Fair comment, however he will offer us something completely different.
He looks quick, direct and physical. If we can play to his strengths like we did Gray in the championship it will be a good signing.
I think it sounds like a perm signing? I know original links showed a loan but it sounds like a perm deal to mejedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 2:18 pmTake Guirassy as a loan, we have no pace up front. Worth a gamble and wouldn’t be someone we’re lumbered with if we drop.
I like the fact Fofana is still a target but I feel if we wait till the summer it will be all over. Still, the fact it's gone relatively quiet about him for a week or two gives me a little hope we are working behind the scenes to get this one done!HyperClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 1:03 pmAndy Jones just about keeping my dwindling hopes alive, damn him![]()
Yeah Azmoun + Orsic then a centre mid on loan would be unreal. Cornet returning too, I’d be confident of stopping up. But sounds like the first two mentioned there are more on the unlikely end of the scale…Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 2:39 pmWe’ve had a lot of good links to be fair. Guirrassy has obviously done well before and he’s big and strong, looks to hold the ball up a lot better than Wood anyway. Azmoun looks class, looks a complete striker. Fofana as well, looks a very good box to box. Orsic has a great scoring record. I like the look of azmoun and fofana the most personally.
If we survive no problem who are we pulling in besides Norwich & Watford or are you saying by then we will have a stronger squad than Newcastle like for like bearing in mind they haven’t finished strengthening?KRBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 2:51 pmI'd be amazed if we got Azmoun, would be a bigger coup than Cornet.
Orsic would be a top signing too but he's an attacking winger, convert to central role?
Fofana is obviously the dream but that was never gonna happen.
I have no idea about Guirrassy.
2 or 3 of those and a central midfielder on loan and we survive comfortably no question
There’s throwing money at some targets that you have been planning for and then there’s desperately throwing money at a player that you have previously rejected because you aren’t getting any players in!Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 1:45 pmJealousy will get us nowhere, show some class if the boot was on the other foot we’d be throwing money at it.
We will finish on more points than Norwich, Watford and Newcastle.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 2:58 pmIf we survive no problem who are we pulling in besides Norwich & Watford or are you saying by then we will have a stronger squad than Newcastle like for like bearing in mind they haven’t finished strengthening?
Possible and you could also add Everton to that list, for all the panic merchants it's worth remembering we've got lots of games in hand on those immediately above us, and it's difficult not to see us picking up some points out of those matches.
In for who ?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 3:39 pmApparently Fabrizio has said we are in for him on twitch
Wouldn’t say Leeds & Newcastle & Brighton are the “big boys” we have drawn the game against norwich & yet to play the other teams around us, it’s only to be expected we will lose against the bigger sides but we aren’t really doing that well against the smaller sides, the games in hand are the only positive & that’s on the proviso we actually do something with them.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 3:40 pmPossible and you could also add Everton to that list, for all the panic merchants it's worth remembering we've got lots of games in hand on those immediately above us, and it's difficult not to see us picking up some points out of those matches.
We've only won 1 game that's true, but we've only lost 8 in 17, and our defeats are mainly to the big boys, so sort out our form against the lesser sides, and crucially turn those draws into wins, and we've got every chance, as none of those 4 sides are massively superior to us, it's just a case of getting a win on the board, then hopefully we'll embark on a run again.
I did say mainly to the big boys, and Brighton are doing well this season as well, the damaging defeats were at Leeds and Newcastle, and drawing games against the mid-table sides that we should have won, obviously we aren't faring well against the smaller sides, and if we don't quickly remedy that then we will deserve to go down, however there's still lots of footy to be played yet, and Norwich have illustrated just what putting back-to-back wins together can do to any teams hopes.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 3:47 pmWouldn’t say Leeds & Newcastle & Brighton are the “big boys” we have drawn the game against norwich & yet to play the other teams around us, it’s only to be expected we will lose against the bigger sides but we aren’t really doing that well against the smaller sides, the games in hand are the only positive & that’s on the proviso we actually do something with them.
Hopefully we can scrape survival but not really surprising some supporters think we are likely to go down. Indeed, I think you recently said quite definitively we'd be relegated presumably in a bit of a panic, which of course was understandable.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 3:40 pmPossible and you could also add Everton to that list, for all the panic merchants it's worth remembering we've got lots of games in hand on those immediately above us, and it's difficult not to see us picking up some points out of those matches.

Just watched a “welcome to AC Milan” video. Looks very direct and right-footed, which is what I’ve been crying out for.
I mean if we are bidding you’d think there’s a reason.Culmclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 5:52 pmDid anyone really think we would sign Azmoun….seriously?
Was reported by 4/5 reliable outlets tbfNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 5:58 pmI would be surprised if we were ever interested.
More than likely just paper talk
Ah I see. Fair enough then.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:01 pmHe's signed for the start of next season, which does rather suggest that he's been planning to move when out of contract rather than be sold in this window
We almost certainly made an offer I suspect, and Zenit would encourage such offers, but it is up to the player, and its is what it is
Yes there doing a class jobVegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:07 pmanyone else gutted that Pace and Co weren't in charge when we finished 7th, we sure as **** wouldn't be facing relegation now
I know you’re anti Pace for whatever reason but he’s got a point. We would have done far better recruitment from that point on, it was a really great chance to attract good players with European football on offer.
That's fair enough but that was well known and I was kind of hoping if we bid knowung that then there was a fair chance we might turn his head. Makes me wonder if this was just bullshit smokescreen all along (or simply desperation)Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:01 pmHe's signed for the start of next season, which does rather suggest that he's been planning to move when out of contract rather than be sold in this window

Completely agree. That was the watershed moment. As Jermaine Defoe popped the ball into our net the end of our last game of 2017/18, I thought to myself that this was our real opportunity to build something sustainable exciting, by attracting good young players to the club. For whatever reason we just let that opportunity slip
