View from a Villa fan friend on Archer
"Not seen loads of him personally but he's our next big thing, bit of a coup if you pull that off. Hoping he'd feature this season, but least there's no option to buy. Came on v Bolton on Tuesday and looked good. Was on loan to Preston last season & did well, strong, quick & good finisher."

Without trawling through the non rumour posts, is the archer deal instead of or in addition to Zaroury ?

So you're amongst the loudest critics on here regarding our transfer activity, yet you'd rather watch on telly than offer your support in the ground.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:11 pmAs I recall it wasn't so long ago that you didn't attend to geographical reasons away from BLM reasons so please don't judge, gate receipts probably make up a tiny fraction anyway in the grand scheme of things so me watching on television or turning up at TM makes very little difference in a financial sense.
Financially your are correct it would make little difference in the grand scheme of things, but now that BLM reasons no longer apply I'd have thought you'd have been itching to get back on the turf.
I do find it highly amusing that the loudest critics would rather watch from their sofas legally or illegally, than make the effort to attend in person, but that's entirely their prerogative.
Regarding our current owners I also express serious reservations, but for better or worse we're stuck with them for the foreseeable future.
And for your info I will be down for Norwich in a couple of weeks, so perhaps I'll see you there.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He played the Harwood-Bellis role at Shrewsbury and was on the whole neat and tidy but didn't have the drive of THB as was immediately clear when THB came on late in the game. Of course it was his first game for us and it's likely he was being (probably asked to be) cautious. The Shrewsbury forwards offered little but he mostly dealt with that well and also fitted in with passing system we have.

It makes no difference if I'm watching them at home in the ground or on the moon, I don't wish to talk about the finances or the owners on this thread & will offer input when transfer targets emerge in terms of discussing VKs system & possible deployed formations.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 8:59 amSo you're amongst the loudest critics on here regarding our transfer activity, yet you'd rather watch on telly than offer your support in the ground.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I think part of this phenomenon is tv coverage as opposed to attending. At the ground it really doesn’t make much difference whether we are in the top tier or tier 4. The experience is largely the same. You turn up. You chat to those around you. You watch the game. You comment on it. You cheer. Then you go home… happiness largely based on the match you’ve just seen and the result. Armchair supporters are in critic mode just like the pundits… they see this criticism as watching football not actually supporting at all. Largely because they can’t support from an armchair only critique.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 8:59 amSo you're amongst the loudest critics on here regarding our transfer activity, yet you'd rather watch on telly than offer your support in the ground.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Archer is class, really impressed me when I saw Preston on TV. They were utterly reliant on his movement and pace, very static/poor side but he gave them an explosion of energy.
He’s literally EXACTLY what this team needs in it’s forward line.

Did you attend Turf Moor for the first time in 30 years for the Luton fixture? If so, it's probably not the best idea criticising people for not attending games.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 8:59 amSo you're amongst the loudest critics on here regarding our transfer activity, yet you'd rather watch on telly than offer your support in the ground.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Agree, but does it really matter if people do or don't, I don't see why some people are criticised for watching football on TV when some prefer to, single dads might not be able to get child minders, maybe they can't afford it, maybe people have social phobias triggering anxiety when in large groups, the list of reasons why people might prefer the TV is numerous.

Yes I did, but that's mainly due to the travel involved amongst other reasons, if I lived nearer I would attend much more.
Now my circumstances allow I will be attending more, though not every week for the reasons stated.
It's not them not attending games as such, it's their constant negativity that grates.

Cameron Archer would be a good capture, scored 7 in 20 well on loan at PNE last season, and knows this league, almost certainly would only be a loan, but we need another striking option, and he fits the bill perfectly in my view.

Very much seems we want a few 5m players rather than 1 10m player

Seems a lot of money that for an inexperienced cb, kouyate would cost around 7mil, surely that makes more sense
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We've seen that once we get priced out "we move on" to other targets, they become public knowledge then all of a sudden our 1st target ends up here.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:34 amSeems a lot of money that for an inexperienced cb, kouyate would cost around 7mil, surely that makes more sense
A lot of smoke and mirrors, I think we are using the media more to our advantage than in previous years.

The only two in the squad that look to have Premiership potential are on loan for a reason. While it would be nice to think there is a world out there too stupid to know the value of its assets - I’m not sure it represents any kind of reality.

Think its impossible to judge after five games on who might be capable of playing at a higher level, who will be a solid championship player and who is not going to work out tbfClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 11:01 amThe only two in the squad that look to have Premiership potential are on loan for a reason. You can't be 100% sure no but based on the 5 games & the fact that the players that have impressed the most have only been allowed to go out on a loan arrangement & not permanent would support that view despite not being completely certain.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 11:14 amThink its impossible to judge after five games on who might be capable of playing at a higher level, who will be a solid championship player and who is not going to work out tbf

It's extremely optimistic to use that isolated example & suggest the same will happen here it could but it's unlikely, we should be at or nearing the stage now where some sort of idea is there where we can reasonably determine/establish the new players abilities without being 100% or that comprehensive a rough idea should be emerging if there's going to be future promise.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 11:51 amAfter 7 games last season Forest hadn't won, were rock bottom, sacked their manager and looked devoid of being a football team. Working on the theory that half will work out. The £10m player might be as much use as Gary Birtles at ManU.
All these £2m players have a better chance of improving their value as an added extra.

I've never streamed games illegally, no idea where you got that idea from. Please don't judge others by your own standards thanks.
For starters I'd be wary of viruses, second it's illegal, until a couple of years ago I had VM, so watched us on there when we were featured.
Now I've made cutbacks, and been able to set money aside, I'll be able to make the trip south a few times a season, and fully embrace the match day experience.
