We are being sent the clues, we just need to put it all together

Where did you hear that?
I like Taylor he's been very good in his time here, I think he'd admit himself he wasn't good last season. Raphina in that Leeds home game spun him inside out, literally had Taylor on all 4s, then cuts inside and the balls in the net with 30 seconds to go and we've dropped 2 points. Looking at Maatsen (our new signing) (who I'm discussing on a transfer thread), Taylor will have serious competition.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 3:07 pmYou are correct that we conceded far too many down that flank, inc. all 3 goals that cost us 5 points in our first two home games. They were not necessarily down to Charlie. Far too often he became the third CB and allowed a MF or Dwight to be the FB. I’ve played holy hell about this on here regularly. The only defender I want to see against a tricky wide man is our FB. Lowton and Taylor are excellent defensively and well off PL quality attacking. It could end up that neither off them start this year but we live in interesting times.
Are you sure Taylor was playing in that one?KRBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 7:02 pmI like Taylor he's been very good in his time here, I think he'd admit himself he wasn't good last season. Steffen has been linked with Middlesbrough for a few weeks, they also let Bazunu go to Southampton. If we get Muric not sure of the keeper situation at City apart from Ederson, is Carson still there?Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 7:41 pmno idea if this will have any consequence for our reported interest of Muric but Zach Steffen is about to join Boro from City on loan
He was generally good before Christmas and at times along with Lowton our best player. He was good at ER at the turn of the year keeping Raphinha very quiet. The home game v Leeds he was also very good until he slips/ clips his own foot as Raph turns him. That goal still should have been defended better by others too. Also the Newcastle second goal, which he is getting pellets for not being fast enough to catch up to Callum Wilson who has considerable a head start on him and is quicker than him (he can’t make himself faster). Kevin Long and Collins are far more culpable for that goal. Like with all our players be it Taylor, Brownhill or others people tend to hang on to the bad performances and very quickly a few suddenly become a whole season. I’m not saying he was great all year but he certainly wasn’t our worst and we will realise when he’s gone that we have lost an excellent solid full back.KRBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 7:02 pmI like Taylor he's been very good in his time here, I think he'd admit himself he wasn't good last season. we conceded 8 goals in our first 4 games, most of them down Taylor's side.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:11 pmHe was generally good before Christmas and at times along with Lowton our best player. Whilst you are absolutely correct it doesn’t fit the narrative that’s being peddled though unfortunately .Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:40 pmDon’t want to get involved really but both goals Brighton scored were due to McNeil not tracking back properly

I would guess a little blue bird.
You are quite right, this is for transfers not general debate… my apologies, though I don’t have any
Yeah I can see that having a chance to be fair.Hapag Lloyd wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 9:29 pmhttps://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/1136781601?-919:978
Charlie Taylor linked to West Ham
As I remember it it was the usual failure to use subs when McNeil was tired. Win that and then Leeds at home and we would have stayed up imo. But hey ho.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:40 pmDon’t want to get involved really but both goals Brighton scored were due to McNeil not tracking back properly
I would be surprised-numerous articles recently about the interest in Brownhill, McNeil, Cornet and now Taylor. Our prize jewels have already gone, the remainder with maybe the exception of Cornet ,are not going to have clubs queing upHapag Lloyd wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 9:29 pmhttps://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/1136781601?-919:978

They have signed Stefan Ortega from Bielefeld, an upgrade on Steffen for sure, he’s been courted by Bayern for a while as Neuers backup but ended up at City now.claretburns wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 8:11 pmSteffen has been linked with Middlesbrough for a few weeks, they also let Bazunu go to Southampton. The Brighton result would have been inconsequential had we not conceded that late equaliser at home to Leeds. Gutting when you can pinpoint the outcome of the season down to such a trivial moment.summitclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 9:54 pmAs I remember it it was the usual failure to use subs when McNeil was tired. Charlie still has 2 years remaining, so we should be looking at around £10m, which if we get Maatsen on loan, and Dodgson penning a new contract, leaves us with 2 left-backs, admittedly both inexperienced, but that applies to most of the side now.
Anyone else read that as Brierfield the first time or just me? Speed reading has its quirks
I said at the time, if he'd brought Pieters on when we were still 1 up, we'd have won that.summitclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 9:54 pmAs I remember it it was the usual failure to use subs when McNeil was tired. Win that and then Leeds at home and we would have stayed up imo. But hey ho.
They're linked, if we hadn't blown it against Brighton we would have been confident and less pressured against Leeds. Win the first, and I believe we would have won both.

Gary Cahill has been mentioned (including by me) cos he is experienced, out of contract (and therefore relatively cheap with no transfer fee) and has played at an extremely high level for many years. And I only talked about giving him a one year deal.
Does not have to be Cahill but it’s a very risky approach to have as little experience in our defence as we may start the season with - especially if we lose Taylor.
In the same way teams marked Peter CrouchVegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 4:07 amHuddersfield have signed Kyle Hudlin....6ft 9 striker from non league. God knows how you mark him at set pieces !

I mean…. £47k a week. I can see why it would be tempting to offload if there was interest. I love Charlie Taylor personally, but 28 with 2 years left and on such a wedge. I don’t think even I’d keep himwarksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:02 pmI would be surprised-numerous articles recently about the interest in Brownhill, McNeil, Cornet and now Taylor. To be fair a new link happened to come through late last night (West Ham) - the guy who broke it also was the first on the Pope to Newcastle move, so there might be something in it.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 7:08 amI can't believe we're still on Charlie Taylor after all day yesterday the thread being locked.
I think this article fails to consider the significant 45-50% wage cut he will have just had though.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 7:01 amI mean…. £47k a week. The Muric link has been there for weeks now, but with forest agreeing a deal you’d suspect a player in would be further down the line that it has beenarise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 7:07 amWe do.
The article you link event names a keeper we are linked with and he’s not the only one.
I’ve mentioned it before but some players won’t be hit in their first year, it’s usually the second season to try and make them stay for a year to get back up. The club still get decent parachute payments for the first year
Was told at football last night by someone linked to city that it was done. Same guy who told me Sterling was joining Chelsea about a month ago
