He’s a winger anyway, not sure where he would fit into the squad. Can’t believe he’s on 130k, that’s mental money for him.

plenty of Villa fans saying he is on between 50-70K and nowhere near the 130. Still above our pay grade I would imagine

Goals to games ratio would be useful

Minutes per goal (premier league):
Barnes 290
Jay Rod 305
Mitrovic 694
Barnes 290
Jay Rod 305
Mitrovic 694

Belgian press suggesting Bart Verbruggen will be in England today to complete his medical / signing for us.
Deal worth 5m euros.

Back to transfers..... Belgium press reporting Bart will travel to Burnley today to sign
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Opps... A bit slow there
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Wonder if they’ll try get him out to Portugal and play the full 90 on Saturday with a view to him starting at Huddersfield. Interesting.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
You would hope so if he's going to feature in that first game

A bit more on Muric, seems unlikely if Bart Verbruggen is signing.

Big big investment that is! 4m ish on a young keeper - he must be good. Hopefully will come off like Meslier has for Leeds.
Not sure I’d throw him in to a Friday night away debut game next week however when he has barely met any of the team (assuming he speaks English relatively well they usually do)

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Thats a lot for a young keeper, especially if he's going to be starting a week on friday
Every set piece, against everyone, is going to be flinging balls into the box to see how he keeps
Very steep learning curve for him
I just can't see him starting that first game to be honest

Yes I agree, perhaps he needs a period of time to experience the atmosphere / physicality from the sidelines at firstLancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:29 amThats a lot for a young keeper, especially if he's going to be starting a week on friday

Agreed about Verbruggen. BPF to start next week would be the best bet.

Burnley have been linked with a €5 million move for Croatian Hajduk Split centre back Mario Vušković. The Croatia U21 international has previously been linked with a move to Brentford, and is a year into a two-year loan spell with Bundesliga 2. side Hamburger SV. He made 24 appearances for them last season as they finished third in the table. He’s also previously has interest from Napoli, Celtic and Torino

I looked at their goals per games played ratio and Mitrovic was better than both of them. I wonder how people would view someone who came on here and told us both Barnes and Jay couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo when it comes to goal scoring in the Prem League. Im pretty sure the majority on here would not agree.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 5:21 amPremier league goals

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I’d suggest it’s highly unlikely we will be making him our more expensive signing of the summer to be an understudy for a keeper who didn’t stand out in League one last season.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:25 amVerbruggen will be BPF’s understudy. One for the future

Surely the last thing we need is another CB, even with Colins going, we've got Egan-Riley, Long, McNally, THB and Thomas who can all play there if needed.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:47 amFrom up the clarets fb page so don’t shoot the messenger....

And if we have any disposal cash I'd far rather we put it towards a forward who might fire us to promotion, than yet another young CB.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We ain't spending between £4.25m-£6m (according to reports from last week) on a goalkeeper to get splinters on his backside. He will be thrown straight in. I find that concerning as he is 19 and has played 7 first team games in his entire career, but we have to back the decision and see what happens. The goalkeeping coach clearly rates him incredibly highly, and the fact the fee is so large shows that Anderlecht do too.

If VK thinks he is ready that good enough for me and hopefully from the first match , because BPF would be very much our weak link if he started.

I still feel that we need a bit of experience at the back. I don’t know anything about the player and someone said further up he had signed for Hamburg. I still think the best possible signing we could make would be Ben Davies at Liverpool.tiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:42 amSurely the last thing we need is another CB, even with Colins going, we've got Egan-Riley, Long, McNally, THB and Thomas who can all play there if needed.

BDF must be given his chance in front of a 19 year old rookie.
We have 8 games in a month and we need an experienced goal keeper not a nervous kid

I share your concerns about the lack of experience in the heart of our defence, and hopefully we'll be able to pick up a free agent as the window progresses if that's what Kompany wants.

BFP has played successfully in the Championship and League 1. He’s done well internationally. Bart may be great but it’s going to take time for him to get anywhere near up to speed and no way is he going to start until BFP screws up.

Having thought about this, he was benched at Anderlecht. I’m not sure what will have changed to make him go straight in to our team unless they mistakenly believe the Championship is a much lower standard than the Belgian Pro League?jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:44 amWe ain't spending between £4.25m-£6m (according to reports from last week) on a goalkeeper to get splinters on his backside. My expectation/hope would be that the up front contribution is very small, the guaranteed payment quite reasonable over a long period & the total potential value being the €5-6m reported, with those coming when he starts playing games.
Having said that he’ll probably be first choice!!

I’m sure VK has looked at the ‘character’ of his young defensive signings and decided that they are all strong minded enough for the rigours of the championship. Cork, Brownhill, Rodriquez and Barnes will help them on the pitch if required but to me Cullen and Bastien will ensure that no experienced opposition forward will exploit their seeming ‘inexperience. I think they will all prove themselves in that department.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Perhaps Kompany was planning to play him as first choice this season before he left? We will have to wait and see but I'd be shocked (and concerned) if we are planning on having Peacock-Farrell as our Number 1 after a disappointing loan in League One with Sheff Weds.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 10:04 amHaving thought about this, he was benched at Anderlecht. I hasten to add, it's not my preference this - I'd have kept Hennessey 100% and been very happy with him as our first choice. I think when you have such a young central defence, it stands to reason that some experience in goal behind them would be hugely beneficial. It's asking for trouble IMO having a 19 year old keeper behind a 20 year old and a 19 year old (if we are to assume that it would be Harwood-Bellis and Egan-Riley at centre back from the off - and I believe it will be) pair of centre backs. I suppose the thing I am not mentioning there is that one of Cork or Cullen will be dropping in to support them, and possibly both will be screening them too.

How dare you!!
As this thread shows, we are blessed to have some of the finest footballing brains on this MB and I for one hope that VK refers to it on a daily basis to pick those brains.
I mean where else could you find out who is likely to leave the club purely by someone being able to interpret photos/videos of a players facial expressions?

The goal he conceded at Shrewsbury was schoolboy.
