Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I’ll be happy to see this one get done asap - not that I want to lose him in particular, I’m a big fan - but It was always going to happen and it’s Better now than late in the window, so Kompany can mould his first team.

Cornet out and O’Hare in would do for me.

Agreed better getting all the outgoings are done as soon as possible to allow us to then source replacements.
And if O'Hare is signing, Maxwell is one we can afford to sell.

Whilst Cornet would be a top player in the Championship he's not cut out for 46 games, take the money and get some more fresh faces in

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Not sure why anyone would want to see Cornet leave. He would score a lot of goals at that level. Still, seems some people want a total clear out and reduction in quality.

I don't think anyone wants him to leave, just accept that it is inevitable and would rather it happened now instead of last minute.

I don’t think anyone wants him to leave, It’s just obvious that he was always going to. Sooner the better so we can replace him.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We need an O'Hare type in regardless- we've lost Weghorst, Lennon, and Vydra from wide/forward options including backups, and I still have huge doubts regarding Barnes. Cornet out O'Hare in and we still need a wide man and forward.
We had a small squad already. We can't be downgrading and downsizing more.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
If other clubs are interested, perhaps Cornet is weighing up his options before deciding, however why that would be an issue for Burnley or Everton beats me.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Its known he’s got a relegation release clause and he scored at 1 in 2 last season - for most it’s been obvious he will be picked up. I think it’s not a case of wanting him to leave, not for me anyway, more so knowing it was coming and being glad it’ll be ‘out of the way’ so to speak. You talk a lot about being realistic, I think expecting him to leave is being realistic.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
In an ideal world, no-one wants to see Cornet leave.
But in the real world, he’s going to move at some point in this window because he doesn’t want to play in the Championship. So let’s get it done and get a replacement in.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I just meant a replacement for Cornet. I’m aware we need more in. Strikers in particular and a replacement for McNeil when he goes.spt_claret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 2:36 pmWe need an O'Hare type in regardless- we've lost Weghorst, Lennon, and Vydra from wide/forward options including backups, and I still have huge doubts regarding Barnes. It wasn’t a response to you.
It’s realistic to think that Cornet may leave, but I also think it’s realistic that there may not be a club willing to meet his release clause. So I don’t see it as an inevitability that Cornet leaves without our agreement.

Never a chance he was staying - let’s get him sold as quickly as possible (but absolutely not below the release clause price, that’d be a joke) and get O’Hare, Delap and another attacking midfielder/winger in on top of that too.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Not a question of wanting Cornet to leave, but I'd rather he left asap, so we have time to source a replacement
We have to be realistic here, our premier league quality players are not going to be staying as they are too expensive for us to keep and cheap enough for other premier league teams to be able to get them

I won't be to bothered in losing Cornet.
Cornet is a fair weather player who will spend to much time in the sick bay with the championship being to physical for him.

And if no one meets the release clause? He’s our player. There seems to be a very meek acceptance from some of our fans to us losing any real quality we possess.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Ah fair enough. I'd ideally have both but yes, he's probably as good a replacement as we can get.
Dreading even thinking about replacing McNeil, we're thin enough on widemen even before he goes.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
No, I think there is just an acceptance that when you get relegated, you lose your better players, which is what we have seen so far. Of course the money has to be right.
And you don’t think we have brought in quality? Be realistic, we’re not going to be able to bring in direct replacements for the likes of Tarkowski and Pope etc, but the hope is our new players will develop to that level.

As long as we replace with quality (for the level we are at, with the potential to make the step up the PL too), I think that’s acceptable.

He posses quality but lacks the physical attributes required for English football. We would struggle to get 20 games out of him and the majority of those he would pull himself off

Not fussed about Cornet going get it done quickly and get the replacements in. Not sure how many games you’d get out of him going off his injuries last season.

Nixon is reporting that Everton want to pay in delayed payments / cash stages - hence the negotiations. He even says Everton are exploring the option to loan him at first but with a guaranteed buy.
In his piece he adds that we are ready to offer O’Hare one of the biggest wages in the Champ to tempt him to leave Coventry.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I accept that when we get relegated we will lose some of our better players. But I don’t for one minute accept that we will lose all of our better players. That’s ridiculous. If his release clause is met then fine, but I’m certainly not of the mindset that it’s cool to sell Cornet to enable us to buy a lad from Coventry.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 2:46 pmNo, I think there is just an acceptance that when you get relegated, you lose your better players, which is what we have seen so far. Not only are we downgrading in every single position, we are at risk of losing the bond/identity/culture/togetherness that this squad has. We’re at risk of the club becoming a summer football camp and losing the very things that have been key to such a successful period in our history.
