I was incredibly sceptical about us renewing his contract, but credit where it is due. he's been superb for us.

Faultless from him today. The ball to Roberts for the first goal was outstanding and his finish was superb. Hopefully gives him more confidence in his attacking play.

Great pass for the first, a goal, used his pace when on the attack and his defensive discipline was outstanding. One of the first names on the teamsheet for me.

He's always been better than JBG, when you see Lennon play like that today you have to wonder where has that been since we first signed him?

Was excellent today, spent far too much time in his Burnley career running backwards and playing the easy option.

Not just today - has been excellent in most games since coming into the team. It was a real blow losing him almost two years ago and I, for one, was delighted to see him come back last summer.

There have been plenty of performances from Lennon to suggest that he wasn’t worth bringing in the first time, let alone to bring him back for a second time.

His recent displays raise doubt on that view - more needed for an about turn of opinion from me, but a most welcome improvement in his output, be that due to a tactical change or otherwise.

He was terrific today. That's 2 goals for him this season. And the pass for the opener was sublime. Add to that his te acious defensive work and he is a real asset. Give the sad decline of JBG he's making RM his own.

I really like him because he gives his all, and the fact that he always tracks back quickly and makes a defensive impact

He works ever so hard tracking back but his output as a winger has been poor far too many times for us, which is the reason many weren't pleased to see him return for a second time after a barren spell in Turkey.

Absolutely fair play to him since Man Utd away though where he's been mostly very good, capped off with a superb display today.

There is balance to be had with him though.

My MoM today. Still has the pace to get to the byline and cross the ball for the likes of Weghorst. Depends of course if Sean wants to use him that way.

Seems to have the pace to go past lumbering centre backs but not full backs. Scored two absolute quality goals this season from that central position.
Maybe this is his best position i.e. a more central role?

The finish was absolute class, always looks good when it hits the crossbar and in, would much rather see him running forwards rather than backwards, well done Aaron

That goal at United though ultimately in a losing cause has given Lennon a much needed confidence boost, and confidence is huge in football, now he's netted again today he'll be brimming with belief, and he might well prove to be a vital player over the rest of the season.

I also had my doubts over bringing him back, but considering he was on a free it looks like great business now.

I think one of the concerns was that he would be a mid-thirties year old "bench-filler" on a decent wage.
Him being used as a starter (and doing well) kind of negates that issue.

Makes you wonder whether he is conquering some of his well publicised depression / anxiety demons - hats off to him if his mental health has taken a positive turn

Agreed. The recent interview he did for the Times on the subject of mental health was a very good read. The club in general and it would appear SD in particular have been a huge support to him in that respect and he seems to have rediscovered his confidence. His fitness and conditioning are superb and he his still has the same sprint stats he had when he was 27/28

I don’t think many of our fans have appreciated the role he’s been asked to play by Dyche, which has been much more defence-orientated than the Lennon of old. And in fairness to Lennon, that side of his game is very good - he’s quick, tenacious and likes a tackle. I bet Dyche is very happy with his performances more often than not.

I think the frustration has come from his lack of attacking contribution which has been a fair criticism during a lot of his time at Burnley. Seems like the shackles were released today and he was fantastic. I also think the negativity when he re-signed was largely down to the lack of other transfer activity at the time.
