We've got a few posters on here who are happy enough to see the club fail if it gives them an opportunity to read some "bed wetting" and "meltdown" content on here.
Peculiar.

A club our size always needs to make a profit.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:55 pmGenuine question...is making a profit a good thing in this window ?
I wish we could have got another couple of players in for sure, but making 13m profit and replacing Wood with a better player is superb from the club.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
As it stands 4/10, Wood wanted out, and his performances latterly have been terrible, so good to move him on for decent money.
Weghorst sounds like an upgrade, but he's unproven at PL level, and we've yet again failed to address the key areas of CM & RW.
On the plus side we've kept hold of Tarks, but an average to poor window at best unless we yet get a late surprise.
Orsic was a blow, but we should have had a back-up plan in place.

1/10.
Dreadful and simply not good enough. A blind man on a galloping horse can see where we need to strengthen but the powers that be seemingly can’t.

On the face of it, i suppose it could look like that.
Alternatively it could also look like a thinly veiled attempt at starting a thread designed to show that ALK have no real interest in strengthening the playing staff, and inviting posters to slate them.

3/10 for execution

I very much doubt that.
We have these threads after every window and have done for years.

2/10. We’ve sold a proven PL goalscorer with someone who’s not proven. At least we’ve got 12m to service the MSD debt.

On its own it’s about a 6/10 . As we’ve signed a quality CF and still got 12m . Though we’re literally gasping for a quality CM or Right winger . Gives us some hope though and Cornet has a bit of quality to work with

Transfer windows are like icebergs.
They might sink your season.
And maybe most of the work was beyond our vision and might not be felt until the following transfer window.
If we were to bring in summer targets that we've encouraged during this window it might have been time well spent.
If we happen to be in the Championship, it will have been a failure.

To be quite honest i dont lose any sleep over transfer windows. If we buy players fair enough,if we dont it doesnt upset me.I will judge the season when we have played 38 games and when we have caught up our games in hand.I will be there on Saturday and also next season whatever league we are in.The last few years have been great from a point of view of seeing some of the best players around. Its not always as enjoyable watching a team playing to avoid relegation every year.If we finish up in the Championship at least we will have something to play for.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
Fair enough, but the OP makes some statements that i'm a little uneasy with.
With no further transfers looking likely and MSD getting a nice early advance on their loan repayment They wanted Orsic, not to settle loans, surely we can all see the effort put in to try to get him here?
Think Garlick would’ve been slated completely for this month but Pace seems to have had a lot easier ride. Garlick would've been slated, because it's likely given his form that we wouldn't have managed to replace Wood. Would Garlick have flown ANYWHERE to try to secure the services of a decent player? Pace has, and maybe that's why he's being cut some slack by some of us.
Has to go down as a 3/10 when we’ve traded an established PL striker for an untested one We didn't trade anyone, we had no choice in what happened regarding Wood going to Newcastle, suggesting it was a trade paints a picture in people heads that just isn't true. Your statement makes it sound like a done deal that we are worse off here losing Wood and getting Weghorst?
And as if by magic, along comes Denno....

The facts are these... the last two windows have seen movement by us. We didn't get Orsic, but by all accounts it was close and we had done everything we possibly could to get him.
Garlick did nothing whatsoever for far too long. He's to blame for our current predicament, not Pace or ALK. At least not yet they aren't. I see people just waiting to jump all over them, almost as if they can't wait. We have been diabolically inept in the market for such a long time before the current board brought in Cornet, Roberts, Collins and Weghorst, and Garlick is getting an easy ride off some on here, but if we do end up relegated, it'll be his inaction to blame. We 'lost' Wood and that was impossible for the board to counter, so anyone whinging about selling Wood and bringing in Weghorst at half the fee really is clutching at straws with regards to blaming the board for using the money to settle loans.
We might not like the model used to 'purchase' the club, but Garlick the messiah sanctioned it and walked away with a pocketful, and we now have a board who at least are trying to get players in. Measuring ALK against Garlick is pointless.... if they bring in a tea lady they have already improved upon the mess left by greedy ********.
Pace and ALK deserve to be given a fair crack of the whip, but it seems there are plenty who want to write them off BEFORE they get it as wrong as Garlick clearly did.
It's a 5 btw.

