Today wasn't the same as we've been all season. More rubbish from you but shouldn't be surprised. It's never ending.
It was actually the same as every game for the last 12-18 months.
Open your eyes.

It really wasn’t though was it? We created more chances today against one of the best teams in world football than we created at Newcastle, home to Watford and home to Norwich, to name a few. They scored a scrappy goal and didn’t create anything else clear cut. Until the last 20 when Thiago came on, we were well in the game and for once the midfield looked competitive.

If you think the United game and today was anything like the Newcastle and Leeds games away, you need your head and eyes testing.
They were proles apart in both effort and quality.
Today we genuinely could have been a goal or 2 up, we fully deserved a point, and they scored a very soft goal against 1 of the best teams in Europe.
Man United we fully deserved a point and we're the better side for 45 minutes of the game.
If you think that's the same as the displays at the aforementioned games, then football isn't for you as you genuinely don't have a clue what's going on.

Liverpool were poor, granted, don’t think it was a case of getting out of second gear. And we didn’t make life easy for them at any point until the introduction of Thiago who is outstanding.

Some really encouraging player marks there which gives some optimism for future games against lesser teams then high flying Liverpool.

An whole round solid performance and a level we need to try and keep to for the remainder of the season. No more horror shows please.
If we go down with that level of commitment and desire you'll have no complaints from me.

So how come we cut through their defence with ease in the first half, if they didn't have to get out of second gear?
Not getting out of second gear suggests we didn't have a single chance!

So no credit from you for us preventing them playing and our first half display in particularly. There's only you who could think that each player deserved a rating of just 5 today based on their quality.

Good game from us. I turned up expecting a tanking, I left saddened that we didn’t get the point we deserved. You can’t miss the chances that we had at this level though, sadly. Weghorst offers a lot of movement and seems to suit us but the lad needs a goal to get off and running.

Yep and as usual your opinion is incorrect.
This team shows a lot of heart but ultimately there is very little quality in there. Today was the same as we have been all season, good performances due to grafting hard but we just couldn’t see it over the line due to a lack of quality as per the last 12-18 months
We do lack quality compared to Liverpool, who are literally one of the best club teams in the world. I think you can level that criticism at them at times this year but not really today, relative to the ability they all have they did show quality. Sometimes quality just means better players. Liverpool have better footballers than us.

It's 2022 and still having to play Lennon and Barnes shows the inept strategy at the club.
Crouch made a brilliant point last week - I have been retired 3 years but I played with most of these burnley players
And?

Pope - 7 - Solid
Roberts - 6- Better than recent. Couple of decent crosses.
Mee -7 - Handled Firmino etc
Tarky -7- As Tarks
Pieters- 8- MOM for me. Didnt give Salah a kick.
Lennon - 8- Great at breaking up attacks. Pick of midfield.
Westwood - 6 - Better than recent weeks. Still want more composure.
Brownhill - 7- Win it move it was brilliant. Got to learn not to rush everything.
Cornet- 4 - Sorry, but he was terrible today. Nothing going forward or defending.
Weghorst- 4- All around was good. Can't miss two chances like that though.
Jay - 4- Missed a great chance. Couldn't affect anything.
Dwight- 4 - Needs a reset and to attack fullback
Barnes- 4- Not sure he was on long enough

Thought Josh maybe had his best game for us today, broke up lots of play, tackled and intercepted like an annoying ankle snapper dog.. Aaron Lennon was also at it for 90 minutes and impressed with his energy and tackling.
Up front we had plenty of opportunity and despite the best efforts of a poor Assistant in front of the Longside, any one of those chances actually finding the net may have been rewarded by VAR.

A very good performance full of commitment. Very poor finishing and very sloppy defending from a corner meant it counts for little though. The task is too big an ask so let's just try and get this performance into the games against the sides around us and keep it interesting.

I'm absolutely gutted we didn't get something from this. Liverpool were off it by their standards and we really should have got something. We were really good first half and less threatening second half which is weird for us. Our first half chances were VERY presentable and missing them was compounded by a ridiculously crap goal to concede. So sad not to have got a point because a defeat is a defeat whoever you're playing sadly and it just makes relegation more of a certainty.

Pope 7 Excellent save first half down to his right
Roberts 6 Didn't pass forwards quite enough for me when Lennon and others were creating good options. Still finding his feet though.
Tarkowski 8 That challenge in the second half was outrageous. Looked a certain goal. How did he make it back?
Mee 7 Ben Mee being Ben Mee.
Pieters 8 Salah was pretty much ineffective for them. Testament to Pieters shift.
Lennon 8 Energy was outstanding and did his job. If we'd used his runs more often we'd have carried a greater threat too.
Westwood 8 Carried the ball and retained it much better than in recent weeks.
Brownhill 9 His best game for us to date. Looked a completely different player in possession.
Cornet 6 Mixed bag. Looked a bit betwixt and between at times.
Rodriguez 5 Bad miss.
Weghorst 6 Got into some great positions. Two chances particularly stick out but he tried scooping the first one so doesn't suggest any lack of confidence. Always hard coming into a new group and he'll be desperate to prove himself. Get the first one and more will follow.
McNeil 6 Nice little cameo for Dwight. Couple more of those should restore the confidence and being benched hopefully has him champing at the bhit.

Even more disappointed this morning. Liverpool are a very good side yet we should have punished them

Liverpool were clearly not at their best, but it was we who stopped them playing so. I was particularly impressed by the way in which Pieters nullified Salah; perhaps fortunate as otherwise I'd have had to make Lennon our MOM and someone would then have reminded of all the negative remarks I've made about him in the past.
Sadly though as was well summed up by Jaob's Tash: "We played well but the harsh reality is that we can’t keep missing guilt edge chances and say we deserved more." Jay-Rod's and one of Wouts at least should've been buried.

Sadly didn’t score have to be there to miss them .
Flaggged offside more than normal against a world class defence .
