There was a Villa fan sat near to me in the Jimmy Mac upper. His adult son was about 6-7 seats to my left. Didn’t celebrate when they scored but for a smile. It happens at every ground. No problem at all.

I am moving next season. Not because I cannot control my behaviour but because I want to feel like I'm in the home end when I go to Turf Moor.

Numerous clubs in the top flight won't let you buy a ticket unless you're registered with the club and in many cases you're also required to pay a membership fee to qualify.
It cuts out this issue quite well I'd guess.

That’s fair enough. I don’t think singing, chanting etc should be allowed in hospitality generally to be honest, never mind from away fans.

I also sit in the JHL on the back row right on the half way line. Didn't hear any Villa fans but have had issues in the past with away fans who have imbibed too heavily. Yesterday Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker from the House of Commons was sat with Barry and Sylvia Kilby and Tony Livesey. He had the good grace to laugh when I shouted "order, order," at him. As Livesey observed at the end of the game, "he's come from one madhouse to another". I'm off to rub my back now as I've hurt it picking up all the names I've just dropped!

I know a couple from Boro who were trying to buy tickets for the home end at PNE by phone for their game yesterday, and were told to buy tickets at PNE they had to have attended at least 4 games ... as it happens I reckon they were glad they couldn't get tickets looking at the result

Some Sunderland fans registered with Morecambe recently which would then allow them to purchase tickets when they played there, but they registered in time for Morecambe v Portsmouth and bought tickets for that game so not to make it too obvious.

Morecambe worked it out, saw that the tickets they'd bought for the Portsmouth game hadn't been used so they cancelled their Sunderland game order immediately.

I don't know the workings of our ticket office now but it looks to me as though we might be allowing away fans to register and purchase which is easy for them to do because we never sell out.

Don’t know either Tony. Do sympathise if we’re allowing fans to register before games who live elsewhere but I know several Villa (and Toon) fans who live locally and we’d have no idea they weren’t Burnley fans. Also know non-supporting locals who buy their friends and family tickets for games when their team play Burnley & make a weekend of it. Hard to stop really. A sign of our success which I hope we have to worry about next year.

I like the idea of charging for membership/registering.

I saw Newcastle fans on Twitter a few weeks ago advertising how easy it was for them to get tickets in our end with a few of our fans encouraging them. It could turn out to be our biggest game in years, with the atmosphere diluted down to nothing.

I understand the sentiment that all fans should get along but it isn't practical. If we can't sell all our home tickets, just give away teams the option of a bigger allocation if they want it. A couple of blocks in the Bob Lord with zero tolerance for away fans in home ends? There has to be a better way.

As for kids running on the pitch, it's a cringy trend that has to stop. I know I'm playing Scrooge but the FA has to put a message out to stop it. Start fining players for giving stuff away to anyone running on the pitch, ban / fine parents, confiscate the shirts or whatever.

One is some kids flipping the bird, the other is a pitch invasion which is illegal.

Neither great let’s be honest. But what you might find is that the more players indulge feral kids invading the pitch, and with no consequences in place, a snowball effect happens and this becomes a more significant problem and potential security risk.

Just something that appears quite easy to nip in the bud.

Another kid, presumably his brother pushed the steward to try and release him. Kids follow the example of their parents. The steward should of never of let go of him but I can imagine the abuse he was getting from the father. He probably should of just taken him to the turf jail.

I went on the game with 2 Villa supporting mates. About £60 + beers that wouldn't have likely have been coming the way of BFC.

No hassles, they were quiet, though not even sure why silence is a necessity really. Reflection of the strange mentality some football fans have.

Although I would be naffed off out if jealousy I wouldn't begrudge an opposition fan celebrating a goal if sat next to me. You could argue it would even add to the atmosphere.

Have those that are against away fans being nearby never watched a game with a mate who is supporting the opposition? Either at the game or in TV. Or do you only have Burnley fans as friends?

I do have empathy for those that are sat near to a goading/drunk opposition fan.

I have like others been in the home end at away grounds.

I can also understand that in certain instances home supporters can feel uneasy and uncomfortable about away fans being in the home end with them, especially if they are actively supporting their side and not seeming to care if this is obvious to everyone around them.

The whole ‘Please can I have your shirt’ sign thing makes me uneasy. Especially when it’s adults holding them. I suppose them and selfies are the new autographs. I remember hanging around the tunnel l with my programme and a pen in my Primary School years.

That said, you don’t see players signing autographs during the warm up anymore. It’s selfies if anything.

No issues with other fans sitting in home ends if they don’t act like clowns of course.However walking past the ground about a hour after the finish yesterday there was 4 villa fans walking up who had clearly been in hospitality suited and sozzled screaming ‘championship’at our players and young kids getting autographs Etc, they continued it all the way up past the ground shouting across at any Burnley fan that passed.I’m sorry for thinking this but they walked in the new ale house near the miners I was hoping someone cracked one of them if they gobbed off in there also.

Like others have mentioned, I’ve no issue with opposition fans being sat together, as long as they respect and appreciate their surroundings, which is generally the case when opposing friends go together.

My Sunderland mate has sat next to me in the home end when they played us (NYE 2016 Gray hat trick). He’d been on before with me for non Sunderland games, so people around “knew” him and there were some good conversations had between other fans.
Likewise, I’ve been up to the SOL and done hospitality for a Burnley game.

On the flip side, I’ve been sat in the JML when there has been a group of opposition fans (sure it was Leeds) that did nothing but goad supporters sat around them for the full game where the stewards did nothing at all until a group of us made them get the supervisor

BUT. Whilst we have home and away sections then we should ensure they remain as such. Rules are rules.

Where I sit in the Bob Lord there has regularly been people supporting the opposition in neighbouring seats which doesn’t bother me as long as they are not being antagonistic.

The only time it felt uncomfortable was the Liverpool game when a larger group of teenagers started singing the Jota song etc and if an earlier poster was sat near these lads I can understand that she may have felt threatened.

all the best away games I've been to over the decades have involved being in pubs with home fans before the games with no issues at all. Tribal yes, support your team yes but having to look over your shoulder whilst watching a sport is pretty ******* sad. Unfortunately this season has seen a HUGE rise (understatement) in crowd trouble in every country in Europe and it's getting worse every week. Marseille fans wandering around with machete's in midweek for the game against Feyenoord is a good indication of where it's at at the moment.
