Do we? He’s only scored one goal this year and we’ve just won 2 games without him…

Our attacking play a lot better with him in. Lennon on the left is a big no no. Oh and he’s our top scorer.scouseclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 7:44 pmDo we? He’s only scored one goal this year and we’ve just won 2 games without him…

Re: WEGHORST
I read the Wolfsburg forums when we bought him and Wolfsburg fans said something similar and didn’t seem too bothered he was going despite a 1 goal in 2 scoring record.
Saying that if Everton lose tomorrow we probably only need 1 more win and we have achieved something incredible and Wout can spend his summer on the beach relaxing and chilling out.

I’m prepared to give him the BOD even if he has only scored two goals.

Re: WEGHORST
People are reading far too much into this
He didn't have a great game. We didn't play to his strengths. The substitution and the Lennon/McNeil switch won the game
He was obviously frustrated but that's not reflective of what he's brought to the club since his arrival. He was immense last Sunday and left absolutely everything on the pitch
He has a huge part to play with both Jay and Max injured
It will all get sorted and everyone will be fully focussed on Villa

Re: WEGHORST
Needs to rediscover his roar that was on display in the video announcing his arrival. To adapt to the PL does take some time and cannot be achieved overnight. Has to accept he is a squad member. All will have roles to play in the final stretch of this season even in a supporting capacity.

Re: WEGHORST
There's now't wrong with Wout Weghorst. He put in a big shift today. He was ready to take the penalty that VAR decided wasn't inside the box. I was surprised when Wout was subbed for Ashley Barnes. There were a few around me at the game who were also surprised that Wout was being subbed. Missing Maxwell Cornet and missing JayRod has meant that Wout has had to get used to playing in yet another front two partnership.
A great win for Burnley.

Re: WEGHORST
I think its a good thing that players are furious at being taken off
He's been an integral part of the side that has taken 13 points from a possible 18 and given us a real chance of survival

Re: WEGHORST
He’s an interesting player, clearly has ability I am just not sure it’s ability that is suited to our team.
As others have said he’s never going to be prolific in this league. Too slow and gets bullied by defenders.
Let’s hope he has a pre season and can adapt his game.
I think we can all agree he’s not really lived up to his pedigree.

Even when we win some of our support has to diss one of our players,....Josh escaped the venom today because he scored the winner....we are a team....back it.

Re: WEGHORST
Folk reading far too much into this because of Gabbidons comms.
He walked around the pitch not smiling, big deal.
He sat on the back row of our bench in a seat where he only had one route out and when we scored the last shot I saw of him he was taking that route with a big smile on his face.
Give the guy a break FFS.

Spent all week planning to play with Jay. Still settling into the league.

Re: WEGHORST
Done very well on the whole, offers the team alot even without goals, he's really unlucky in the box though, he takes up great positions and the ball just doesn't land to him to score. Twice today, Lennon overhit the cross by a touch for a Wout tap in and in the 2nd half when Mcneil played a 1 2, Wout was free for a tap in and Mcneil didn't square it with his right foot.

Re: WEGHORST
He’s a moody so and so but we knew that when we signed him and we know of lots of top, top players with that mentality. Even seemed happy through his sulk when we got the winner so no big deal for me.
The simple reality is, in the games he has played we have a record nowhere near the relegation zone (ditto Cornet). That stat is telling.
It’s fitness and adaptation to the speed of the league why I don’t think we lose either if we stay up, up to the new manager of course.

Was clapping the fans at the end with the rest of the team. Do people really think he'd sulk and not be bothered when we come from behind and win?
Staying up is probably worth about 25k per week to him and his family..

Re: WEGHORST
Seems a passionate lad - I'll take that. Hasn't worked out in terms of goals, but he doesn't half put a shift in. He is a very unusual player (for us), and I remain baffled that he was signed under Dyche's tenure, but I do think the right managerial choice will see him more effectively employed. Good point mentioned above that he'll have no doubt trained all week expecting to be partnered with Jay and that was changed at the very last minute. I've seen enough to suggest that he could be a serious asset for us.

Re: WEGHORST
Haters just gotta hate.
There has been some garbage(lies) posted on here about his reactions.
The video on the Brownhill celebration thread shows him walking to the Burnley fans applauding then high 10ing with Josh before he turns away. Later in the same video he is still there applauding.

Re: WEGHORST
He's wrapped up in the game - gets taken off.
Hes not happy.
I'd be more worried if he had been happy!
Hes played some decent stuff since he arrived.
Though admit to never seeing such a tall player so low in the heading stakes.

Re: WEGHORST
Many extra-tall players have never learnt to jump high because they haven’t needed to. They have come through the ranks literally head and shoulders above opponents and colleagues. Smaller players in the build of a Shearer or Jota are much better in the air and I would put money on Ben Mee being able to out jump Weghorst or even Crouch.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 9:52 amThough admit to never seeing such a tall player so low in the heading stakes.

Not particularly meaning how high he can jump.IWOODLOVETT wrote: ↑Sun May 01, 2022 2:01 pmMany extra-tall players have never learnt to jump high because they haven’t needed to. Just his general ability - or lack of it- in heading the ball in a productive way.
