We ca do this
Obviously, if we survive, this will be Sean Dyche's greatest achievement.
But, it can be done and, given our performance against multi-million pound Manure,
WE CAN DO THIS

Everton nearly went down around 10 years ago so I'm not going to exclude them from a relegation candidate.
We're all in the same scrap and Dyche is starting to show his worth

Re: We ca do this
If you compare each team to the marker of a point a game the following teams are behind the curve:
Brentford -1, Everton -2, Newcastle -4, Burnley -6, Norwich -6, Watford -7
Brentford, Watford and Everton all have worse form than us.
If we can get Wout and Maxwel firing we will start to win games. We just have to hope that it's not too little too late. We need to start beating the teams around us when we get the chance. Having said that I'd take an early goal and an ugly win against Liverpool

Re: We ca do this
Not a chance....sorry just living in the real world, just to beat Brentford to the drop we would have to win four more game than them from now until the end of the season.
Re: We ca do this
The only other teams we could hope to drag into this are Everton and Newcastle and there is no chance this will happen, sorry but its us Norwich and Watford, its been that way since about week 3, all we can hope for is not to finish in last postion and take a few more points off the big boys to **** them off, unfortunately Its the draws that are taking us down this season, to only have lost 8 games so far the same as West Ham and be rock bottom is crazy, enjoy the rest of the season and look forward to proper football in a proper league next season in the championship

If we stay up from this point it has got to be one the best great escapes in premier league history.
Unfortunately we have been down since the Wolves game.
The gap is getting bigger even though we are performing better.

No chance for me, but I’m optimistic we’ll be really competitive next season and mount a good promotion push.
Re: We ca do this
We need to just look at our own results. Who knows which teams will go on a bad run. There are always some who struggle. If we get to 36 points we will have every chance of surviving

I think we'll have a really good bash at it, and yes, the performance against Man U
was heartening.
However, I think we'll fall just short.
I desperately hope to be proved wrong on this.

Psychologically, I have accepted relegation. I hope you're right but I just feel, even if we go on a good run in our last few games, we have just left it far too late!

I expect us to survive, and relatively comfortably.
And I don't feel obliged to name the teams that won't.
We might look like a team of cloggers at times, but we've got the balls for this scrap...way more balls than the rest.

We CAN do it, but we won't. We've drawn far too many games and even with the fight we showed against Man U we aren't going to turn enough remaining games into actual wins.

Re: We ca do this
I admire your confidence, however if we do survive it'll be by the skin of our teeth in my view, as alluded too it's the amount of draws which is killing us.
And our results against those around us are nowhere near good enough right now, 6 points out of a possible 21 in our games against Brentford, Everton, Leeds, Newcastle, Norwich & Watford is a poor return.
We still have a chance, but we will need to start beating teams in the lower half of the table, something we have struggled to do thus far.
Re: We ca do this
I understand the reasons that this will be a tough ask, but this thread is pretty dire.
We have 18 games left and are four points from safety. We have from 1-4 games in hand versus the other teams in the bottom six and are playing better.
Likely? Maybe not.
“No chance?” Nonsense.

Re: We ca do this
Everton are definitely in the mix, 3 points off the relegation zone, and their recent form is terrible, also Lampard is untested in this type of scenario, plus their injuries are mounting up, so why folk think they are immune to the drop baffles me.
Brentford have the points on the board, but they've lost 5 on the bounce, and are starting to leak goals, they do have some winnable games looming on paper, but if they don't start picking up points soon they'll be getting edgy.

Re: We ca do this
Patrick viera was untested in this situation at the start of the season with palace heavily tipped to go down but they look reasonably safe,(ish) nobody is “immune” from midtable down but when you are assessing the likelihood Everton just don’t heavily feature, you seem to be grasping positives which aren’t really there to deflect away from our negatives, Brentford are in freefall as I predicted would happen but there’s just as much chance that Watford or Norwich could capitalise on that as well as us if that did happen.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 10:13 amEverton are definitely in the mix, 3 points off the relegation zone, and their recent form is terrible, also Lampard is untested in this type of scenario, plus their injuries are mounting up, so why folk think they are immune to the drop baffles me.

1 in hand on Everton, 2 in hand on Leeds, Newcastle and Watford, 3 in hand on Norwich, and 4 in hand on Brentford, now whether we can make them count is another matter entirely.

3 key games, and that's why we need to remain in touch, difficult but not impossible if we maintain the 2nd half levels we showed against Utd.Marney&Mee wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 10:47 amGoing to take some doing but wins at Norwich, Brentford and Watford will make things look a whole lot rosier…
Our last 7 games are not bad in theory, so if we stay in the hunt we've definitely got a puncher's chance.
Although we could really do with picking up an unexpected win along the way, draws will only go so far, it's wins we could really do with and PDQ as well.

Re: We ca do this
what's vital is building momentum now, to use a cricketing term 'keep the scoreboard ticking over'. Home v Liverpool, a point woyld be a huge ask. So it's two away games, Brighton and Palace. Spurs at home for a point minimum.
If we can get 5 points or more from the next 4 games it will be a sign. We also need one of Brentford/Leeds/Everton/Newcastle to get dragged in to the scrap.
Newcastle next 4 fixtures:
Villa (h), Wham (a), Brentford (a), Brighton (h)
Brentford:
Palace (h), Arsenal (a), Newcastle (a), Norwich (a)
Everton:
Leeds (h), Saints (a), Man City (h), Spurs (a)
Leeds:
Everton (a), Utd (h), Liverpool (a), Spurs (h)
I can see Leeds and Everton as having tricky fixtures. But there's a few teans playing each other.

That's exactly the point I'm making. You've banged on all season with your negative attitude. We all know it. But when someone offers something different you just can't resist replying with your depressing diatribe as though we weren't aware of your stance. We know what you think; the OP was presumably trying to offer some light to what we all know is an extremely precarious position.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:48 pmIf people want to be positive and show hope fair play.

Another mentions 'fantasy'. Could he/ she be so deluded to think that any Claret isn't aware of the desperate position we find ourselves in? No one is fantasising about out plight but just offering a little respite to supporters as we anticipate forthcoming fixtures.
