They need an experienced sub keeper, we need a #1 and he’d have been a contender for that. I assume we’ll have charged them whatever it will cost us to get Muric/our main target.
Essentially we’ll get a younger keeper on lower wages for similar money would be my guess. Some will view that as good business but GK is one of those positions I’d rather have kept Hennessey’s experience.

I would have also liked his experience behind what is going to be a young back 4, or at least a young CB pairing.

Knowing Pace he’ll turn 1m into 3 Man C under 18s, the top scorer in the Slovenian league, Orsic’s brother and a US international.
Almost like swopping football stickers at school, both sides think they’ve won but you’ve ended up with 5 stickers you already had and they’ve got your shiny Premier league badge
I’m only joking btw, I’m actually happy enough so far

What a pathetic cheap shot at Pace. I am pleased like most fans on the business so far and looking forward to more of VK’s signings.
But What hope have the new signings with miserable moaning fans like you

Just wondering, Genuine question.
I’m not one for watching European league football, so when we’re linked with these players I’ve no idea how the leagues they’re playing in now compares with Premiership/Championship/League 1.
Could anyone who watches these leagues, please spare a few minutes to compare. So when we do sign someone I’ll at least have a clue about their level. Cheers

We need a striker now as a priority
Be interested to see what sort of funds we have available for that

With regards to Muleka and Bastien, surely only an absolute purist would have any knowledge of the Belgian league, I reckon most of the people claiming to know the true ability of these types are players are basically watching YouTube compilations like the rest of us.

We probably need two really..
I think we were expecting that Vyrdra would stay, but it seems he's not.
Weghorst gone and Cornet more than likely to go.
That leaves Barnes and Rodriguez.

Belgian football is probably around championship level (perhaps the lower end of that level) in my opinion.
But the one positive is that the style of football there is very technical so it can produce some great players.

I'm hoping Richardson and Costelloe get some game time this season up front.
So at the minute I don't think we need a striker unless he's very good and will be first on the team sheet.
Remember Cornet is still here.

I struggle to watch Burnley and the PL highlights every week, nevermind all the European leagues! Anyone that does must have more time on their hands than me.
I think you probably need to be a performance analyst to have all the data available to make an informed opinion. At a guess I’d say a lot of the smaller European leagues are more equal to Champ standard or below. Even players from top leagues (like the Bundesliga) struggle to adapt, so I think it’s a new world of taking risks for us and hoping our manager & back room staff knowledge/data analysis come good.

I think the UEFA coefficient is a good indication.
English football is currently ranked number 1 in the world. Belgian football is ranked 13th behind scottish, Serbian and Ukrainian football.

Cornet in for training yesterday has to be a good sign.
I think his style is right up Vinny's street...hopefully.
If so, it would be a remarkable negotiation by VK & Pace to get him stay.
The VK pulling power is still very much there.

No point crying over spilt milk but certainly in the last few games, it was the lack of taking chances that ultimately sent us down, not the creating of them.
It seems two of the biggest culprits for this, Cornet and Weghorst can't wait to leave the club, but that's the modern footballer I'm afraid.

Doesn't really signify anything at all. He'd be fined and lose money if he didn't report for training.
Do you think it's a coincidence that Weghorst has signed for Besiktas on the day he was supposed to report to Gawthorpe?

I went to watch a few games in Belgium back in 2010 or thereabouts and the quality was really bad. Outside of the very top teams is SPL level at best. Things may have moved on since then but it was painful to watch Peter Utaka falling over his own feet whenever the ball came near him and he was a star in that league...
It was nice to see Clarets old boy Warren Joyce mind you.

I think VK will turn Cornet's head to stay.
1. He would get limited game play at the likes of Chelsea if as rumoured.
2. Would feature most games at the Turf
3. Could be EPL player next season.
So, more hopes than negatives I think.
We will see.

It’s the hope that kills. I’m in the assume he’s gone and if anything else happens it’s a bonus camp.
I just can’t imagine him staying.

I doubt Chelsea are interested but you will not find any footballer who will turn down a move there because they'll play more games in the championship with Burnley.

Seems quite a lot of cash for a goal keeper but I guess Kompany has worked with him before

Seems a fair chunk to be spending on a keeper at this level.
Maybe that fee can be including promotion add ons etc and with Hennessey bringing in a fee it makes it more justifiable.
Got to back Kompany on this one.

Not that keen on this guy, looks excellent with his feet, passing range is top quality, but looks a bit of a liability in almost every other area.
Hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

From what I saw with Orsic he was a goal scorer as well though. I think he got 19 last season, not sure how many after signing his new contract in Jan though. Agree it’s in the past now, and frankly we should’ve stayed up with the players we had, but would be hard to watch him have a great season and I’d partly hoped we might still get him.
I think that’s a bit harsh about Cornet, he’s kept his mouth shut, been professional and returned to training. WW is a different situation.

I’d be amazed if we spend 4m on a keeper. Especially one who up until the last year had barely played a professional game.

Interesting comments on Jason knight online, a few seem to suggesting that his contract has expired and the year left was an option. Can’t find anything to support that theory. But if we could get him in on a free that would be great business

A couple, had a disaster on his debut for Forest, shipped two really poor goals.
Also started England's 4-0 win in Kosovo in 2019, and didn't look great.
As I said, hopefully I will be gladly proven wrong though.

Against Forest bad keeping for the first, second goal a freak goal nothing he could do
Against England the 1st 2nd and 4th goal not his fault team's up Townley on Sunday defend better, the 3rd a class finish

I do, but given we sold Pope for 10m, an England international with several seasons of top flight experience, 4m feels on the high side.
I’m not saying Muric is good, bad or indifferent. I’ve never seen him play. I’m saying if we do get him I think we’ll be paying less than that or we won’t be getting him.

What gives you the impression Cornet can't wait to leave??
Where has he ever said or indicated that?
I remember him celebrating after a home game grabbing the badge and pointing to the turf saying staying here. All the indications point to him loving it here and he loves the fans love for him.
If we stayed up he wouldn't of gone anywhere if a club comes in now in a top league he may well leave but I don't think he'd be asking to move.
Disrespectful to put him in the same sentence as Wout

Given the fact that the Burnley admin on Twitter are openly posting pictures of Cornet at training - it would seem as though we may have some sort of agreement for him to stay?

I think we were expecting that Vyrdra would stay,
but it seems he's not.
Has this been confirmed?

Hope so, he can potentially give us 20 goals + why on earth are we fuelling the fire, just doesn't make sense, as fans we should be doing everything possible to keep him at the club.

Bastien and Muric sound close if rumours are to be believed.

He's now a free agent as his contract has expired. It's safer to say he's going rather than he's staying at this point.

Oh dear, a goalkeeper who headbutted a player in front of the ref, is probably not what we need.

Dead right. It's arguably the most important position on the pitch and crucial that we get it right. We've lost our 3 defensive organisers and we need an experienced Keeper
