Re: McNeil & Wood
It would be fantastic business if £45 million were reinvested in the team.
Let's see where the money goes.
And Dwight isn't "shite".
He's a good lad who has delivered some brilliant performances in the Premier League for our team.
Wood's goal scoring record in the Premier League suggests that he wasn't "shite" either.

Both in the best eleven Premier League Burnley players recently voted for by posters on this messageboard - and rightly so.

Re: McNeil & Wood
Heaven help us, one of them is the best young player to come through at Burnley in years who has had one difficult season and the other scored 49 Premier League goals for us.Walkerpool wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 11:18 pmMcNeil and Wood sell for a total £45 million that's fantastic business both shite in my opinion.

Re: McNeil & Wood
I wasn’t a fan of Wood though his record suggests he’s anything but “shite”.
McNeill appeared to have lost his way a little. It’s not a surprise given the expectation put upon him and indeed the work he was required to do that likely limited his obvious skills. Plenty other reasons as well.
With so many inexperienced players in the squad and hopefully youth to come through to the first team in the future - I dread to think how quickly these players will be written off as “shite”.
If we want to develop good young talent and benefit from it, we need to have a bit of patience and not write players off so readily.

Re: McNeil & Wood
Bizarrely, in our new back to front message board discourse, calling Wood and McNeil shite as in the OP would now be considered as a positive post.

Pope was crap as well. Then there's Tarkowski and Mee, surely our worst CB pairing of all time. And don't even get me started on dinosaur Dyche.

It’s been a terrible last 10 years with this useless squad.
Have followed the team from the very top to the very bottom. Let’s hope this new regime is the start of our climb back up the leagues again.

Re: McNeil & Wood
We have some unbelievable “fans”
…..and I don’t mean in a good way.
The disrespect shown for what Chris Wood seems to be based on a fraction of his career with us. His goal scoring record prior to last season was up there with the likes of Wilson who cost Newcastle £30m and was paid £100k a week by Bournemouth and by Newcastle.
The comments about Dwight I find even more perplexing. He is the best player to come through our youth system in many years. His record in playing in the Premier League for someone of his age is incredible. But even more impressive is the fact that for someone so young he has had to take on the responsibility of being our main creative outlet for most of the last 3 years.
Some fans really are in for a shock this season. The you tube clips of some of our new signings are turning a few a bit giddy…..forgetting the quality off opposition and leagues they are seeing. Some of the best of clips for the Benson lad looked like the games were being played at the Prairie - there were no fans or even stands behind the goals !!

Re: McNeil & Wood
Last season Wood pretty much lost his ability to score goals and prior to his sale there was plenty of criticism thrown at him on here and rightly so.
His goal scoring and impact up front prior to last season was one of the main reasons why we stayed up for so long.
McNeil has been getting criticism for his alleged one-footedness for ages, there were regular comments and even whole threads dedicated to it, plus his contribution last season was so poor and pointed out regularly.
Whilst neither are what you'd call shite overall, the fact we've managed to get so much for both based on last season alone is pretty impressive, especially as Wood looked just as poor at Newcastle.
Dwight may well rediscover some form at Everton, but equally he might not, there's no guarantee either way.

They weren't, let's be honest and one even admitted in the media he was in a comfort zone.
McNeil probably needed a fresh start elsewhere to get going again, but either way he doesn't want to play championship football from the looks of it.

Why are you engaging with this troll?
Re: McNeil & Wood
I think the post is harsh but I also agree with it. We so the best out of both players and wood especially has gone backwards over the last twelve months. He won't play many games for Newcastle now. Mcneil I don't think is Premier league material. He would have had a good season in the champions but Premier league unfortunately not. Anyone who suggests he is a premier league player is deluded.

McNeil is only 22 with many PL games under his belt. Should go on to have a very successful career and the experience at Burnley will serve him well in future. Good luck to the lad.

Re: McNeil & Wood
Regardless of Wood and McNeil being on another level to most of what we’ll be watching over the coming seasons, this idea of celebrating fees received is ludicrous.
We’re already borrowing against future instalments of the Wood fee just to fund some small outlays this summer. The McNeil cash will be trickling in over years also, a small fraction maybe going towards another couple of unproven replacements.
I can’t wait for Friday, I enjoy Championship football, leaving VAR behind is wonderful and Kompany seems like a good, genuine man. But all the 1st team players leaving us this summer have weakened us hugely, there’s no getting away from that.

Walkerpool has excelled himself by contributing the two most dim witted posts I’ve seen even on here . Just have to weep in despair at the mentality of someone describing people who have carved out successful careers in elite sport as “shite” , leaving aside those players’ immense contributions to our club in recent years.
