New Zealand still need to play Costa Rica, so it isn't for the final spot.

I’m sure some are. Unusually for me, I’m not missing it at all. The last few seasons have done me in! I’ll be raring to go again next month though.

I'm the same. Seeing our struggles has drained me but I am enthused by the fresh start we will have. Whether that lasts as the season progresses remains to be seen.
I used to find the close season really dragged but since I've followed Lowerhouse i find it fills a massive hole. Thank god for cricket.

Very poor game

Also disappointed that Rowl(e)s for Australia isn't a right winger

Australia has 3 A's and each is pronounced differently.
As if they weren't unlikable enough.

Wow … clown of a keeper - brought on for penalties - dancing all over the goal line saves the Peru penalty to send Oz to the World Cup

Not sure it’ll catch on. He seemed to be poorly set to save anything….until he did.

Ridiculous.
And why is it OK to place the ball in front of the spot?

As long as its touching the white spot it's OK.

Bit like the ball touching the outside of the line at corners

Daft, isn't it?
Why don't they make the spot a whole lot bigger, same with the corner quadrants?

That’s like asking why they don’t make the touch lines a foot wider.

:D

It's a personal bugbear, but I'd much prefer corner kicks to be taken with ball entirely within the quadrant, but effort vs reward means I've not yet taken it to Westminster.

It is silly, isn't it.
There's a spot, stick the ball on it.
There's the quadrant, place the ball in it.

And there's the touch-line, don't step over it when you take a throw in.

Who makes these stupid rule changes? Is it really improving the game?

It doesn't even need to touch the spot, as long as part of the ball is overhanging the spot.

Aus keeper for the game - 5ft 10 inches.

Aus keeper for penalties - 6ft 7 inches.

Size does count!

Doesn't need to touch the line at a corner, it just needs to overhang the line.
