Unfortunately it will just be confirming Weghorst signing. It's a good signing but not enough in our position. Fingers crossed that rabbit jumps out of the hat.

Burnley enter Origi race?
Burnley have turned their attention to signing Liverpool striker Divock Origi, claims The Sun.
The 26-year-old Belgium international, who has been attracted interested from Fiorentina and Atalanta in Serie A, has just six months left to run on his current deal at Anfield.
Liverpool will not stand Origi’s way if a suitable offer is received, with Burnley keen to bring him to Turf Moor as they search for a replacement for Chris Wood.
This would be nuts. Far too good for Burnley, but just imagine...

As regards Derby - according to Simon Stone on the BBC earlier this morning the administrators have told Rooney that they do not need to sell any players today

For any Arsenal players betting it took until page 120 of this thread before our 1st signing was confirmed.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:05 amThoughts and prayers with the "we are going to sign no one and Pace is going to pocket all the money" lot at this time

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I am not convinced the EPL is much better than the Bundesliga.Jamesy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 10:29 amYou are correct if we are only signing Weghorst. At the start of January when the window opened, many of us were saying we needed two midfielders and possibly a striker. We then had the surprise of our main striker departing to a relegation rival, albeit for a decent transfer fee.
Now it looks like just Weghorst is coming in to a league which is far tougher than the one he will be leaving. It could take him several games to even get used to the pace of the Premier League and also be facing better defences. Without having players who can put their foot on the ball to give him decent service he will be feeding off scraps or poor balls hoofed up to him from players who treat the ball like it is a hot potato.
So one month on we now look considerably weaker than we did at the beginning of January. Yes we put up a good rearguard action against a mis firing Arsenal, however let’s not kid ourselves we can do this week in week out. The only real positive is the club will have made circa fifteen million in the transfer window. Sadly I am not optimistic about our survival chances. I sincerely hope I am wrong.

To be fair it’s probably just the signing we made, but the timing seems strange.

Pleased with Wout without a doubt. We are clearly shopping in the right markets now.
We need more than just to replace Chris Wood to stand a chance of survival though. If we can add a quality midfielder I will be happy with our business.

Weghorst is a very, very good player.
The problem is that without the service it won't matter.
We are still in the position we entered the window in, needing 1-2 central midfielders and a winger, and ideally an extra striker. Weghorst may be a thrifty upgrade but this is still the reality.
And no I am not saying that 5 or even 3signings were my expectations. But CM/winger/1 more of CM/striker was what we needed on January 1, and still is right now.
Delighted with Wout but fear it's not enough because he doesn't solve our problems single handed.

I’m not having that we’ve not created enough chances this year. We’ve created clear cut chances in every game. Our issues are:spt_claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:33 amWeghorst is a very, very good player.

- not sticking them away
- not enough contribution from our midfield when we’re not
I agree the latter could be solved by strengthening in midfield, but also a more forward-thinking midfielder may leave us exposed at the back and concede more than he scores.
A second striker would be my preference over an attacking midfielder, with Cornet moving right where he’s delivered his best career stats.

Don't forget Maxwel Cornet is back with the squad tomorrow. Who'd have thought back when the season started that Burnley would have two new attacking players for the second half of the season, one from the French top division and an international with Cote D'Ivoire and the other from the German top division and an international with the Netherlands? These are big changes for Burnley.spt_claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:33 amWeghorst is a very, very good player.

Of course, another first team starter would be great.
