Winter gloves
My dad suffers from Raynaud's when his hands are cold. Can anyone recommend a pair of gloves that will keep his hands warm while out walking in winter or sat on t'Turf? Our kid bought him a new pair of gloves for Christmas, but they are worse than his old pair. I've looked on Amazon, and it becomes a minefield when you start reading through the reviews.

How about something like this?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/HotHands-836-8 ... r=1-1&th=1
4 positive reviews mention Raynaud.
"Excellent product - a great comfort for Raynauds Syndrome sufferers.. "
"These are great if you suffer from Raynauds. I have a packet in my handbag and some in my car just in case I get an attack. Strongly recommend. They stay hot for ages and if you have left them alone for a while can bring back to life by holding in your hand or up against something hot. see less "
"Bought one pack of these for my husband to try. He has Raynauds and his hands are always absolutely freezing. They lay in the drawer for a month as he was sceptical and I kept saying to try them. Last night he was so cold I just got them and stuck them in his hands. Well they worked and he couldn't' believe the difference they made. He is now a convert and doesn't want to be without them. We have now ordered the 40 pairs box see less "
"I have very bad Raynauds Disease so get white fingers very easily and always need to make sure I have gloves with me wherever I go. Even in Summer sometimes when it turns a bit chill :-/ I have tried many different hand warmers of the years and to date these are the best I have had. They stay warm for ages - Easily 8 hours - and if you leave them in your gloves they get almost too hot to be comfortable - a plus point not a negative ! - I wold recommend these to anybody who suffers with cold hands. see less "

Re: Winter gloves
Try layers. You can get a pair of thin silk gloves to wear under some warm gloves like the thinsulate ones.

Re: Winter gloves
Personally wear SealSkinz gloves in the winter for dog walking or hiking, warm and waterproof. Wide range so check the description.
Also Trekmates which usually come in slightly cheaper.
Not sure if they'll help with your dad's condition. They are bulky compared to the cotton style gloves.

Re: Winter gloves
These are my fingers after just a few seconds outside without gloves. Raynauds is a horrible condition, not helped by freezing cold water and cold air dryers in the Gents at TM.
I wear silk glove liners (about £15 a pair) plus some fur lined thick leather gloves from North Face (which were about £150 a pair) I’ve tried woollen gloves and the Thinsulate type, neither helped. Sadly, the tablets which also help are currently unavailable.

Re: Winter gloves
I'm also a sufferer of Raynauds and have spent quite a bit on different items, with little success. I presently have a flat flask, which fits on the palm of each hand. You pour petrol into it, then heat the wick, before placing a lid on it. Like the othe suggestions, it works well, but only the palms of the hands benefit. Mittens are better than gloves, in as much as it's easier to get your fingers around items heating your hands.

Would these be any good? I bought them for Lapland. You just squeeze them in your hands and they heat up

Re: Winter gloves
I also suffer this condition, I got a pair of heated gloves plenty out there on amazon and fleabay which are great when out and about, I also have a petrol hand warmer as mentioned above which provide hours of warmth but is usually in my pocket so useless until your hand is in there with it. I found taking a daily dose of grapeseed extract helped to lessen the condition slightly it seems to make the trigger temperature slightly lower.

Re: Winter gloves
I find a pair of Golf "Mittens" over standard gloves works well against cold.
I also agree with Thinsulate being a good option
I don't however have Raynauds which looks awful from the picture above

Re: Winter gloves
Cheers for all the info. I'll probably buy him some good quality winter gloves and some silk liners. By the way, is silk better than silver thread?
