I would have Jack Cork at 40 over the current Dale Stephens.

Well assuming we aren't going to give someone like Helm a chance, the alternatives are Brownhill and Westwood, and that totally sums up our lack of quality midfield options, TBH I wouldn't lose any sleep if all 4 left in the summer, and yes I'm well aware that that won't happen, but until we sort this key area out we'll struggle whether in the PL or the Championship, as shown by how easily both Bournemouth & Huddersfield dumped us out of the FA Cup recently.

Letting all four go would be extreme to say the least.

Won’t happen as it would involve a change in formation but I’d have cork, Westwood and brownhill in middle with McNeil and Cornet playing off WW.

Brownhil will be ok for Championship he’s just not good enough for the PL. Wouldn’t hold down a place in any other PL side. Westwood will be ok in Champ too. Corks legs have gone and Stephens wouldn’t be any good in the Champ. Been weak in this are for so long and I can’t believe we couldn’t find anyone better at all over all these windows who we could afford and would come. Cork before Stephens even though his legs have gone. With Stephens I can’t help feeling that we were ripped off at £1 million.

Showd how far we have fallen with Stephens and Lennon in our starting xl, both these would struggle getting a game with a championship club

Stephens needs a run of games to get match fit after such a long term injury , like every other footballer.
Only then can his worth be properly assessed. I’m not sure in our present predicament that he will get it.
The same applies to Jay

Isn't that why we pay umpteen coaches...to improve our players?

Brownhill was only a 1 match suspension, so he will be available to face Utd.

TBH it doesn't matter which midfield combo or even trio we select, they simply aren't good enough to compete at this level anymore, and why we didn't move heaven and earth to recruit I have no idea, surely AP & SD must see how poor we are in the engine room, and that's even before I mention our shocking lack of creativity.
In a nutshell.Spot on.

We won't I imagine we'll retain Brownhill & Westwood, Cork IDK what we'll do there, and Stephens will be released surely, yes it's not has fault he's been injured, but we can't afford to continue throwing money down the drain on ageing pros like him who offer nothing.

Neither
Collins Westwood Brownhill
or Roberts Westwood Brownhill.
We need more strength in midfield.
Stephens and Cork were fine players but their legs have gone.

Average age of our midfield starting four yesterday = 30

Plenty of experience out there.

We've struggled for years to have enough central midfielders at the required standard. Twice we've been relegated after playing players out of position there (Bikey when we lost McCann and Arfield when we lost Marney).

We even had 'Brian Stock day' due to the running joke of us never paying money for a centre mid. We just never learn and it's going to send us down yet again.
