Bloody Prem ref. Followed their rules and gave us nothing and yet we stuffed 'em despite all of it!
Oops, so match not over yet.
Oh hang in, not started yet!
Anyway, I got in early!

Easy game to referee to be honest, we tried to ruffle him, but I thought he gave us quite a bit.

The only saving grace is that his performance didn't much alter the result today.

You beat me to it.
The standard of officiating in the Championship is way below PL standard, from what I've seen this season.
So bad in fact, that whilst I'm no fan of VAR we will probably miss it next season, because I've seen some real howlers in the Championship this season. ("Clear and obvious errors")

And I've seen some in the Premier League this season( clear and obvious errors).

Oh I agree. It's just that there are quite a few who post on here who seem to think that by being relegated we'll get a higher standard of referee. That's clearly not going to be the case. The best referees in the Championship get promoted to the PL.

I’ve seen some clear and obvious errors given by VAR this season

Very fussy, went for some very long chats with the players at set pieces but didn’t add on any time for this. Barnes was nobbled continuously by Burn and didn’t get a thing. Like they know Barnes and decide before the game he will get nowt.
It’s like swimming against a tide at times with these refs, in that we don’t play the same games as other teams.

Thought he didn't always keep up with play - made some decisions from long distance and wasn't aware of off the ball incidents (Cornet being fouled)
Burns with his arms holding players not penalised.

First half he waved Dubravka on multiple times, we had 4 and a half minute stoppage for Joelinton to be stretchered off and the VAR penalty decision. How that only equated to 5 minutes added time is beyond me. Should have been about 8.
He got in the way of the ball more than once and let Newcastle make an awful lot of decisions for him.
Still, he wasn't as bad as last weeks ref though so there's that.

He gets in the way of the game constantly........poor excuse for a ref.
No flow at all when he officiates.

Surprised nobody raised the Guimares follow thru kick with studs up on Tarks knee. No foul given. Lowton got straight red for almost identical contact. Identical except Lowton did not have studs showing

A = 20
B = 20
C = 15 didn't see Collins blatant handball
D = 20
Don't think we can have any complaints about the ref today. Time wasting maybe by Newcastle considering what was at stake for us, but otherwise no complaints about any decisions.
