Lots of twists and turns to come. We need greater strength in depth, to ensure we can make subs (5) and keep up the energy. That looks like it will come.

In the end, it is usually, who had the best overall, fittest squad, free of injury and suspension.

I thought both Middlesbrough and WBA looked reasonable, very strong and with a definite goal threat. I liked the way Rivers hung back for his goal and other chances and I liked the way Boro put in those low hard crosses. Can we defend these? We'll see no doubt.

Lets not get carried away just yet about how **** other teams looked yesterday ... it was the 1st game of a 46 game season ... "its a marathon not a sprint" is a cliche but very true.

The beauty of the Championship is the unpredictability and that so many teams are capable of beating each other. We had a very good first performance, that's all. Will be a good while before patterns in this league emerge.

Also much weaker teams in the league than hudders mind you. Rotherham, Reading, Wigan for example have weaker teams than Hudders. Can only beat what’s in front of you. No reason to be scared from any team in this league. Just a last few points to be tweaked, in particular a big center half and a pacy goalscorer.

The Huddersfield fans were pretty clear. However bad they thought their team was, they thought we were excellent. At least one post on their forum said we were better than anything they saw last season.
