Bob Lorders missing last night?

Post by Superjohnnyfrancis » Fri Apr 22, 2022 1:48 pm

Watching the game last night i noticed a big section of the crowd missing from the stand on the left near the front, was this on purpose or just lots of empty seats?

A lot of 100 club members sit in this area along with 1882 lounge pay per match customers. I would guess the 1882 lounge was rather quiet last night. Maybe more seats will be sold for Sunday after last nights win?

100 club (called something else now) is just shy of £1900 per season and 1882 is either £100 or £150 per game depending on category of match.

The Bob Lord has largely been populated with away fans this season, so it's not surprising to me that it looked empty when purchasing an away ticket wasn't a problem.

Though away fans in there has been an issue all season, I was using a touch of hyperbole.

It’s usually under commercial dept. I/we go in the main lounge now (trophy cabinet room) we used to be in 100 club which is now the chairman’s lounge they moved us out to accommodate directors and guests.
Choice of two hot meals pre match, cakes etc half time and full buffet full time. Pay bar team sheet and programme. Usual stuff.

Yes but it is a big expense for casual supporters to pay for two home games in 4 days in the current economic crisis which is really starting to bite for many working class folk.

I sit in the BL and granted i've missed a few games this season, however, I can assure you it hasn't 'largely been populated by away fans'.

Well, you've clearly not been paying attention then. Next time you're on, get your blanket nice and comfortable and then have a scan around. I think you'll find you'll be one of 5 (five) Burnley fans in there.

Yes, although season ticket who have renewed for next season could get tickets for a tenner. I took my wife and son on last night in the JHU for less than the price of a single adult ticket.

BL in particular looked very empty. As OP says, one whole block appeared to be missing. Most are ST holders aren’t they? So why not attend?

Wondering if the BLers were protesting about Dyche?

Big crowd if true.

11500 ST holders and only 600 away fans.

7k paying on the gate is a good sign.

No chance 17k there last night. I counted at least a dozen ST seats immediately around me empty.

There was more than 600 away fans surely?

When did it become a thing to not announce the actual attendance?

Yes but has that always been the case? Surely the attendance at a football match should be how many are actually watching the game at the ground.

Number paid = Gate

As I said earlier a lot of that block is assigned for pay per game 1882 club customers. However, there were several season ticket holders missing from that area also.

Probably the best atmosphere of the season last night.

From the premiere BL stand, there were big gaps in every tier and stand

It’s just my dry sense of humour pal. Doesn’t always come across. I’d already explained further up that I was being hyperbolic when I suggested the BL is “largely” populated with away fans. Though I did also acknowledge that away fan presence has been an issue all season which is what caused me to write the post.

Don’t worry about it.

Certain people get the real attendance, not the paid for seats number. Police, Fire, safety etc

I don't know if Claptrappers does, but he is involved with running the scoreboard on the Turf.

There are two blocks in the Bob lord with empty seats. One is where all the directors, visiting VIPs from other clubs and sometimes players sit. Ben Mee and Vydra have been in there a few times lately. John Walters was in there against Southampton. That section is always at least half empty. The section to the Left of them if looking from the pitch is 1882 and club 100 which is usually fairly full but had some empty seats against Southampton. The season ticket holders seats were pretty full.

I would rather see them empty seats filled by school children from the local area. One season ticket sale, one sale in the club shop is better than looking at empty seats.

As I said in a previous post, the reason for the majority of empty seats is the 1882 lounge tickets not being sold. The 100 club or now the Trophy room is sold on a season by season basis and is fully sold out. Having said that some of the Trophy room members have been missing in recent games but nothing like the numbers missing from the 1882 Lounge.
When money is tight and the opposition not too glamorous the 1882 Lounge is possibly a hard sell?
