I think this is a good deal all round. Some decent profit considering he only made 20 apps for us, we would've taken that 12 months ago
If he stayed we got more for him January or in the next summers transfer window it would've been a real blow for us on the field.

Also seen 30m ‘reported’ I suppose we are using whichever report suits our agenda. Whichever way you look at it, he is unproven if you take the claret-tinted specs off - it’s a good bit of business.

We've always sold our best players and moved on. He wanted to play in Premier League fair play to him. Let's trust Vincent to buy wisely with the money, and sell em on again, when a big club/fee comes in for them.

Only true if the fee isn’t reinvested. All depends on how much time you want to give the club to spend it on new players. If it’s hours or minutes, then you have a point…. If the money simply disappears and we don’t see anymore incomings, then it will turn out you are right. Only time will tell you that.
We shall see, but I know where my money is….

Love the supporters views who have no insight into how the club is run or how football works.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 5:03 pmSo we rejected £20 million as we wanted £30 million and then we have sold him for £20.5 million.
It is becoming a joke. It is obvious he was off, that isn’t the issue, but to get only £20.5 million for him, and only around £12 million for pope is laughable.
Something is clearly wrong at the club and it is worrying. We should have made well over £50 million out of them 2, instead we made only £32-33 million. something is desperately wrong.
Don’t you think Mr Pace would have tried to get the most for the players or do you think Newcastle and Wolves have put bids in and we’ve just accepted the first or any offer?
What us fans think players are worth and what clubs are willing to pay are very different.

Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
A shame as I wanted to see him grow as a player with us. No doubt in my mind he'll be up there as one of the best in a few years as he's got everything, just missing lengthy experience. Fairly obvious he was going weeks ago when he was interviewed. I think most people know that when a player says "who knows?", they're on their way.

As Ric states above, he basically knew he was off some weeks ago.
As for demanding 30,40m for him, who was going to pay that? Clearly only Wolves were interested in him so we were hardly in a position to demand an outrageous fee.
A reasonably good player for us, but he could turn out to be the next Phil Jones rather than the next Beckenbauer

You stated recently that the club would sell Collins for less than we paid for him and when they actually sell him for £20.5 million you're now complaining it isn't enough.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 5:03 pmSo we rejected £20 million as we wanted £30 million and then we have sold him for £20.5 million.

Jason O’Connor claims Collins had a relegation release clause. I doubt many of those tend to be for astronomical sums or they’d defeat the object.
Maybe that was one of the conditions of him signing for us.

Good for him. We made a tidy profit and continue to show young players we will give them a chance to develop and then not stand in their way if bigger fish come calling.

We may be disappointed at the sale of Collins, but we shouldn't be surprised.
This sale epitomises the ALK business model. Buy ( or bring through the youth system ) promising young players, develop them, then sell them at a profit.

Sorry Mr oblivious.
PSG spent £170m on Mbappe, we spent £170m on Alan Pace.
I was whining about the finances 18 months ago, and here's why..... selling our players to pay for debts.

We lost the spine of our team in Mee, Tarks and Pope, and now we've lost the very decent back up
I think THB will be more than fine, but he's only on loan, and I'm sure the others will be fine in time, but its asking a lot for them to fill the boots of the really great players we have lost straight away
And I wish people would stop saying people are being pessimistic because they are looking at stuff realistically
We don't have a choice to do it any other way btw, and we are putting a huge amount of trust and faith in the management team

We’ve needed a clear out for a number of seasons and relegation has been the catalyst for this and then relegation means you lose your best assets.
VK won’t perform a miracle over night but how about we give the new ownership and management team a chance?

Just wondering if anybody on here has a nice house for sale. Say around a million pounds. I want one with a bit of land attached that does not have planning permission at the moment. Once I get the house I want to build 4 houses on the lot. My offer is to give you 100k deposit and then pay you the remaining 900k when I get the planning permission. If the planning application is turned down then I will want you to loan me 900k to fund my payment of the balance due to you. Sounds fair enough deal to me. Oh and the price must include the 5 pieces of artwork In your lounge that currently have an estimated value of 100k each

Would you rather:
a) still be owned by Garlic etc, have Dyche as manager and have scraped PL survival last season and have signed no one so far, lost the OOC players and no new signings on the horizon
Or
b) be in the position we are in now.
I’m definitely in the B camp.

Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
It's worth remembering that, Jay Rodriguez aside, none of our players are from Burnley or support the club. They're professionals at the end of the day, and if they have an opportunity to advance their careers, they will do. Collins is just the latest in a long line and he certainly won't be the last. I'd expect a few more to move to Premier League clubs before the window closes.
For the players we had/have who are definitely good enough to play in the PL, it's a big ask for them to sacrifice that and take a punt on what is a very uncertain project at Burnley, even if it's just for a year. That's just the reality of it.
Burnley were probably happy to sell to bring in some money, the player was probably happy to play for a better team in the top flight and Wolves got a good player with a lot of potential without breaking the bank. I imagine all parties are pretty pleased with the deal.

Best of luck to him - I’ll be watching how he develops with interest. I’ve no doubt that he can make it to the top, time will tell.
A big shame that we’ve not been able to keep him for longer - but that’s the situation we now find ourselves in.
Over to the newbies to carry on our long line of very decent centre halves.
