How does that suggest McNeil is leaving before the end of the window? It's basically saying nothing.

Does anyone really believe that a club is going to drop 25-30m on McNeil after the season he's just had?
It reminds me of when Todd Cantwell was relegated with Norwich, there was talk all summer about a 30m deal and it never happened.
Now he can't even get in their team and there's talk of him heading off to Blackburn on loan.
I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if McNeil was still with us when the season kicks off.

I don’t think anybody will pay us enough to sign McNeil, due to his form.
We can make ‘enough’ by selling Weghorst, Cornet, Pope and Collins you’d suspect as it is.

I really hope he is with us. A gut feeling he'll play very well under Kompany.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 10:03 amI wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if McNeil was still with us when the season kicks off.

Was hoping to read this thread and get some positivity from it. Instead I'm depressed after reading how crap Brownhill is and how we are go to sell Pope for peanuts and use the money from Collins, Cornet, McNeil and Weghorst to pay of our debt and start with JRod and Barnes up front.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
McNeil will be one of the best players in the league, no doubt about it. New manager and hopefully other creative players added to the team to take some pressure off and he will thrive. He was mostly really good under Jackson, could tell playing in Dyche's 4-4-2 had just killed his confidence.
Glad to see in the Athletic we will try to hold on to Collins anyway. Would be really poor to sell him for say £25m when he's gonna be worth twice that in a couple of years if he continues his development.

We'll see by the end of August, but I'm confident we will unveil some exciting incomings, let's be honest Vincent Kompany hasn't come to Burnley for the weather has he, and he'll be determined to showcase his management credentials to any potential PL suitors.Firthy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 10:21 amWas hoping to read this thread and get some positivity from it. I think we can get a technically better player than Brownhill, Brownhill is an athlete though, so I guess it depends what you want in that role. Admired by much larger fish? I highly doubt this tbh. I doubt anyone described his as old and past it, you likely got him confused with Rodriguez, Barnes and the others we have.BigChaCha wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 7:35 amI've often thought, 'what planet are you on' when reading a lot of poster comments on this board but the remarks about Brownhill take the biscuit!...
There are some severe delusions of grandeur if you think Brownhill isn't good enough for Burnley football club... In fact, I would go as far as to say that, you know very little about football or our club if you think that!...
There is virtually no chance we can replace Brownhill with a better player in our current position... Zero, zilch, diddly squat... Unless we get lucky with buying a young player but even then, it will take years for them to establish themselves as a superior player... What better to have someone like Josh, who has experienced both the Championship and Premiership, to guide them on that journey!
Brownhill is still only 26 FFS... One of you described him as old and past it the other day lol and he's still 2 or 3 years off hitting his prime... Central midfield in the Premier League is by far the most difficult position to master and he got very close to that at times. He was also never played to his strengths and near enough every outfield player under SD's coaching team got worse over time and they failed to get the best out of him like many others... He is also massively admired by much larger fish than Burnley...
If Brownhill stays or leaves, he's going to seriously embarrass a lot of people on this board!
Brownhill's best attributes are pressing, interceptions, distance covered. I'd rather we saw a player in there capable of passing the ball, breaking from midfield and scoring goals.

Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
No, I did not because he specifically made the comment about our 3 central midfielders with all 3 names mentioned... I'm paraphrasing, but he one million per cent described him like that or similar to 'ageing'... It's not the first time, players in the mid to late 20s have been written off because of their age on here. It's a bit of a weird obsession with many on this forum.I doubt anyone described his as old and past it, you likely got him confused with Rodriguez, Barnes and the others we have.

Eddie Howe building a past Burnley 11 despite apparently unlimited funds is hilarious. I wonder, are Newcastle really that rich? I thought they'd be throwing cash around like Man City did initially, they certainly seem to be taking a completely different approach.

Very easy to imagine Wallace looking at McNeil and Cornet and thinking he may not get a game.
We may see those players both departing but from the outside that may not be the impression and transfers don’t always happen when expected, not least for the money it would take to do a deal. Personally can see us pushing for Twine as a preferred option with more profit potential.
