Sorry.... You've got me there...youll need to explain to me what I've missed.

"Clearly"??...... Based on?
do you see them attacking anyone in either video ? If they were this devilish force Putin tells the world they are then they wouldn't hesitate to engage. There have been loads of videos where they are refusing to engage with civilians over the last week. Their orders were to go and secure Donbass and Luhansk, even the on ground Commanders didn't know what Putin's intentions were when they were sent in - that has been widely reported also.

The amount of equipment the Russians have abandoned in full working order is also an indication they'd rather be elsewhere

I think you've misread Vegas (or I have!)

The EU countries give up their operational SU-25s and MIG-29s, and they then replace them with surplus USAF F-16

The Ukrainian pilots wouldn't be able to fly an F-16
yep you are correct, I shouldn't really try to do anything before a coffee !

Shame about the 16's :(

Apologies if already posted.
Ukraine have asked the UN who exactly voted in Russia to be a member, because USSR was the member originally and that membership wasn't transferable.

If they are just firing missiles into Kyi'v, that isn't a tactic that is going to help them much I have to say

Going to enrage the population and the defenders

They are much better to encircle and then wait, because how on earth does a city of 4.2 million people feed itself?

doubt it was Governments, more likely their sponsors threatened to stop giving them money, horrid corrupt organiztion. It was the perfect opportunity for all the countries to resign their memberships and start a new competition

The last bit of the quote from the Russian Spokesman

“ "There had been statements by various representatives at various levels about possible conflict situations and even collisions and clashes between Nato and the Russian Federation," said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Vladimir Putin.

"We consider such statements absolutely unacceptable. I will not name the authors of these statements, although it was the British foreign secretary."
I wonder if they realised how awkward it sounded.

You've got to wonder why they chose the UK as their target for sowing division in the opposition ranks.

There have been 6000 peace protesters arrested since the start of the invasion in Russia, the number of protesters on the streets is decreasing.

This is a big issue for average Russians, it needs a huge amount of people such that the government forces can not stop it and don't have enough resources and places to put people or when it's a smaller gathering they're just taken and will pay for it. It's a real dilemma for the average person, do you protest knowing what's coming, they need to make good arrangements and spread the word before hand, but the authorities will be looking for this and come down hard. Being tried for treason when attending a peace march ensures a lot won't attend I should think.

Is this going to be the first conflict where digital payments really makes a difference to a country, is it becoming a real force to be reckoned with?

Can see numerous new laws and strategies coming out of this as we move forward in the future.

Yeah right.

As if this decision had anything to do with FIFA.

Clearly with third world dictator cash drying up, the remaining sponsors have told them to do it.

Fifa do not give a **** about anything but money.

Shell pulling out of Russia

The LPG Terminal in Sakhalin is worth $3 billion to their portfolio

Going to be a deluge of this now I think

The West economies will get hit of course, but absolutely nothing compared to what is going to happen to Russias

For anyone who follows Bald and Bankrupt travel vlogs he's posted a couple yesterday and today.

He spends a lot of time travelling around Russia and the Baltic states and last weekend made the trip from Poland into Lviv Ukraine. He then travelled right across Ukraine to Kharkiv by train and made his way out to a village on the East Ukraine Russian border.

He seemed to think the risk of an invasion was low but the follow up vlog picks up with him from Friday just gone as he sets off on a mission to evacuate Kyiv and head for either the Hungarian / Romanian borders.

His vlogs tend to good in normal circumstances but todays was sobering watching all the people around him packing up their lives and heading for the trains as the bomb raid sirens sounded

This is the thing, it will be part of their 2nd echelon (which they would have held back at the start)

It won't be the same quality of troops and equipment as the first wave (unless of course the Russians were so confident they sent in the National Guard (Rosgvardiya) and the conscripts first)

and this is why I think we've seen the delivery of more fighter jets and artillery - it would not surprise me if drones are handed over too as the US has plenty

It isn't just crypto helping Russia in what I posted, millions have been given to Ukraine from worldwide sources for the war effort, including $25 to every Ukraine citizen to try and help.

I don't think it will help Russia all that much but it is definitely a source to ease their currency/financial issues and allows any foreign country to pay them for energy related commodities, oil & gas. It's a way to for Russians themselves to get by without the Ruble and helps them in this crisis, which is not of their making or will.

Yet Russia is well know for crypto and I've no idea at the government level what knowledge/will there is to utilize this as a go around to the SWIFT issue.

It is what is happening and therefore pertinent to financial crisis Russia has, they are still trading with the likes of China utilizing their equivalent to the SWIFT, therefore if people are going to debate/discuss the financial side, I am only trying to provide info that some may not of thought of. I am not promoting it as a solution that defeats the sanctions, just that it may not be as bad as some believe, I suppose we will see in the near future because crypto transfers are open source and can be tracked, therefore potentially stopped.

Additionally the links provided info regarding the main exchanges blocking accounts originating in Russia. So it may not be the solution some may think it is either, but in this, many of the ordinary Russian population will also be hurt, which at the end of the day, I suppose it's what the sanctions are supposed to do, creating unrest from within.

giving up those jets was always going to be a big/huge ask, even for the potential of them being replaced by better ones. Maybe if they flew the F16's over and said, here, these are yours, please give your old ones over to Ukraine, but even that means a big hole as I am assuming (foolishly) that they wont have the pilots trained to fly the F16's.

Perhaps one or two could have been provided to ease them in, but likely to be to little to late.

Great post, Žižkov. Some magnificent work being done by volunteers across Europe.

Estimated 500,000 Ukranians have left their country in the last week. Terrible. Thank God there are a lot of decent people in the world willing to help them.
Aye, Prague Zoo are allowing entry to any Ukrainian women and children for a symbolic 1kc (so around 10 pence). Only a small gesture but will hopefully be something of a distraction for them, wether refugees or residents with relatives back there.

It does make sense actually, its a big ask for countries

But I would have thought there would be a lot of diplomatic activity so I wouldn't rule anything out

I'm losing track of what has been reported and what hasn't, but the Russian story that was supposed to be released on the occupation of the Ukraine has n't been deleted from the servers and its very illuminating about what was going to happen

No wonder the West reacted and its bound to stiffen Ukrainian resistance

Me and the youngest were watching the news and we heard what we thought was a Chinook coming in low down the valley (they do that a lot) and it turned out to be the washing machine on spin

I'm losing track of what has been reported and what hasn't, but the Russian story that was supposed to be released on the occupation of the Ukraine has n't been deleted from the servers and its very illuminating about what was going to happen

No wonder the West reacted and its bound to stiffen Ukrainian resistance

the more I read, the more I see the more I find it laughable that Putin is held in such high esteem as a "smart man"

They are not even capable of protecting their own supply depots within Russia

How on earth does a Ukrainian drone penetrate one of the biggest air defence zones in the world to destroy a fuel train?

Todays vlog leaving Kyiv

I cant take to that guy. Swans around calling every lad he finds in adidas a gopnik. He'll come across the wrong person one of these days
