How poor were yesterday/today's teams
The standard of passing and linking play was dire in the Championship games
Early days but we looked streets ahead in terms of ability

Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
That’s my take also ! We are miles ahead of anything I have seen this weekend. Miles ahead !
Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
It's frightening how far ahead we are with our play compared to what I've seen, but it could just be a bad day at the office for Huddersfield. If we're putting in performances like Friday on a regular basis we're going to walk the league.
Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
Watford Sheff Utd tomorrow night don’t forget. Two of the teams I’ve put in my top 4 prediction.

We find another winger and a forward and we should make top six easy

Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
The key will be turning that superiority into goals
We can outplay any team but if like Friday we go into the final minutes with a one goal advantage you can't legislate for what might happen from a set play when the opposition commit bodies into the box

Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
a lot of our season will be defined on how we defend set pieces. Luton and Millwall are two big sides just as an example
Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
Boro and West Brom were decent in different halves

Lots of twists and turns to come. We need greater strength in depth, to ensure we can make subs (5) and keep up the energy. That looks like it will come.
In the end, it is usually, who had the best overall, fittest squad, free of injury and suspension.
Fingers crossed.

I thought both Middlesbrough and WBA looked reasonable, very strong and with a definite goal threat. I liked the way Rivers hung back for his goal and other chances and I liked the way Boro put in those low hard crosses. Can we defend these? We'll see no doubt.

It may be dire but that doesn't stop a team from scoring as Dyche proved.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 2:48 pmThe standard of passing and linking play was dire in the Championship games

If anyone thinks we are way ahead of the others then I’d be waiting a few weeks. We will play far better teams than Huddersfield and we will come up against much stronger teams.

Very fair comments. Though I’d also add we were probably playing at 25% of what our full potential will be.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 5:37 pmIf anyone thinks we are way ahead of the others then I’d be waiting a few weeks. Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
Lets not get carried away just yet about how **** other teams looked yesterday ... it was the 1st game of a 46 game season ... "its a marathon not a sprint" is a cliche but very true.
Lets see where The Kompany Revolution takes us.

Agree with you CT , but it certainly was encouraging . Still need a CF and CH .
Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
The beauty of the Championship is the unpredictability and that so many teams are capable of beating each other. We had a very good first performance, that's all. Will be a good while before patterns in this league emerge.

Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
Also much weaker teams in the league than hudders mind you. Rotherham, Reading, Wigan for example have weaker teams than Hudders. Can only beat what’s in front of you. No reason to be scared from any team in this league. Just a last few points to be tweaked, in particular a big center half and a pacy goalscorer.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 5:37 pmIf anyone thinks we are way ahead of the others then I’d be waiting a few weeks. Re: How poor were yesterday/today's teams
The Huddersfield fans were pretty clear. However bad they thought their team was, they thought we were excellent. At least one post on their forum said we were better than anything they saw last season.
