Oh behave. It’s not the colour of the shirt it’s the person wearing it! I happily wore my claret shirt in the pub outside Elland Road and got on absolutely fine with the locals - it’s called respect and these utter belmtards in that video on Twitter have no respect for themselves or anyone else. They’re a scourge on society and football is unfortunately bearing the brunt right now.Top Claret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 12:36 pmI have never worn a Burnley shirt to an away match in all my 50 plus years travelling sway as I really think you are unfortunately asking for a slap

While I'm not condoning the awful actions of a sizeable minority, it's hardly surprising that the younger generations are displaying such anger, aggression and moral inadequacy given the recent and current climate.
I'm afraid as a country, collectively, we're reaping what we've sown, and it will most likely get a lot worse than this.
History is repeating itself.

It was inevitable that there was going to be a bit of trouble. Us and Blackpool have a bit of history in the past.
How on earth did a decision be made that had the CFS with virtually no segregation?
There was no sign of stewards or the Police when it kicked off.
The way the game went brought passions from both set of supporters.
Yorkshire Street seemed blocked with Police vehicles for a good while after the match.
On the balance of things our home game v Beasterds could well be interesting with no travel restrictions in place.

Well in my past 30 odd years of following the Clarets away (nigh on 70 different grounds) I've worn my footy shirt on each trip (apart from a visit to PNE in hospitality) & never had any bother on any of the trips ...Top Claret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 12:36 pmI have never worn a Burnley shirt to an away match in all my 50 plus years travelling sway as I really think you are unfortunately asking for a slap
The ones asking for a slap ... are the idiots who get in peoples faces and seek out the trouble ... not because they are wearing a football shirt ...
Southampton away we went into a Restaurant after the game and sat there with Southampton fans on the other tables and enjoyed banter and Footy Chat ... Its about being decent with other people ... and if someone is giving it "billy big balls" just walk away ...

There was a rumour that we in the CFS were getting booted out for roverrrs visit to the Turf. I can 100% see that on the cards.
I don't sit near the divide and am a lot closer to the Longside.
For the record:
I don't take any drugs.
I have never been arrested.
I am not a football hooligan.
I sing songs at the correct speed.
I am a passionate Burnley fan (home and away) but when we score I manage to direct my excitement towards the pitch where the players are celebrating.
Seriously people need to sort themselves out. It will be all of us who suffer if they don't.
Nothing wrong with banter and singing backwards ans forwards, but celebrate with the team, not the away support.

Maybe there's a reason the police are like that.
You could be slagging them off when you don't know what's happened before you got there.
If not for the police, it could have been far worse by the sounds of things with how the fans were behaving under the culvert. Certain people are not going to calm themselves down or show respect for families and kids.. so appreciate the police there doing a job.

Never ceases to amaze me when I see this sort of moronic behaviour at a game of football!! Sadly, the game is never far from its next disaster and it wouldn’t surprise me if that happens soon enough. A lot of angry people out there sadly, but that’s no excuse and I hope the club deal with this lot!gawthorpe_view wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 9:41 amTwitter link.

I know for a fact going forward the gap between the two sets of fans for the high profile games will be bigger and stewards in the middle will be joined with a full line of police now
Re: Police
The club just need to identify those persistent brain dead’s and ban them - 1 game first offence; 5 games 2nd offence; season ban 3rd offence etc etc… in all honesty, would only take about 15-20 bans for it to be effective.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:03 amI know for a fact going forward the gap between the two sets of fans for the high profile games will be bigger and stewards in the middle will be joined with a full line of police now

I feel so sorry for those caught up in that mess. It's just not on, and I don't care who started it, because there's no excuse. People of all ages should be able to go to football matches without having to be worried about whether they are going to be assaulted or trampled on. The older ones trying to get out of the way were frightened. Decent people find it appalling. Only arseholes can condone such behaviour.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 8:40 amPathetic

Not overly looking forward to Wigan on Saturday if I'm honest which is just wrong...
Getting the train with a few mates and there's lots of rumours going around that the Wigan fans are planning to ambush/ attack as many Clarets fans as possible.
Hope this is just chest beating from the scallies, I go to have a few beers, watch a good footy match and have a good day out.
Lets hope the GMP are on the ball Saturday..

After the game yesterday there was about 150 fans ready for a brawl under the culvert and half as many blackpool lads across the road

Coin tossing is disgraceful. Violence is disgraceful. Racism is disgraceful. What I saw on that (albeit short) video was both sets of fans goading one another.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 11:23 pmYou think it’s right that the women sitting there are “goaded”? Ashley Barnes has done worse things than that to opposition fans.
Re: Police
Recently (last season too) it has been much more than just goading people though. These idiots have increasingly got worse and now spend much of the match running up and down the aisles in front of my seat or across the seats pushing people out of the way to goad which meant it spoils it for everyone in the stand.
These idiots also throw things into the away end, yesterday I saw pies; drinks; allegedly a cup of urine; pyrotechnics all being thrown both ways by these idiots. It is the same idiots every game, they're not there to watch the match, as they don't even look at the bloody pitch for most of the game!

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on who you are), that video doesn’t show any of that. It shows two sets of fans getting a bit over excited.

there's 5 highlighted here who I know ran across seats and barged people out of the way to do what they did on that short clip - I also know the club has much better quality CCTV images to work with. Re: Police
I think this is in danger of blowing a handbags incident into a full blown riot that will be told in pubs for years to come. Also I'd be very careful pointing individuals out on here as hooligans.
Re: Police
would love to, in fact I used to be able to until last season for large parts of the game afterall its an all seater stadium. This weekend I saw very little of the game because of these idiots constantly standing or running in front of my seat.
For the record though, I do think that the club should focus more on the behaviour issues in the CFS than they have on people persistently standing in JHL - that said, would be good to sort it all out.
Re: Police
Why - I have taken the screenshot from publicly available video footage on Twitter that shows these people stood on seats and behaving badly - what should I call them? Brian perhaps, because he's a naughty boy...?

Humour me... which one of the alleged hooligans I identified using a screenshot from a video that IMO clearly shows them being alleged hooligans (as per the definition above https://www.uptheclarets.com/messageboa ... 7#p1893667) is communicating with a steward about being spat at by a Blackpool fan?
Dont worry I'll answer it as I was actually there (yes, a real eye witness as the police would say) just out of shot trying to watch the match - none of them were spat at by Blackpool fans.
