Worth a look - it might explain why we didn't get Orsic.

I'm gutted for Pace tbh, obviously put a lot of time and effort into it only to get screwed at the end of it.

Wow that’s some story.
An utterly corrupt club and owner.

Maybe a bit of naivety on our part to even contemplate getting a deal done. He did seem very cheap.

TBH you can forget the credibility of this bloke after three seconds:

"Dinamo Zagreb are the best supported team in Croatia".

They're not. Far more people go to see Hajduk Split than Dinamo.

If you look at HNL (league games) you'll see they've only managed to get 6,000 or more twice this season whereas Hajduk have had five gates of 6K or more including one match (v Osijek) with 30,000.

I was keen for us to try to exploit the foreign markets looking for better value players, it seems it can be a bit of a minefield.!!!! Glad I don't have to deal with it.

Up the Clarets.

The Saudi’s have invested heavily in Newcastle and will do everything in their power to ensure that their asset stays in the top flight. It’s not beyond the realms of the imagination to see their hand in our recent dealings with DZ - a club that, according to this article, is open to corruption.

Said this on another thread that it wouldn’t surprise me if some money changed hands, if they are as corrupt as reports suggest. Great deal for them getting paid to keep a player.

Either way, not having that Orsic didn’t want the move.

I think these Newcastle conspiracy theories are being taken a bit too far.

I didn’t say I think it happened, just that I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. There’s a lot of corrupt people out there and these brothers/the Saudi’s fall in to that category.

The odd thing being with our interest in buying a player off them is exactly what they want.
Whether that money is paid into a Swiss bank, in brown envelopes or the bank of Croatia is an irrelevance.

Whilst I make no allegations against anyone, I have witnessed corruption in Eastern Europe and the Balkans that is almost a way of life. Obviously, professional football clubs would not engage in such activity :o

Hang on, some people think that Newcastle could have paid Dinamo Zagreb to stop us signing Orsic?

I posted it on a thread yesterday but not seriously. It did get me thinking though, are there any rules to stop this sort of thing from happening?
