Almost zero chance a full Belgian international joins Championship Burnley, that’s before even mentioning his wages, unrealistic.

We certainly didn't get the best out of him for the full game, but then again how many of our outfield players played well for the full 90? Especially attacking players, we just couldn't get them in the game.bumba wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 5:15 pmInclude his goals then and his overall game still wasn't good, his goals made his performances seem better than they were. Cornet isn't a striker he's a winger and didn't get involved enough.
If Pope had a stinker for 89 minutes and we was losing but he made 1 worldie at the end would you say he played well?
But what he did bring was being able to shoot, very few in the squad can. Finding space, he was brilliant at it. Making runs in behind that nobody else did.
He would be far better in a possession based side but I can understand if he wants to stay playing at the highest level.

It's just how it works these days at pretty much all professional football clubs. I've chatted with a bunch of guys working in recruitment departments at clubs around the world.clive40golf wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 11:06 amGenuine question & not wishing to cause offence. Most of those clips showed him beat a man, then cut to the next clip, which suggests to me sod all came of him beating a man. His pass percentage stats at the beginning are bang average, so I'd suggest he can beat a man, but doesn't know how to use the ball when he's won it.
A pass on from me.

Just signed one who can do that in Twine haven't we? And it's all well and good beating your man and creating space, but if the final ball is awful it'll generally be for nothing, prime example is Dan James at Utd, he often does the hard part then his delivery let's him and his team down.

That looks like his party trick, to bring the ball from deep, but he probably can’t pass or cross the ball which is a concern considering he is stepping up a division as well.

Not sure about Twine. He doesn’t look that fast to me.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 7:50 pmJust signed one who can do that in Twine haven't we? True, James is a good example of a fast but ineffective player. But my point was more just how good would it be to have someone who can beat a man? Pace scares defenders and pushes them deeper, so sometimes you reap the benefits in different ways.
And it’s something we massively lack. I can handle a striker only scoring 25% of 1 on 1s if it’s his raw pace that created the chance in beating the back line in the first place - I see it as a chance we wouldn’t have otherwise had so can come to terms with it. Same with wing play if we’d still be passing it around on the half way line otherwise.
But obviously someone with pace and end product would be the holy grail!!!

Thanks for that.
So when people criticise signings for being rubbish and blame the manager. It could be his first choice or his tenth choice for that position?
So a manager sometimes really does have to polish the turd!!

No real links with him but I know he was on a few fan ‘wish lists’ - Tom Lawrence heading for WBA according to Nixon.

I think they’ve done well & will be very consistent & competitive next year. I didn’t want Lawrence at all, but think Swift & Wallace are shrewd signings. All are very much Championship players though and would not benefit WBA in the Prem.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 27, 2022 10:35 pmWest Brom are looking strong ahead of the new season

I can see the thought process of signing him, you’d have hoped his 1 in 2 record in Germany could be carried over here (even at 1 in 3) and that he could have fired us to safety.
As we know it didn’t work out that way.
