Think he's still away isn't he?
Re: Maxwel
Seems to be posting pics from Ivory Coast on his instagram account today, nothing regarding returning to training. Been nothing from our club that he’s back yet either in terms of pictures, which you’d expect. A bit concerning that he’s going to arrive back late for the game?

I’m glad he’s had chance to have a rest with his family like the rest of the squad! Will be back with batteries fully charged hopefully

Re: Maxwel
He should be well rested. He’s played about 150 minutes in around two months.
Re: Maxwel
Let’s not place too much weight on one mans slender shoulders. It might take him a little while to find his stride again, given the little amount of game time he has had during the last month.

Time is something we really don't have much of. Hopefully all is well and ready to get going on Saturday evening.
Re: Maxwel
In fairness, non of the Burnley squad have had much game time recently! I mean we’ve only played Arsenal and Huddersfield since Maxwell departed for the AFCON. And in that time he’s played 89 minutes for the Ivory Coast. So I ont think is much of an issue.

He should have left as soon as possible after IC were knocked out. Crazy if he didnt. Needs to work as much as possible with WW before the Watford game

He’s just had almost a month in a intense tournament environment while the rest of the squad has had a break. Probably needed it and hope he comes back refreshed.

He’s a professional footballer, lack of game time in the AFCON shouldn’t matter, he’ll be fit and hopefully raring to go on Saturday! Can’t wait

Someone told me he was stuck in Cameroon having lost his passport.
I laughed it off but maybe it was right?

Exactly my thinking, it might seem a holiday camp to some but it isn’t. I think with the COVID situation he’s probably not seen much of his family over the last few years so it will have done him good hopefully!Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:40 pmHe’s just had almost a month in a intense tournament environment while the rest of the squad has had a break. Re: Maxwel
Back yesterday, according to Dyche the training in the tournament was different, he hasn't had much football so we have to be careful
Re: Maxwel
If Maxwel doesn't play how are we going to score? Unless the new lad bags one or two.

Re: Maxwel
The way, football managers in general, have jumped straight from my players are being overworked to my players arent match fit, is really quite annoying.
I think with Cornet we've been quite lucky, he was clearly carrying a knock or niggle or two and a manager in the normal fixture list would complain that he needed a rest, he's had it with a little cameo that showed that he was ok.

Re: Maxwel
“He’s been away a number of weeks and their training schedule isn’t as loaded as ours,” said Dyche. “These are the challenges.
So they haven't injured him with too tough a training Regime - that's good
“He’s back but he only got back yesterday so we are monitoring his welfare against the impact he can have on the team.”
He a professional footballer if we go down then his welfare will be with someone else, he's the only goalscorer that we know we have
Cornet has scored six times in the Premier League so far this season, more than a third of the Clarets’ goal tally.
As Above, and if you take Woods goals out of that then it's likely closer to half of our goals for the current players
“We have to be careful as he didn’t play a lot when he was away,” added Dyche.
If he'd played would we have had to be careful because he went 75% fit and he's played a lot of minutes
And yes I'm Hysterical

Glad he’s back and in the squad for Saturday![]()
I also understand he won't have seen much of his family.
But we are in desperate need of a win. I can't understand why we would not have him back in the building on Monday. His last game was Wednesday last week!!
Especially with JBG, Josh Brownhill, Charlie Taylor and Ashley Barnes all being doubts or definitely being out.
But to listen to press conference it would seem he may not be quite at the Sean Dyche required level to start.
I feel our need at this moment in time is as high as it as been for a long time. So if we agreed to him having extra time off in my view it was a mistake. If he had been back on Monday he could have been available on Saturday.
I for one will be very disappointed if he doesn't start on Saturday in a game which is rather key to our season, no matter how much Sean plays it down. I think we would all agree .

Even if he flew back and got to the turf at 5-55 Saturday i would still start him.
Its win or bust and he is our best player

Re: Maxwel
Of course it's a good idea to throw him into this 'must win' game, get him some long term injury so he is no longer available for the next 'must win' game.
Re: Maxwel
I cannot remember a player to become a cult hero as fast as Maxwel , he's got it all.

I would just like to see him out on the pitch, he seems to spend more time away in Africa or on the treatment bench

Re: Maxwel
There is a long long history of clubs struggling to get players back on time from ANC duty. I won’t be sweating over Maxwel, I expect him to be on the bench. He has a new striking partner of course who he has never met.
Saying that about the long history, sods law Mane and Salah will be back next week after their final game on Sunday. If it took Maxwel 7 days to get back for training we could do with those two taking the same.

He had to go to the ACOP.

He's played in 10 matches and scored as many Premier League goals for Burnley as Aaron Lennon, Steven Defour, and Robbie Blake put together. What more do you want from him?Top Claret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 11:07 amI realise he had to go to the ACOP. The fact of the matter is that he has been with us 6 months and we have seen little of him on the grass

Re: Maxwel
Just want him to stay fit, be a 1st team regular and play a full 90 minutes. This will then give us a fighting chance going into the last half of the season
Re: Maxwel
I think he does as well, not his fault his body is accliming to the Premier league plus not his fault the pandemic and weather has caused postponements .Top Claret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 11:52 amJust want him to stay fit, be a 1st team regular and play a full 90 minutes. Re: Maxwel
Hmm! Blake and Defour possibly would rival him, but it is incredible just how quickly he's adapted to the PL, and without his goals heaven knows how far adrift we'd be at the foot of the table.

Re: Maxwel
He has the best goals per minute ratio in the PL. Been away at AFCON which we knew was coming, Cornet is the last person Burnley fans should be diverting ire at.Top Claret wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 11:52 amJust want him to stay fit, be a 1st team regular and play a full 90 minutes.
