It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
I know we all know it’s a big game but there’s something in the air that feels like everyone knows it’s a MASSIVE game.
The fact they did everything to make it a sell out which is now nearly is.
The fact Watford have basically sold out when they usually don’t.
I think everyone surrounded with the club, players included know if we lose this we are as good as down.
I haven’t been as nervous before a game for years it’s the similar sort of feel as I get before we play the B@stards.
Let’s get that Turf rocking a win and the momentum swing to us could be huge!
Up the Effin Carrots !!

i am trying to get my head round the fact that, even though we will still have 57 points to play for after tomorrow, "everyone surrounded with the club, players included know if we lose this we are as good as down."

Re: It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
We have one win all season ash…. One win.
How many points from the 57 available do you think we will get?
Win it and we may pick up some more points to make a fist of it…. Lose it and it would take a comeback bigger than lazarus’ to save anything of this season. All we would be waiting for would be the inevitable confirmation.

Re: It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
It's big! There is no doubt about that especially if you look at
our next 3 home fixtures ( Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea) with Brighton
and Palace away after Liverpool.
Will need stellar performances to get many points from those 5 fixtures.
But you never know.
A win against Watford would be a huge fillip but we will still probably need
to average at least a point a game if not more.
Let's hope the Turf is full and everyone is behind the team.

Remember that big game v Gillingham in 99/00.. big build up, both of us right up there, big crowd on - and we got stuffed 0-3. Looked all over, then we won the last four and pipped them on the final day.Indecisive wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 5:18 pmTbf it would be pretty Burnley like to bottle this and then beat United next week …

Maybe not look beyond Saturday, but what a week coming up at The Turf!!!!!
Re: It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
In addition to our fixture Newcastle v Everton is also huge.
Lose that one and it could turn very uncomfortable for Eddie Howe.

The result of this game is tantamount to a making a statement of the teams capabilities when added to earlier results. We lost to Leeds and Newcastle away, and drew at home to Leeds and Norwich. If we are unable to beat Watford just exactly who can we beat?

Win and we go up to 18th only 1 point behind Norwich with 3 games in hand. Lose and we start to lose touch. That’s how big it is !!!’n

It’s games like this Saturday that we started and love watching football for. It’ll be tense, but I really believe we’ll be talking about the win in Saturday for months to come as it completely changed our season. Well. Hopefully anyhow.

It’s already a massive ask to stay up. Losing on Saturday will more or less remove any hope we have .
People can kid themselves all they want that that is not the case but it is.
I’m expecting us to win

I am really up for Saturday, really can't wait, yes there is a bit of PMN, but the fact that it is the biggest match for us in a good few years, big crowd on, big striker up front, nice evening kick off, I can't wait. A nice social in the afternoon with my mates, Mrs and kids, train across from Accy, into Burnley, couple of beers in town and on to Turf under floodlights. Going to make some noise on Saturday, win a celebratory beer after. Come on Burnley!!!

Re: It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
So that's it then. Lose on Saturday and everyone at the club, including the players and management, will just accept that we have no chance n the next 19 games.
Surely we should request that the PL allow us to resign so that we can prepare for the Championship and we quite happy to accept defeat in our remaining 19 games and the points should be given to our opponents. It would save us a lot of money not having to stage matches and travel to away games and the players could have a really good break.
It's only a game!

My wife booked tickets for Blood Brothers, thinking we had no game. Well we didn't when she booked them.
Now I'm stuck because as much as I want to be on the Turf, I do t know how I can tell her without having a massive fallout.
In all honesty I'll bottle it and see the show. The only plus is its a matinee, so kick off time I'll be able to follow the action.
Please cheer that little bit louder to make up for me, my heart and soul will be with you.

I'm just excited to see WW and how the team works around him and if he has got the message, but I'll be nervous on the day watching, could e a great spectacle watching live, just need to keep the faith even if we go behind. We are not down lose or draw but yes makes it so much more difficult, stranger things have happened, not many thought we'd get anything at Arsenal but.......

Does the season end at 8 o'clock on Saturday night?
When did they decide that?
I must have missed it, I really thought that we were playing Manchester United on Tuesday, I hope that someone told them that we would not be turning up for the game because we have gone down.

If only, it's on in Darlo so no chance sadly.
It's daft but I really feel I'm letting the side down. Guilt complex, the good lady just doesn't get football, or the emotion of it, it flies over her head like a Nick Pope pass.

Re: It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
I think there are a number of reasons why this is a crunch game. Firstly, it is against a relegation rival and as yet we haven't managed to beat anyone in the bottom 3.
It also points to the trajectory of the clubs. Burnley have a new striker and potentially a new partnership with Cornet and WW.
Watford have several new players and a new manager. Sadly, I think Hodgson is an excellent appointment.
Hoping for the best but.......! Narrrr just hoping for the best.

Re: It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
The truth is defeat on Saturday doesn't guarantee relegation, nor a win guarantee safety. But the feel good factor generated by 3pts would do so much to lift the club, the players and the fans. A win and this board will be a mix of Mardis Gras and New Years Eve, defeat and it will be more like a good friends funeral. So the emotions of being a football fan.

Not letting anyone down mate, these things happen. If you let her down you’d literally NEVER hear the end of it. A fate worse than death. Enjoy Blood Brothers then get home and roar us on from your lounge with a few beers.

Re: It’s building up and this seems bigger than big
Saturday won't decide our fate one way or the other, but if we don't beat Watford it' just makes all survival bid all the harder.
Got a feeling we'll edge a nervy 2-1 win, but whether many of us will still have any fingernails left at the end is doubtful.
If we're to have any hope of finishing outside the bottom 3 we must start beating those around us, and a win over Watford allied to the boost of a new signing, and we'll be able to enter the 2nd half of the season with a genuine belief we can defy the odds yet again.

The fact that this happens to be the sole PL fixture of the weekend and coincides with it being Roy Hodgson's first game in charge at Watford gives the game added significance.
If Newcastle v Everton was on the same weekend we would barely get a mention as all of the media focus would have been on mega rich Newcastle and Dele Alli and Lampard making their Toffees debuts.

And we've got a new look strike force, whereas The Hornets are lacking some sting in their attack, so that should bode well for us.
