Why does a new player need to cost £10m? I don’t get that.

Jed Wallace free
John Swift free
Billy Gilmour loan
Jason Knight £5m

Lewis Richardson promote
Mancini Gomez promote

There’s 6 ‘new players’ for the team off the top of my head with a net spend of £5m. Okay I’m in speculation mode there but I wouldn’t say any are unrealistic either.
You're assuming that all of those players would want to come to Burnley. Which I think is doubtful.

Did you choose to ignore the rest of my reply?
The rest of it was pure speculation and offered nothing to back up the first part of your reply, so I chopped it down a bit.

Quite possibly. Like I said it was more putting a few names together quickly to show a low cost squad rebuild, which is more realistic than having to spend 10m on every incoming player as someone suggested. But also who’d have thought Barton and Gray would have wanted to come to us last time we went down.

Good point. But of course the figures you quote don't take account of what wages they would want.

We would need to get some stellar signings as we did when we got Andy Gray & Joey Barton, last time we went down, get rid of the OOC players, and be more expansive in the way we play and formations we can turn to. If not we will be a "Coventry" or "Swansea" of this division, maybe lower

Yep also true, though with parachute payments you’d assume we’d be in the top 6 for wages, as well as a favourite to go up, so there should be an attraction there for players.

That's what I posted further up. We'll have 'pulling power' - not just wages, but players who want to play in the Premier League and know with our history, have an excellent chance of achieving.

so what do we do then, I'm like you in wanting new players (i agree with the losing is a habit scenario 100%) - we have to sign players, we do have to go up again (because of the long term finances, unless there is something we don't know). Who would you attempt keep this summer ?
I have absolutely no idea what we do, keep the squad intact for a year and add a couple of free transfers? It's honestly a terrible position we find ourselves in, quite sad infact, we're gonna need to eventually sell our star players just to fund new ownership if we aren't promoted after year 1 but we don't have funds to replace those 10 out of contract to be confident of mounting an automatic promotion charge.

If we sell our star players, fans would like that money reinvested but even if we do that, it's **** or bust.

I think we'd probably keep everyone other than Tarks. You rarely get post-relegation fire sales these days and we don't have many players PL clubs will want to shell out for. Assuming we can get a midfielder or two in top 6 easily.

With the nucleus of the current squad and Dyche, we will struggle.
As many posters have pointed out, we are stale and that is with a new ownership. We would be even worse under Garlick.
A proper clear out is required.
Norwich geared up to be an up and down team but have changed their strategy mid term.

I'll be amazed if we keep everyone, for starters we'll probably need to sell a couple to cover our reduced income, and that's even before we get around to servicing the sizeable debts we've now acquired.

Regarding players who'd interest PL clubs, Cornet, McNeil (maybe) Pope would all be on the radar of lower end PL clubs without a doubt.

Also we'll definitely need to dramatically cut the wage bill, and quite honestly will we want to keep everyone, the squad needs a radical overhaul as it's grown old and stale.

Agree about recruiting a midfielder or two, but even then I'm not convinced we'll storm the Championship as many seem to imagine, unless we nab a few shrewd signings, and there appears to be serious question marks over how much we'll be able to splash out this summer.
