Barrie was a committee member and former chairman of Burnley FC Supporters Groups. He was also chairman of the Supporters club and was the point of contact for their coach travel.

I’ve known him for years and spoke to him as recently as five days ago when everything appeared to be fine.

He was taken Ill late on Tuesday and rushed into hospital where he passed away early this morning.

Barrie lost his daughter 17 months ago but leaves his wife Lynne and she is in all our thoughts right now.

A lifelong Claret who worked on behalf of fans. A really sad loss and another of my friends gone too.

Rest in peace Barrie.

I remembered the name and then realised it’s from several years ago when I enquired about coach travel through the supporters club. A very nice and obliging gentleman. It is sad to hear this news. My sincere condolences to his wife and family.

A nice bloke was Barrie. His business Dolphin Bakery used to sponsor my football junior football team, Brunlea Juniors for a number of years and he was a good friend of my dad’s through Burnley Referees Association. Always had time for a chat if I came across him on an away game.

RIP Barrie.

Very sad news ... Barry was great fun on the Burnley Supporters Club trip to Ireland when we played Shamrock Rovers in 2017.

Also was my point of contact for away trips on the BFC SC coaches.

RIP Barry thoughts with your family at this sad time.

I feared the worst when I saw the title of the thread, and sadly I wasn't wrong.

I had many good chats with Barrie when I used to travel with the SC. A really top bloke who was always willing to help, but at the same time, not afraid to speak his mind when he needed to.

RIP Barrie.

Really sad to read this. Knew Barrie for several years from being members of 100 club and latterly the Trophy Room Lounge.
Saw him on the last match of the season. Life is so precious. RIP Barrie.

I remember Barrie from many years ago in what was the original 100 Club. Lovely man very quietly spoken and if I remember his daughter qualified as a referee and I recall seeing her down gawthorpe in the u18 games. So sad to hear his daughter has also died! Very very sad. Condolences to his wife Lynn.

I read something on Twitter from Chris Gibson that when the club were struggling, around 2004, Barrie donated all the club's bread for a few seasons. No publicity, no fuss, just wanted to help the club.

What a great gesture.

Very sad news. I've known Barrie for years not only on the turf and away days, but also as a golfing buddy at Baxenden Golf Club where he was a member.
I can only echo the sentiments on here, one of the best was Barrie, RIP.

Sad day for us at Burnley FC Supporters Groups today - I had a long chat on the phone with him just five days before he passed away and could never have thought that would be the last time I'd speak to him.

Please have his wife Lynne and their family and friends in your thoughts today.
