I am consoled by the fact no new names are emerging. Having said that only confirmation provides peace of mind and allows the planning required for a major overhaul of team, coaches, contracts and pre season & friendlies

If the reported backroom team is correct, I'm a little worried. You can have an inexperienced manager to some extent if the team around them is experienced. But that team is far from experienced.
He’s been a manager for 3 seasons, that’s fairly experienced.

Dyche's backroom staff; were they experienced?

I think Woan had been coaching at various levels for about 6 years and Loughlan about 10 years before joining up with Dyche at Burnley.

Is Thursday a popular day for an announcement? Let's hope so. Can't wait to start seeing some rebuilding work. New transfers in. Links to City and Belgium. Should be a really interesting close season.

How many posters have actually said they don't want him?

Looks like you're on the wind-up again
i said die hard Burnley fans. not the losers who are on here every second. There was some guy on here the other day who stated that when the board was down for 24 hours he must have tried about 500 times to see if it was back up. that is one of the saddest thing ive ever heard. i know its the school holidays but he needs to go out and meet some friends. do they still have youth clubs these days. its no good that he's in his bedroom all day doing nothing. i worry for his mental health.

And another day has passed with just the news of Ashley Barnes fancying another year. I can understand exactly why there are as many doubters on this topic. It's another classic Mr.Micawber moment and we should be used to them by now.

Try not to worry.

Them lot down the road had an experienced manager with previous promotions on his list of achievements and they still never progressed. Where the failure to maintain their promotion push occurred, I don't know but it just shows that even the most experienced managers can't always deliver success.

Whilst I would like us to go up at first time of asking - I accept lack of previous investment means the overhaul we do now is likely to have emphasis on developing players and using the 'moneyball' approach to ensure value for money is achieved and we can sell on for a profit.

It's clearly going to be a different feel/experience to what we have all got used too from nearly 10 years of SD.

Will it be better/worse - I don't know but it will be different for sure if we are losing the players we are.

Just got to accept that these things are out of all of our control and therefore we must try to enjoy the journey where we can as worrying about it won't change anything.

It could be worse. He could spend all day on a football message board pretending to live next door to BFC footballers, pretending to be in Spain, and pretending to be a solicitor. I dread to think what you'd make of an individual who behaves like that. :o

Very odd sort, seems to come on here just to tell everyone how sad they must be to be on here. I hope it’s a persona he puts on for his own humour.

I used to work with a bloke who believed himself to be Frank Casper, even when Frank returned and became manager…

Yep, just seen the BBC NW news item.
Wouldn't have thought they'd run the article unless they were sure of things and that it wasn't just a rumour.

The BBC "understands" is usually a good guide.

Let’s hope he can get his message across quickly. He has a very short pre season to change a squad that’s been together for years and add in the appropriate players.

It looks a huge task for an inexperienced manager, particularly when the target has to be an immediate promotion. I can’t see him being afforded a significant amount of time if things don’t go to plan, either by fans or by Pace, with what appears to be at stake.

I’m really sceptical about his appointment - hopefully I’ll be proven to be spectacularly wrong!

News of the imminent appointment of Kompany also on the Main BBC Sports website as a footnote to their article on Tarkowski to Everton.

All sounding positive at the moment on a new manager appointment. :)

It's on the report, clear as day;

'It is promising to be a busy summer at Burnley, who are closing in on appointing former Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany as their new manager.

Burnley have been trying to resolve some work permit issues, although it is thought the red tape is close to being sorted.'

Have the words 'Burnley' and 'Busy Summer' even been seen in the same sentence before (without using the word 'not')?

No doubt a post that will be derided, but if I was in charge I would be doing my best to coax Neil Warnock out of retirement for a season.
The football surely cannot be worse and the man has a proven track record at doing what is required, often at unfashionable clubs without big names on the playing staff.

Like I said, open to derision, but I fail to see where VK is going to create a winning expansive side with Ashley Barnes up front and no money as appears the case unfortunately.

So will they sack him if we are in the top 8 and have a realistic chance of the play-offs? I would hope not.
Would they sack him if we are below 8th with no chance of the play-offs? I would hope so, unless things are on an upward trajectory re: style of play and players improving.

target of promotion? I don't think that's a realistic target without serious quality being recruited.

target of promotion? I don't think that's a realistic target without serious quality being recruited.
It likely needs to be the target. The wolf won’t be far from the door if we don’t get back up quickly.

The last official words we heard from Pace back in April.

"It is very important to be in the Premier League, that is our goal," said Pace. "We want a level of consistency so that people don’t even question it. However it is not the end of the world if we go down, it should focus us to get back as quickly as possible and make us put our energies and efforts in because it is that important to us.”

Quite clear Pace is setting the target of promotion at the first try.

To be fair I think that has to be the immediate aim for all clubs being relegated. The up side to our new owners not being dripping in money is they need results at least challenging this coming season.

re-signing Barnes, Rodriguez, Vydra and Cork doesn't strike me as a club with money to spend to rebuild and go for promotion. We seem to like kicking the can further down the road.

I predict we'll see either a lot of young players from the u23's featuring, Pope, Cornet and others sold to cover the MSD debt. The £60m+ still owed to Garlick wont be paid, giving Garlick a huge portion of shares back and Pace and ALK disappear in the background with Garlick back with a majority stake.

OR

ALK say ''FK the debts for today'', re-invest all the money from Pope/Cornet leaving and go sh!t or bust at promotion.

It's great saying that, it sounds good for supporters but you have to financially back it up.

Oh 100%

I think realistically we will finish mid table this season based on some decent recruitment.

I just don't see how a club gets relegated with £125m in debts (65 MSD, 60m Garlick) and remains competitive with £50m income. We look more like a Blackburn, Bolton, Sunderland (those 3 went down again) than a Newcastle, Norwich, Burnley of old(3 clubs set up financially and squad wise to bounce back).

If the entire parachute payments of £40m is going to MSD. Who is paying the wages?

I believe Chester recently said Garlick and the others were due £25m+ in the coming weeks, I assume that's the first instalment.
