Genuine question. What volume of bets are placed on manager markets and what kind of money sees odds drop significantly?

Never understood the obsession with betting markets.

No idea AG but I guess at the lower end it for eg 20/1 plus it wouldn't take too much money to see odds tumble.

Try it and stick £50 on Owen Coyle at 100/1 just to see what happens :D

Betting companies are horrendous. Spot a rumour, add him to the betting to suck people in to throw their money away.

Bookies aren't going to open themselves up to inside info, the max stake on Paddy Power is £100. Most bookmakers not interested in these sorts of markets. I wouldn't get excited if the market gets suspended, it is more than likely the bookies can't be bothered to monitor if there are multiple max bets on a certain candidate.

Knutsen 5/1 is the same price as BFS with Paddy.

Well he ain't coming back, so someone will have to take the reins, and you'd have thought ALK would at the very least have had a potential short list in case exactly this type of situation arose, but given the way they've conducted themselves since Friday it seems not.

Pace went from #legsheartsminds and good luck to Sean and the lads on twitter before Norwich to not being seen since in there. Not surprised with the backlash he would get tbh.

Low 4-5 figure turnover depending on Size of club. Very volatile market, where inside info is very prevalent. Go and try and out £100 on any selection, and I suspect you’ll find your bet reduced and a max liability figure pop up.

I reckon £50 would move a price significantly.

I heard he’s been locked in a basement and Sean Dyche and his team were sacked for refusing to tell anyone where they hid the key.

Just googled Knutsen and see he’s 53 and only ever managed in Norway. Was linked with Aberdeen in February. Is he rated by bigger clubs then as I’d never heard of him until now.

Still 11/4 on Paddy. I think we can say Jackson will take charge on Thursday.

Again, these markets aren't a good indication.

Perhaps there wasn't a "bounce" plan?

Should imagine a few things have altered the odds today, the suggestion of pace getting someone from Europe will likely see some of the overseas coaches become shorter prices.
Knutsen is an interesting one as he wasn't even on the list yesterday, probably with the mentions on here people have been requesting prices on him which have seen him added and then because he's been added at 8-1 people have thought, this one's come from no where, must be something in it" so people have backed it shortening the odds further. Still think we'll end up with someone out of work, the D Martinez link seems a bit more likey to me, not sure what odds he is currently!

No I didn't???? You got the story wrong.

Not sure why that is a relevant response either, managers are only as good as the previous season or so, nobody cares how good Dyche did 4 years ago it's irrelevant, the new manager has to be an upgrade on Dyche in the last year, not a hard upgrade to find imo.

I can see where you’re coming from with this position. What it doesn’t take into account though, what is probably the great unknown, is what constraints Dyche had been working under over the last twelve months or more.

A good manager doesn’t suddenly become a poor manager. I’m sure that there are things that Dyche could have done that would have helped to avoid the position that we find ourselves in now, but just how many things were there that he had less or no control over that played as much of a part, if not more?

If I were a fan of a Stoke, WBA or plenty of other teams, I’d be clamouring for our board to bring in Sean Dyche. I wouldn’t be looking at his recent record, I’d be looking at how much he’s given to Burnley, against huge odds.

He needs therefore to do better than just under a point a game which is what we've been on since Jan. A point a game would see us on 32 which probably sees us relegated (I think Everton will manage at least 7 or 8).

So he needs to be a lot better for us to survive

I’d worry about that too.

But there’s basically none of the current linked names I am certain about/favour :(

Probably Rooney ticks most boxes for me, but he doesn’t seem interested.

The name who would be attainable and has a record that matches the best that Dyche has done for us, and beyond, is Slaven Bilic.

I am really surprised we don’t seem bothered about him considering he allegedly is interested in the job.

Please no to Wilder. Would be a backwards step. Listening to his interviews, he is old school - grumpy , cross between Keegan and Laws, odd accent that I would hate to have to listen to much more, please no, God no.

A good manager doesn't mean good results, there are other factors. Dyche has done an incredible job over the 9.5 years he was here, we've won 4 games this season and seen some awful performances and some awful decisions tactically. The new manager simply needs to turn the ship around, they likely wont be here for 9.5 years.

players and managers are only as good as their previous year or so to their current club. The new manager doesn't need to be compared to Dyche's 10 years, just his last 6 months or so. I'm confident performances cannot get worse than the crap we've been watching this season, where you, yourself have complained at how bad we've been.

Di Matteo won the UCL with Chelsea, was he an amazing manager? No, just provided a short term spark that was badly needed.

I think the worry here is that we have to do pretty well pretty quickly - we have debt to service which restricts greatly our flexibility in the league below. We can't really afford say another Laws - Howe - Dyche as that took 4 years. I'm not sure we have that.

Like Jedi, I'm surprised there aren't any rumours round Bilic given he is free too.

How many managers last as long as Dyche? Let’s just accept that all good things come to an end and we need to move on!

If Bilic was in charge for the entire season, imo we win more than 4 games. That doesn't mean he's a better manager than Dyche overall, just a better fit atm maybe

If Bilic was in charge for the entire season, imo we win more than 4 games. That doesn't mean he's a better manager than Dyche overall, just a better fit atm maybe
With West Ham he averaged 1.33 points per game - that's 50 points in s season. That's pretty good. Could he sustain that here? Who knows but 1.33 would be better than current form and maybe just maybe keep us up.

I think we've had the best of him.......all his youthful enthusiasm etc!
He probably won't want to re-build from scratch again.

We were lucky to have him,....... but i'm looking forward to what's next.

Just googled Diego Martinez and he certainly looks interesting. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon. If we win tomorrow night I’ll start to believe we can do it.
