from the Hammers today.

Think Southgate and the England set up can take a lot of credit around how he's developed and grown as a player and a person these last few years

I've seen him on the Turf more than once and wondered what on earth people were going on about. I know now, simply outstanding today.

Outplayed by our midfield in the first half. Far better in the second and enjoying his best ever season.

Re: Declan Rice
Have to say, I thought he had a quiet game.
Also couldn’t understand why JRod didn’t go and sit on him when West Ham had the ball. We seemed to want to give him freedom of t’turf!

Re: Declan Rice
Rice is way better than Philips imho
I'm expecting Man United to offer 85+ for Rice in the summer and a similar amount for Jude Bellingham

Against a mediocre midfield did not look outstanding

Re: Declan Rice
He looked really good today, whereas for England he looks average to poor most of the time. Today he stood out in a poor West Ham display and against a very powder puff Clarets midfield, so it's difficult to judge him tbh. But as I say, he definitely looked head and shoulders above everyone else.

He’s been really average / anonymous on previous visits to the Turf, easily the best player on the pitch today, looks to have a bit of everything.

Re: Declan Rice
Well, for England he does the job Gareth requires. Certainly doesn't have licence to carry the ball as he did today.

Re: Declan Rice
Must admit we made a few of the WHU players look mediocre today-Antonio, Bowen and Benrahma, Souchel, Coufal, Lansini. Declan Rice most certainly was not one of them. One of the best players I have seen in a long time that caught my eye. A future England captain

Re: Declan Rice
I agree, for England though he’s more of a holding midfielder today he’s exactly what I like about a midfielder, box to box. Outstanding for the Hammers today.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 10:09 pmWell, for England he does the job Gareth requires. Certainly doesn't have licence to carry the ball as he did today.

Re: Declan Rice
Quality today. Showed why he’s a shoe in for England. Only 22, he will go on to better things I’m sure.
Re: Declan Rice
He’s a very good player and always comes across very well in interviews. Reminds me of nick pope in interviews for some reason.
West Ham should build their team around him

Second half we gave him the freedom of the Turf and he made some good runs: But he still couldn't find the winner could he?

He run straight through the middle. Super talent, I thought he was excellent in the Euros. Silly Chelsea to lose such a wonderful player.
Re: Declan Rice
He was a class act today and stood out a mile it was his box to box engine that impressed me most and he is up their with Fabregas, Hazard, Modric, Gerrard, Van Dijk, De Bruyne and Kante as best opposition players that I have seen on the Turf

Re: Declan Rice
Completely agree. I always think he’s been anonymous against us, and I’ve already seen how good he’s been this season, but today he really showed his class.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 9:41 pmI've seen him on the Turf more than once and wondered what on earth people were going on about. Re: Declan Rice
Good player and shows what we are missing but doesn’t have the craft of Scholes nor does he have the all round game of Gerrard or Lampard. That’s the level to be comparing him to.
Re: Declan Rice
He played well today.
Here is his praise for Nick Pope.

Re: Declan Rice
Very good player made to look incredible by our poor midfield, Cork made him look like Usain Bolt, was funny to see Cork lose a 80/20 in his favour with a 500m head start.

By all accounts Chelsea are buying him back next summer for £100m, Kante's long term replacement I'll wager.SouthLondonexile wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 10:48 pmHe run straight through the middle. Super talent, I thought he was excellent in the Euros. Silly Chelsea to lose such a wonderful player.

Re: Declan Rice
Exactly how I feel about him,you have to able to get near what they what these 3 can do to be worth the figures and quoted.Best player yesterday was excellent, but I’m not getting carried away with him.Was pretty average at the euros I thought.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 11:38 pmGood player and shows what we are missing but doesn’t have the craft of Scholes nor does he have the all round game of Gerrard or Lampard. Re: Declan Rice
He’s turned into an outstanding player. Excellent performance yesterday from him
Re: Declan Rice
Like many, went into the match wondering what the hype was all about. He has been poor at t’Turf. Yesterday was a Steven Gerrard type performance. Great defensively and their most threatening player going forward. Best performance by any player I’ve seen live this year.

Re: Declan Rice
Quality player, that said compared to our midfield efforts any player would look world class.

Re: Declan Rice
Having seen him at the Turf Sunday live (rather than TV) have shown me the qualities he possesses and why Southgate had the vision to cap him for England when he had previously represented ROI
Re: Declan Rice
Outstanding player and Moyes I think was right to say ‘clubs missed out in the summer when he was available for 100m’.
Rice and Bellingham have the potential to be a very powerful midfield for England for years to come.
