United’s away support
Much as I despise the club , you can’t fault their numbers or their vocal support ( well until we scored ) For such a corporate monstrosity, they do well to maintain their “ men in black - no colours” away support ,almost entirely eschewing the plastic giddiness of their home support

Yep, they were fantastic last night.
Also have a brilliant set of chants. Wish we’d rip a few of them off!

Bloody annoying clapping chants - STFU
Re: United’s away support
Always get behind the team great range of songs as well. It shows world and the UK can live in peace if people from all corners of the world and the UK can come together in one place for 90 minutes and sing like that. I swear I heard a Manchester accent as well.

I didn’t even realise it was to rhythm is a dancer!!! I had to ask my son what they were singing & only then could I appreciate how terrible it was!
Re: United’s away support
Said this to my mate last night, their away support is fantastic. What is that chant that goes on for ages? They were singing it for most of the second half.

As with all the top clubs , they have lots of tourist/glory humter/day tripper types at their home games. But their hardcore away support as always been top drawer. It always has been. I'd say they're on a par with Leeds.

Superb until they are no longer on top, and then as quiet as a mouse
Essentially the same as everyother clubs support in that respect
Of course there are a lot of them, but they are one of the biggest clubs in the world, so I'd hope they would be a lot of them!

From a home crowd of up to 76 thousand I suppose the keenest percentage will be the ones that get the 3 thousand or so away tickets for Burnley. This will filter out the vast majority of plastic glory hunters.

Re: United’s away support
The problem is no matter which chant we rip off, they are indecipherable due to the speed they are sung at. There was a sustained "We are the Longside" towards the end of the second half last night, and if i didnt know what was being sung, i would have no idea. Covered recently on here was the legendary chanting at Derby in the FA Cup replay 1992 of Jimmy Mullen's Claret & Blue Army. Compare that to the Sean Dyche version now, it must be double the speed. Our repertoire of songs and delivery really are very poor.

Re: United’s away support
Already trying to rip off their old Rooney chant to the tune of Tom Hark. Surely this can’t be sung at lightening speed?
I saw my mate the other day
He said to me he saw the Dutch Pele
So I asked, his name of course
He goes by the name of Wout Weghorst,
Wout Weghorst, Wout Weghorst
He goes by the name of Wout Weghorst…

Re: United’s away support
United have always had brilliant away support. At Old Trafford as well as the Mancs, it is full of “megastore” type supporters from outside of Manchester. I know they have a points/ballot type system for away games but you tend to see more Manchester and Salford lads following them away. They do really get behind United even when they aren’t playing well, usually singing non stop. Yes Leeds have a very good away following considering the team have been poor for many years until now. However, the majority of Leeds travelling fans are a horrible bunch with a massive chip on their shoulder. That is just my opinion of course but respect to United’s away support. Excellent again last night.

Re: United’s away support
United put us to shame with there version of We are the Longside Burnley …Sung nice and slow and so loud and clear on the TV.
Bertie Mee said to Matt Busby
Have you heard of the Northbank Highbury
No said Matt you cockney ****
But Iv heard of the Stratford Enders
Then repeat a few times
Our version is so fast and by the time the songs took off its nearly finished and ready for the constant We are the Longside Burnley !
We should sing the main verse 3/4 times then start the We are the Longside Burnley.

Re: United’s away support
Tbf I imagine most "proper" football fans enjoy coming to the Turf. Town centre close by, cricket club right behind the away end is a good spot for a drink, and an old school away end where you can make plenty of noise.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 3:42 pmUtd fans on twitter saying it was the best away of the season for them. Re: United’s away support
Also good that they sung about their own team rather than hauling insults about relegation or the town.
I’d like us to do a version of their “Stratford end arising” song:
I see the Longside arising
I see there’s trouble on the way
Don’t go out tonight, if you’re blue and white
I see there’s trouble on the way….

United Fans still sing the "We are the Busby Boys" song ... they've never retired that even though they haven't been "Busby Boys" for 50 years or more

Re: United’s away support
Our fans will never be able to create any type of decent chant because we lack the imagination and half of them are coked up. They can’t even get the pronunciation of wout right in the woooooooot chant. Embarrassing. It won’t change, despite numerous people telling them the correct pronunciation. Our support has been awful for years.

When United play at Burnley they dish the tickets out to the local supporters clubs and the Northern ones. Parks of Hamilton always have a bus parked up on Harry Potts Way they must send a batch up to Glasgow.

“ When we’re playing in your town,
Get yourself to to that football ground “
Don’t know the rest of it, but very original. They really do have a decent repertoire, unlike us.
Fair play to them, and loud.
