So you think Mendy has more than halved in value since joining Chelsea ? Ok
What do you mean? Mendy cost 20m two seasons ago when he was 28. He’s approaching 31 I suspect his fee will have remained around the 20m mark.

Apologies I was thinking of the Kepa fee, stick him in the list then instead of Mendy

Wants to make sure he keeps his place for the World cup?
But be barely played last season, and he's 2nd choice for Wales

After his display against Ukraine, Hennessey might well have put himself in prime position to be their 1st choice come the WC.

I can't cope with transfer rumours anymore.
I have just seen Alan Nixon taking credit for the story of 3 lads joining Bolton for their B team.
Is he a parody?

Pope certainly won't be going Southampton, they've signed 2 stoppers today. including Gavin Bazunu for £12m, now this lad has never played in City's 1st team, yet he's valued at £12m following a successful loan spell in League 1, that puts all the talk of Nick going for a similar fee into context, yes Bazunu is much younger, but he's still unproven, whereas Pope has shown for years that he's one of the best in the country.

Bazanu is one of the hottest young goal keeping prospects around.

Says who?
Big clubs only let players go who won't make it. He would be on loan if he had a chance.

He’s been out on loan for the last 2 seasons, admittedly to lower league teams, but maybe he’s decided he want to be more settled and thinks he’ll have more chance away from City

You realise that arguably the two best players in the Premier league (Salah and De Bruyne) were sold by big clubs don't you?

Same manager? Maybe add Lukaku?
What age?
How much sold for?

Yes he probably is, but Hasenhüttl has signed another keeper, therefore at the age of 20 Bazanu may well go out on loan again

I find the whole “pope won’t concede in the championship” and “Hennessy will be really good at championship level” thing quite bizarre. Dropping down a division doesn’t really change the quality of the shots coming the keepers way.
What I mean is don’t expect Pope or Hennessy to look much better than they do in the prem. In contrast, I expect McNeil to look a much better player against lower standard defenders, and if Cornet stays I think he could be league top scorer.

I would hope he has improved a lot following most of his loan moves , quite disastrous if you Google them . Not a lot of positives. But I suppose very young for a keeper when he went first of all to Forest and was soon dropped, replaced by Samba and subsequently sent back to City.

His last season in turkey was apparently quite impressive. Now a full international also.

Salah a year or two older and sold for a similar price after loan spells himself.
There are just examples of world class players, there are a plethora of decent ones, for example Micheal Keane.
I was simply pointing out saying that "big clubs only let players go who won't make it" Is a long way from the truth.

That’s good if last loan successful, only 22 still I think , but sent home from international for misconduct.

Correct, that’s why all the strikers in the Championship bag loads when they move up…….sorry, forgive me, I meant don’t talk nonsense!

Id hope it’s north of 15m with a few add ons.
Pope deserves to stay in the PL, no hard feeling from me for the move.
Hopefully gives us some cash to start bringing a few in.

So when a club drops/or operates in the championship, the defenders are of a lesser quality to the PL defenders, but the strikers are the same? I’ll be honest, I’m really struggling with that one.
Must be some other reason that players who rip up the championship struggle when stepping up to the PL. Mitrovic is a prime example.

Couple of Blackburn fans I know seem genuinely meh about this... Tbf both enthused over Michael Keane and said we'd got us a top centre half with him.

With regards to the fee for Pope, I’m under the impression from the Charlton end that they think they have a reasonably large sell on clause for Pope. This will have to be accounted for in terms of what we finally sell for.
This matches what the Charlton fans I know have been saying for a while:
https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton ... nick-pope/

Norwich fans were meh about Harry Kane. Young players can improve. He has been linked strongly so it’s highly likely he’s signing in one way or another.

Wouldn't be my priority area either, but if Roberts does go we'll need one I guess.
Assuming everyone else stays from our backline, I'd be looking to strengthen midfield and forward line, defence should be fine in the Champ as it stands.
