looks good on the video clips, not sure he'll get so much space/time in the premier league mind.. some 'woeful defending' on some of those!

Sevilla also interested
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I thought of Defour when I was watching him. I guess time will tell.
As you mentioned, the very fact we are interested in these sorts of players is nice to see and a positive. I hear the Sunderland lad if we sign him, we'll loan him back to them - IF we did drop down this season, we're bringing players in who would be the best players in the Championship for the 1 season we're down there.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I'd go to Spurs for Winks and Sessegnon.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Conte has just said Winks is going nowhere

I could come up with fancier names but I think it's vital we bring in a couple of experienced younger players who wont take time to adapt.

I bloody hope you’re right. And I’ll take it because a month of hope followed by disappointment is better than a month of no hope and the same disappointment.BenWickes wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 12:40 pmAll I will say is, as I did last January. There'll be surprises. Good surprises.
I have been not only bang on accurate with telling you this I've been astonishingly accurate but can tell you now. There will be signings and some of those are going to top Cornet's signing. Don't be surprisedto see our transfer record broken a couple of times.
I'll leave it at that.
My information has proven itself to be bob on when most of you laughed it off.
But not sure what you mean by “as I did last January” since we didn’t sign anyone last January?

Cannot see Dyche wanting Fulgini, known to give the ball away a lot. Feels like we need more of a Defour with ball retention, craft and finishing ability. Possible if the deep lying number 10 like we used at Man U is the future for us, with two behind but as I say I doubt he is Sean’s cup of tea.
Can see Fulgini going to Fulham who were sniffing around.

The other problem might lie with work permit issues, he's not a full international from what I have read, or does that not matter these days?CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 6:34 pmCannot see Dyche wanting Fulgini, known to give the ball away a lot. However much money Eddie spends he has never been a successive manager of good defensive play

Indeed! it's one thing buying the players, it's quite another moulding them into a team, and EH and Newcastle don't have the luxury of time either, they need their new signings to make an instant impact, which isn't always easy in the PL.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 6:58 pmHowever much money Eddie spends he has never been a successive manager of good defensive play

Is Fulgini not going to be involved in the ANC, or would we be working with his agent

You do realise what you're letting yourself in for on this board if these signings don't transpireBenWickes wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 12:40 pmAll I will say is, as I did last January. There'll be surprises. Good surprises.

The Fulgini one is a weird one because there’s been so much written about him before the window, you’d think there is at least a hint of truth in it, but then he doesn’t seem the type we’d be trying to sign. Clearly a good attacking midfielder, but even when we play 4411 we tend to go with a quick, agile 10 to get on the end of flick ons.
He looks a class player mind, I’d be very pleased if we get someone like him.

I think it's overdue that we stopped "flick-ons" as an attacking play.
They do not work.

I'll be surprised if Ranieri is still the Hornets manager in a few days.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 8:17 pmThe Athletic have just posted the following;

Can't comment on any of those players mentioned as they aren't familiar to me.

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We tried to sign Fulgini in the summer. We met Angers asking price outbidding Feyenoord and as with Cornet personal terms agreed
The issue as always is that other clubs are likely to enter the race - match/better our terms and be a more attractive proposition for the player
The edge we have - assuming we still want to go ahead - is that all of the financial arrangements are in place.
So if it is going to happen assume we will want to get a deal done early rather than wait and then miss out on this plus possible secondary targets

Interesting
I know Willie McKay is a fairly popular agent for French footballers so probably something in it
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
It seems the case with Watford that any manager has no say in who they sign, but has to make the best of what they are given.
