Apart from Laws I’m struggling to think of a manager’s tenure that was worse than Dyche’s last 18 months.
The 1-0 win at Anfield was one of the most boring 90 minutes of football I’ve ever endured. That was the point I realised I wasn’t enjoying watching us at all.

Re: O’Neill sacked at Stoke
Even if the club had sold Tarky how does anyone know that any proceeds would have been re- invested in the squad?
We know that there was a fairly large sum of cash prior to the takeover sitting in the bank and that I am sure at the time Dyche like any football manager would have loved to have spent that on team strengthening. We know at the end of 2019/20 season he came out quite publicly and more or less stated that the club were not re-investing in the squad and not re-newing contracts which left him with very few experienced players. We also know that Garlick and Dyche were not on speaking terms in the end so it does not take a lot of imagination given subsequent events to work out why.
Most other clubs when they are taken over these days, some big shot comes in with bags of money to spend, like the bloke at Hull, Forest and of course Newcastle. Alan and his crew have reversed that situation. Imagine how deflating that must have been for Dyche when the penny dropped that so far Alan does not appear to have attracted a single investor into the club save for MSD with their massive interest payments.
We can quibble about the details of Dyche’s reign and the ifs and buts, however the big picture is that in the end he was hung out to dry by the money men.

If a one nil win at Anfield is your low point as a Burnley fan, particularly given how incredible Liverpool have been in recent years, then you are very luckyclaret2018 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 9:16 amApart from Laws I’m struggling to think of a manager’s tenure that was worse than Dyche’s last 18 months.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
A wind up surely. If not then its the most stupid comment on here - well ranking side by side with Shaggy. hahaDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 12:16 pmI think wherever Dyche ends up next he will be likely to fail and underachieve. Football management is far from an exact science and as well as talent it often also requires some luck and things just naturally falling in to place.
Not many managers are successful at two jobs in a row and whilst I think Dyche will do well somewhere at some point in the future I doubt it will be his next club.

Let me get this right watching Burnley get their first win at Anfield for 47 years when Liverpool were the reigning EPL Champions, & end their 68 game unbeaten home run, was "Boring"?claret2018 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 9:16 amApart from Laws I’m struggling to think of a manager’s tenure that was worse than Dyche’s last 18 months.

So for you what makes a game of football enjoyable, just so we know?
For me it's my team scoring more goals than their opponents, although I am happy sometimes with a draw..

I started watching us at the end of Ternant’s reign. Even the 19 winless under Cotterill wasn’t as boring as 2021

Count yourself lucky you didn't go to those games under Cotterill, that can be the only way you would even think something like that

Whilst he may be a bit extreme in his view, there is no denying that the last 2 years or so of the Dyche erea were mind numbing it dull.
It’s ok to appreciate what Dyche did but also to be critical of how it ended.

Think he’s referring to the general vibe and football on offer. At least with Kompany a neck brace isn’t required, mid table or not.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:54 amI assume you will also be critical of Kompany finishes mid table?

Yes we all long for that 19 game run under Cotterill over our best ever manager in the premier league.claret2018 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:17 amI started watching us at the end of Ternant’s reign. Even the 19 winless under Cotterill wasn’t as boring as 2021

People also forget that in the previous season we were the only club to take points off Liverpool at Anfield as they'd won every home game, before and after our match.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:16 amLet me get this right watching Burnley get their first win at Anfield for 47 years when Liverpool were the reigning EPL Champions, & end their 68 game unbeaten home run, was "Boring"?

That’ll be a sickener for the Mackems. Great appointment for Stoke - one of the better managers in the league.

I should think so.
Re: O’Neill sacked at Stoke
Sunderland’s Chronicle reporter suggesting he’s agreed terms with Stoke and will become their next manager.
Their fans are pretty devastated it seems.

Presumed the Alex Neill link was just a contractual terms improvement tactic for him at Sunderland.

must be offering him a lot more money at Stoke, nobody in their right mind would leave Sunderland for Stoke at this stage imho

Some journos also suggesting he’s unhappy with the backing received in the market - though I find that strange as they’ve spent the 3rd highest amount in the league.

I think I’ve just seen someone criticise Dyche for winning at Anfield on this thread.
I’m 41 and it his tenure will be as good as it gets in my lifetime, I’m sure of that.

Add wins at Old Trafford and the Emirates which were just rubbish. Haha Oh and at Chelsea. Pasted Wolves 4-0 away and that was painful to watch. Some real n0b heads on here.

Sky reporting he is about to take the Stoke job leaving Sunderland rudderless in the short term. This fella could end up with more clubs than Fat Sam.
