Where is the money coming from if we are trying to sign players of his level?

United to loan him to a club that poses no risk to them, and help relegate Newcastle who would undoubtedly be an immediate Top 6 challenger next season?

There could be an argument that the 12 million bonus for Lingard was Newcastle only. Plus they will be a big threat to the top teams next season if they stay up. It would be in Utd's interest to loan him to us over Newcastle

Sure I read an article a few months back which said how involved he was with his family and looking after his younger siblings. Could be something in staying local, putting himself in the window for a few months before his big move in the summer?

Hammers News is reporting our interest in Weghorst and saying it would be a coup for us to get him, as Moyes has also shown interest previously.

Having watched the compulsory video of Weghorst I couldn't help but notice that he stayed onside on at least one occasion, which is always a bonus.

Both Orsic & Weghorst would represent clever signings. Their ages mean many clubs would probably overlook them in preference for a younger more up and coming type with potential re-sale value rather than a player who's physically/technically not going to improve much. In similar mould to Defour whose big move never came, we are providing them an opportunity they might never be offered again, to play in the EPL and probably earn more cash than they are currently on.

From our point of view, we get 2 experienced players, proven themselves at their respective levels previously, who can immediately provide something to the first team. I like it.

Athletic reporting we are confident of completing a deal with Wolfsburg for Weghorst. Bid made and negotiating personal terms. Also that there are few complications with Orsic regarding agreeing the fee with Dinamo but the player has said his goodbyes to staff there and wants the move.

Reading between the lines, it can only be that they want the cash in one go, but we want instalments. Considering it's only a reported 7 million, it would be pretty sad if we can't afford to stump up that amount, especially after Chris Wood has gone.

The 'big 6' see Newcastle as a serious threat to their positions so I can imagine will squeeze them for everything they've got over any transfers to help.
