Not many players I’m gutted to see go, but that’s two so far this summer.
End of an amazing time to be a Claret.
Best wishes and good luck for the future, Ben Mee and a huge thank you.

Love him!
Owes us nothing, probably the biggest legend of my 25 years watching Burnley when you really think about it.
I’m certain he’ll be back one day in some capacity

The best club captain Burnley Football club have had in the last 50 years, since I started to follow the Clarets
Gave 100% effort 100% of the time.

Re: BEN MEE on twitter
A great captain, and a good CB when he was finally moved there from LB, and everyone would wish him well wherever he ends up.
But as a club we need to move on and embrace this new era.
Thanks for all your efforts Ben, and good luck in the future, unless you're playing against the Clarets naturally.

I’m surprised that he is going. Surely we could have offered comparable wages to keep him here if it was the money. We are, at the moment, in a massive pickle. Especially as it looks as if Collins is off as well, by what he’s been saying.

Re: BEN MEE on twitter
I suspect, it’s the change in style the new manager brings and lowering the age of signings. We probably didn’t want to offer him the 3 year deal he will have wanted and he will have wanted to remain in the premdermotdermot wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 8:28 pmI’m surprised that he is going. Money talks, but it can't sing and dance and it can't walk.
Footballers don't half talk a load of old b0llocks to avoid saying I've left to play for the club offering the most cash.

I’m thinking maybe Newcastle
Re: BEN MEE on twitter
I was thinking Forest or Leeds
Can't imagine him moving that far geographically.
He's a northern lad, with a young family in the twilight of his career.
1 last pay day is the aim, I don't think who for or the regularity of playing will come into it.

What a special, special person he was to Burnley and us the fans. He always carried himself with the dignity, professionalism, and class I have now come to respect in the captaincy. Off the pitch, he struck me as a down-to-earth, sincere person I’d absolutely love to befriend.
As the fans have recognized, he will always be a Burnley legend. Wish him and his family the absolute best.

This is the harshness of football when two amazing servants in Dyche and Mee leave the club without the send off they deserve.

Absolutely brilliant player fo us, but he's off for a final pay day, which is right for him and his family, but all this crying at the video.... Come on.

Was Ben offered a new contract at Burnley?
Whatever, he's been a rock. Would be the ideal player to partner Collins.

Re: BEN MEE on twitter
I always thought he was on around £60k pw, but more recently read somewhere it was £72k!! No idea which was correct but illustrates why it would be hard to retain him.
That said, wouldn’t shock me if Kompany was consulted and felt we could spend the wages on players that would better suit our system.

Agreed. Players feel they have to post things like this to avoid future aggravation. Just leave like I have done in every job I've ever left.

Re: BEN MEE on twitter
I’m still surprised he didn’t declare himself fit for the last game.
Maybe he was still injured, but I hate to think he may have protected himself for his big move even if it meant we got relegated.
Not saying he did, but it seemed like one of those hairline fractures that took forever to heal so it is a possibility and the injury isn’t something he has referred to since which seemed a bit odd.

Re: BEN MEE on twitter
Hope to see him back here in some capacity in the future. A top pro and top player. Still think he's been deserving of an England cap over his career. An unfashionable yet brilliant player for us. Over the past 5/6 years you'll struggle to name more consistent centre halves in the prem than him and he's been the key to the good partnerships at the back.
Outside of the top 4-6 clubs in the premier league, Ben and Tarks were probably the best pairing you'd find. We'll never see a back 2 as good for a long time.
Sorry for gushing, made me emotional that video

He was on a load of dough, ageing and becoming injury prone.
Fantastic servant but do you honestly think he will give the next club anywhere near the same levels?

Re: BEN MEE on twitter
Laughable seeing the resentment on here even towards a player like Ben Mee.
Such a shame to see high levels of jealousy towards him, so people really don't like people doing well in life. Lets hope all those bitter towards him have never wished the club to get rid of a player or ever left a job for more money. I take it they are all still doing the same job since leaving school and have never once looked to earn more money elsewhere.
Thank you Ben

Re: BEN MEE on twitter
Simply a great human and an outstanding player.
Anybody who is prepared to block a shot in the midst of flying boots with his head instantly wins my respect..
On the slightly negative side, I thought it seemed a bit scripted and unnatural, to be fair to him though he probably had it written so as not to forget anybody… apart from Dyche.
All the best from me Ben, a claret legend alongside Tarky who’s helped push this club and enabled me to watch regular fixtures I could only dream about.. you’ll always be a claret!!!

Absolutely gutted to see him leave. I do hope he returns one day in some sort of coaching capacity.
Did anyone else notice that there no reference or mention of Sean Dyche in the video? I think he’s off to be reunited with Eddie.
