Just reading an article on Football Hooliganism and came across the following:
"‘Ultras’ describes fanatical support offered by supporters to their club regardless of the club’s results, weather, quality of play, etc."
That kind of sums me up, but some prefer the watered down term of "Happy Clapper"

No doubt about it rcc, you’re a proper ultra.
Your fanatical support of the members of this forum with the time and effort you put into keeping us entertained during lockdown with spot the ball.
Smashing, loved it from start to finish so thanks again.

when you consider Napoli. Lazio and Marseille's ultra's attacked their own training grounds I would say the definition is debatable

I could be a candidate considering I only live a stones throw from our own Barnfield Training Camp. Come to think of it, I could throw some stones rather than a direct personal assault on the facility.
If the pavements are Icy I may need to postpone my incursion until Spring.

Unfortunately “Happy clapper” as become a derogatory term, used to put down those who wish to be positive.

As has “Bed Wetter” for those with a different opinion. Swings and roundabouts.

I'm a "skulka", driving to and from games from Staffordshire - well, when we used to play matches - a pretend fan, according to some on here, because I don't actually live in the area.

Those clowns create a better atmosphere than anything at the Turf. Our fans are dreadful.

Mostly it's not true about Ultras anyway. Italian fans are very fickle and riven with politics.
Lazio gates vary between 60,000 and 20,000 and the Ultras are often boycotting the team or falling out with the club.
Saying that a big game at the Olimpico or San Siro is a real treat in terms of noise and atmosphere
