Today's footie 16/4

Post by tiger76 » Sat Apr 16, 2022 12:41 pm

Not many games today, but there is the small matter of an FA Cup semi final between City and Liverpool.

Also a few PL games, and there's been a thrilling start to the Edinburgh derby, 2-1 Hearts after a frantic opening 25 minutes.

Has the paint dried yet? Spurs at home manage to muster 5 shots with 0 on target, even though they managed 48% possession. Modern football at its best!

Some week for Brighton going to Arsenal and Spurs, and returning home with 6 points.

Yes they endured a brief blip, but credit to Potter he's swiftly revived their season again.

I guess that's good news for us, and Brentford could well finish top half, after looking in serious trouble only a few games ago.

City looking pretty poor so far without some of their top players.

Saints 1 Arsenal 0, does anyone want top 4.

2-1 Utd, maybe Norwich aren't done for yet.

2-0 Liverpool after comic defending by City.

How come Fernandinho always gets away without getting booked?

Cos he plays for City. They don't really foul anyone.

Brilliant 3rd goal from Liverpool, and 3-0 doesn't flatter them on the balance of play.

I'd take the scores as they are. A point for Norwich and Watford doesn't really change anything imo.

Pressure needs to be put on Everton as well.

Amazing finish at Watford. They miss 2 open goals and the Brentford win it with seconds to play

At the very least I thought Roy Hodgson was going to make Watford hard to beat. It seems anything but.

I used to really like my occasional visits to Maine Road with friends, even got to the point I would wear a discrete ‘Oasis Roundel’ along with my Burnley arm badges on my flight jacket. However since the takeover the number of complete tools following City has made me even want Liverpool to beat them, a lot of vile and entitled bigots, more like a big London Club than a Northern one these days.

No idea how the Watford goal
Was allowed by VAR. Clearly offside as given by the lino. No clear and obvious error. Made no difference in the end but a shocker non the less