Blown it
I don’t think we have enough to make a difference now.
The only hope is Cornet keeps fit now and gets a partnership going with Weghurst.
Oh and lets hope Dyche plays Weghurst from the off and not leave it weeks!
And Roberts first choice too.
Dare to dream, I was beginning to with the possibility of signing Orsic, but then I was woken up....back to our ClaretsWorld reality.
May be we set our sights too high, Ramsey and Lingard etc.
What no loans

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
People saying this is down to Pace and he is no different to Garlick etc...especially the Garlick defenders need to remember that had Garlick invested and spent in previous transfer windows the spectre of what is in front of us would be a lot less likely to be facing us. It his his failure to invest in previous windows that has created the dire neccessity to invest now. The problem being we are now bottom of the league and playing poorly with a style of football that has gained us a reputation (albeit unfairly). So whilst Pace has been looking for the right level of player he is hamstrung by our situation not looking favourable to potentially decent players.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 6:53 pmWith no further transfers looking likely and MSD getting a nice early advance on their loan repayment what would you rate this window out of 10?
Think Garlick would’ve been slated completely for this month but Pace seems to have had a lot easier ride.
Has to go down as a 3/10 when we’ve traded an established PL striker for an untested one (one who arguably could turn out well) and leaving none of the clearly obvious gaps in the team unfilled.
Fear we will be shopping in a very different market in the summer.
The buck still stops with Garlick. The damage has been done despite Paces attempts at repairing it.
As for this window. Effort 8. Reality 2. We are no better off..and more worryingly we still don't seem to have a long term plan regarding signing up and coming players. Considering our contract issues this upcoming summer that is very worrying.
Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
In essence nothing has happened.
If we had not sold Wood and brought no-one in can you imagine the fury on here?
That is where we are.
1/10 and near as certain Championship football.
I can only hope we have an East Lancs derby to look forward to.

Not really, I'm being sensible.
If the new lad comes in and starts banging goals in that keep us up, does that mean this window was a success or failure?
Technically it's a success if that happens....

Nothing wrong with the top man travelling to secure the services of a potential employee. That sort of thing goes a long way in helping people feel valued and wanted. It could also be the difference in engaging someone and not.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
I think most would have been happy with Orsic and Weghurst.
But as we all know the Orsic deal fell through at the last minute
through no fault of our own and not for the lack of trying.
I doubt whether there will be any last minute incoming so as such
disappointing but still, from my point of view a rating of 5 out of 10.
Shall probably still check later to see whether we have got someone else in
to replace Orsic.

Re: Transfer window rated out of 10
Essentially not much has happened. We have traded one striker for another who looks better.
We have massively failed on the midfield front again and the right wing front again. I could give it a pass if we were floating around mid table no one any real danger but we aren’t and if any club required heavily fortified it was us.
Unless something dramatic happens like signing Lingrd,Ramsey and Origi then it’s going down as the lowest possible number of 1/10 for being a pathetic white flag surrender act.

We've got rid of a crap Wooden offside CF for a ridiculous amount of money and upgraded to a current Dutch International +3
Rest, utterly abject performance, inexcusable to not strengthen midfield/right wing.
So 3/10 for me, massively underachieved
Dread to think what the reaction will be if we lose against Watford.

Are we surprised?
This will be Dyche's biggest achievement now by a country mile if he keeps us in the league. That midfield is embarassingly bad.

Realistically we're no better off than we were a month ago. We are bottom of the league. The lowest scorers. Have a midfield that creates the square root of nothing. Signed a striker unproven at this level. The oldest squad in the division, many who are out of contract in the summer and will be looking for their next/ last move. No real prospect of any young players making a breakthrough.
Doesn't paint the rosiest of pictures does it.

We haven't addressed areas that needed additions
I fail to see how we cannot attract a wide right player that will at least add to the squad and offer competition
