Barnfield complex,disabled stands.
Painted walls and LED lights and signage.
Aging squad, overpaid manager and a huge debt.
Not good is it.

Maybe a few youngsters who might break through at Championship level if they are ever given a chance.
Other than that it will just be memories.

1. A wonderful new training ground. A genuine legacy.
2. A much improved academy, which will hopefully bear fruit when the next manager arrives, whenever that may be.
3. Alan Pace
That's about the top and bottom of it.

The 2nd best stadium in league one in a year and half

4. Pulling power when we shop in the summer transfer window. Players who want to play in the Premier League know we have an excellent chance of returning.

Have you completely missed our financial situation? We won’t be able to pay the interest never mind chuck money at players.
Re: If the worst comes to the worst what have we got to show for all the Premier league money ?
That depends on who we sell. If we sell a couple of players and bring in circa 50m in fees, we’ll have enough to spend at that level to build a side good enough for promotion.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 5:00 pmHave you completely missed our financial situation? Or for SD to hand out new contracts to the OOC players who simply aren't good enough
Re: If the worst comes to the worst what have we got to show for all the Premier league money ?
Which "couple" of players are going to bring in circa £50m ?
And £50m doesn't even cover the debt, interest payments and falling revenues
More likely any of that £50m will go to paying off MG and JB

It's a shame really, the year we got in Europe was the real miss. That was the moment to reinvest and develop players with potential into valuable assets. Instead we let the squad age and are left with with very little in that regard.
So some fond memories, debt and a training complex.

Re selling players,it will be a fire sale and the offers will reflect that,we will be selling to survive again, history repeating itself yet again. I'm a bit worried .
Re: If the worst comes to the worst what have we got to show for all the Premier league money ?
Somebody mentioned in the main finance thread (forget what it's called), that the debt changes if we go down (the repayment plan). And that wages will go down considerably due to clauses. Add that to 10 OOC players, and the overall opinion seemed to be that if we came up within 2 seasons it would be ok.

Barnfield and hopefully a few youngsters breaking through.
Memories of Europe, and some great victories over the big 6.

Away wins at:
Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton etc etc
Whatever happens we have massively punched above our weight. If anyone told us 15 years ago we'd be a PL yo-yo club every last one of us would have signed up for that. As disappointing as the last 2 years have been I still think what the club has achieved on and off the pitch has been nothing short of remarkable

Football and following Burnley has become far less important to me over the last decade even so the 3 days I spent in Athens was easily my best moments as a Burnley fan ever
Dont get so hung up on what we have got to show for our time in the Premier League to the point you forget the journey itself and the good and brilliant times that came with it.
i mean but for the Premier League money we could well in League 1 or even League 2 now playing the likes of Forrest Green and Accy Stanley

Just going off release clauses / previous interest, McNeil 20-25m, Cornet 20m, Pope 15m, Taylor 10m. Who’d have thought we’d have got 25m for Wood? Plus there’s the 13m that we tried to spend in Jan on Orsic.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 5:05 pmWith the greatest respect what couple of players are bringing 50mil in the summer?

A great training ground. Probably the main legacy.
Some memorable results and European games.
A great chance to get back up but there is a lot of good competition and it won’t be easy
Nothing memorable about this season though.
We go down in a worse financial position than last time.
We’ve 4 years to get back or we could be in real trouble.

Wins at Anfield, The Emirates, Goodison Park, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge
Home wins over Everton, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs (twice)
A PL worthy stadium, world class training facility and elevated academy status
We have signed elite players from the highest tier of both French and German football
If you are comparing us to City, United, Liverpool and Everton - maybe not that much. If, on the other hand you are comparing us to similar sized local rivals Blackburn, Blackpool. Bolton and Preston - not bad

Sorry it was Thessaloniki in Greece where we played the final of the UEFA club. When you're a massive club who've played countless games in Europe its easy to forget
Im sure you're the same with those glory days in the 80's and early 90's and that you sometimes mix up those historic victories at the likes of Halifax, Scarborough, York and Maidstone

RV was implying we would have close to 50m from player sales. In reality we will probably just break even and that doesn’t allow for any finance to sign new players.

When you refer to the 80's it tends to be the ignomy of the defeats that you remember and the odd cup highlight - certainly post a home win against Chesterfield on a torrential evening to gain a short lived promotionDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 5:35 pmSorry it was Thessaloniki in Greece where we played the final of the UEFA club. No not really. I was fortunate to watch us numerous times in Europe in the 60’s. A claret then and now. Never understand ‘fans’ who change allegiances. Guess you will be moving on to Liverpool or City soon. Now they are massive clubs

How will it be minimal by comparison? Value of players purchased this season is circa £40m against circa £35m in sales.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 13, 2022 5:44 pmI suspect we will still be owed some of the Chris Wood fee and a bit of something for Gibson. I'm loathe to go around this again but we have three years of parachute money.
In the first season we would lose around £50 million quid's worth of TV money, which equates to slightly more than half the wage bill. I don't think the out of contract players would cover £50 million quid so you'd have to lose 10 players plus probably another 2 or 3 to cover the TV money. Not to mention the lower gates and ancillary commercial revenue.

Apart from what already has been mentioned by previous posters then
i think our stay in the premiership has put the town on the map certainly across
the football world and also given fans like myself who can't make it to many games
the chance to see my team play - be it on the telly.
And there have been some glorious moments along the way although not many
this last season. Let's be honest no one could have predicted we'd stay at the top level for so long.
Oh, and we're not down yet.
But probably take a miracle for us to stay up.

That we haven’t even replaced the cricket field stand is a joke and a disgrace. The roof needed fixing (literally) while the sun is shining and as the takeover proves, debt is possible which could have funded it with a sensible repayment plan.
The trouble is, when we go down it is hard to see any of these substandard facilities ever changing. The training ground is great, but we are the customers.
We are not down yet lets not forget.

Re: If the worst comes to the worst what have we got to show for all the Premier league money ?
Yes we have been remarkably successful just to stay up. BUT
We had the opportunity to invest in young talent and we didn’t.
That wouldn’t have guaranteed success but it would have given us hope if we got relegated.
Something is missing at the club. There is no pathway to the first team, certain players appear favoured over others, too many want out, there is no exuberance of youth.
Yes we will still likely have some good players but attracting new ones even if we have the money will be hard.
We’re generally perceived as dour, workmanlike at best, and sadly young players and loanees are likely to avoid us like the plague.
Our reputation has taken a tumble. Pluckiness, fighting above our weight has become replaced in many peoples perception that we are incapable of adapting and wedded to an outmoded framework, at best ugly at worst dire dross, Unfair it may be, but not adapting has made us appear boring and uninspiring.
And as a side we’ve lost something of that in it together feel, that joy of challenging the high and mighty, it’s as if we have accepted we really don’t belong, and that’s sad.
