Brownhill out with five yellows. Westwood has already served a five yellow card ban.

Re: Connor Roberts
Cheers. Shame about Brownhill as he contributes a lot of energy to our play, but at least it’s not both out then.
Re: Connor Roberts
He looked decent today. Generally solid but made a few mistakes that he got away with.
Disappointed we didn't get more of a chance to use the long throw. Think we only had two and both were a little far out.

Re: Connor Roberts
Thought he looked good today and offered going forward. He found Vydra nicely in the channels a few times and made some decent runs that we failed to pick out.
Hopefully will get addressed post match as finding him could greatly improve our forward play. Trippier contributed massively over many seasons for us, we need the extra dimension.

Re: Connor Roberts
Surprised at the marks he is getting on the player ratings thread for last night.
One of the few players determined to drive forwards and did so at every opportunity he had. Thought he worked hard and did well, just a shame none of it came off, but team him up with a decent winger and there is plenty of potential there.
Don't just focus on his throws, he was one of our few bright sparks last night.

I would agree with that. He started a bit shakily for the first 10-15 minutes but then had a solid game in my opinion.burnleymik wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:14 amSurprised at the marks he is getting on the player ratings thread for last night.

Re: Connor Roberts
Plenty of long throws today, in decent enough positions for a long throw to be dropping on the penalty spot, but the only thing wrong with them is the name. I reckon I could hit the space Robert’s did between the 18 yd box and the 6 yd box with a throw, so Roberts efforts can hardly be described as a long throw.

Re: Connor Roberts
I thought he looked good , bear in mind almost every player made errors last night . He gives us something on the right he looks quick and lively and the throws are a bonus ( he’s no Rory D mind ) Lennon seemed to be getting too close to him instead of setting off on the wing . Can think of 2 times where Roberts was ready to release and Lennon was far too narrow
Re: Connor Roberts
He was fine. Far better than his colleague at left back who was utterly awful. When is Charlie Taylor back?

Re: Connor Roberts
Roberts was OK last night but I'd have preferred Lowton, who gets forward more purposefully and puts a better cross in. Time and time again roberts stopped the ball dead and went backwards. That said, I wouldn't judge anyone on last night tbh, night on impossible to give a good account of yourself in those conditions.
I imaginee his throw is better than we saw last night. Can't believe we were persisting with it in that wind.

Re: Connor Roberts
Roberts deserves a run-put in the only two decent crosses. The first was a brilliantly whipped one just over Weghorsts head, the second Jay nearly scored with
Re: Connor Roberts
I like him a lot but he'll not suit a Dyche system.
He looks to me like a very good PL full back - he's got some pace about him, good at defending in 1v1 situations, is tidy with the ball at his feet, and looks to create opportunities by sliding little balls through a backline for someone to run on to.
Sadly, our crude brand of football means we need our full backs to be swinging crosses in from deep positions and that's just not his game at all.

Re: Connor Roberts
Roberts was more than fine last night, ignoring the throw ins which I couldn’t believe we kept doing. He issue for me was the people playing ahead of him. Lennon should have been wider and bursting forward , Cornet also working the channels to get in behind but it just never happened. Then McNeil went over to the right and constantly turned inside but was caught out before Roberts could get wide for the pass.
Dwight has been a shadow of himself this season, Dyche needs to set us up to get McNeil wide left and whipping crosses in again, because at the moment we are quite simply useless going forward.
Roberts has bundles of energy , set up in the Wallace+Trippier mould down that right hand side and we might see results , but Dwight simply has to improve for this to happen

I know what you mean. Strikes me as someone who would suit a Bournemouth / Fulham / Brighton who have neat passages of play for the full back to get to the byline and fire low crosses across. Maybe why he had a lot of success at Swansea who are very much a possession based team.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:56 amI like him a lot but he'll not suit a Dyche system.

Re: Connor Roberts
Did you actually watch the game ?
Far more than 2 but they didn’t cause much danger
