Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
It's probably already been said but lets not forget that our most expensive (I think) signing and probably the most exciting signing has hardly kicked a ball for us yet. I think Twine will be a massive player for us this season.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Players brought in to bulk out the squad who were never up to the job of actually sustaining a PL position.
And we all know who they are.
OK. That was the club's choice at the time, but my comment was in direct contrast to the reference to shopping at Aldi, and its relative merits.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
There are usually some late signings whereby the paperwork has to be vetted in the morning by FA/EFL. More chance of movement out than in I would imagine.
By the end of the season we can change the chant to:
AI…AI…AI…O, up the football league we go
When we win promotion this is what we’ll sing,
We all love ya, we all love ya scouting team is king.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Obviously, Swansea didn’t need to sell.
Any player we have wanted, seem to have signed on the dotted line in general, which is unlike Burnley of old. Seems we have created a decent proposition with larger sell on clauses. It’s a bit of a risk, but worthwhile one if they can get us back into the Premier League.
Shame we didn’t get Delap, O’Hare or Obafemi… they wouldn’t been great signings if the reports are to believed, but we have enough I think to make a serious go at it.

Really impressive window. Disappointed about the Swansea lad, though. VK obviously really wanted him. Next window?

Good transfer window
But
The lids don’t fit on the coffee cups
There no steak pies left at half time
And don’t get me started on the price of Twix’s

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
201 pages of quite a journey with many a twist and turn, 90+% of those discussed I'd never heard of and I'll admit 100% of those signed I'd never heard of, but I'm sure going to know them from now on, hopefully a few will become UK household names, of course we'll be selling them on and repeating in the not to distant future.
However, a window like no other and don't expect anything like it in my life time, history created and hopefully future fans will reap benefits from this wholesale change and look back on the summer of 2022 as the start of something good.

I suggest they do need to sell but they are strong enough to do it on their terms.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 11:24 pmObviously, Swansea didn’t need to sell.

They no longer have parachute payments and no club at this level can be sustainable and competitive without them or outside investment. Piroe and Obafemi will be sold sooner rather than later and the vultures will be back in January or next summer.
Next summer both players are going into the last year of their contracts and will be worth much less than they are now, it's a dangerous game for Swansea to play and they need to improve their results soon to have any chance of getting into the play offs.

This and the original thread must come to not far off 400 pages in total. It's been really entertaining, thanks for the input everyone.
A brilliant transfer window.
Now it's time to really buckle up for the ride. It's going to be a fun one.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
A weird one that.
Signed a long contract and then went on loan to a club a division higher.
We often see clubs getting players to sign long contracts before going on loan, but to lower leagues.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I think Everton have bigger priorities than centre half - a position they’re probably stronger in than they were at the end of last season. Tarky and Coady, with Keane and Holgate as back-up, is a lot stronger than just about any other part of the pitch in terms of depth.BuryClaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 12:53 amFat Frank will be long gone from Everton by the time he gets to put a bid in for THB.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Perhaps THB will go to Everton in the same way that we signed the two lads from Metz or us and Rovers signed the CB from Liverpool?
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Ridiculous article from Nixon. Everton potentially interested in a player next summer. So many variables at play between now and then. And anyway, I hope there are many PL clubs interested in our players next summer as we’ll likely have been promoted after doing really well!

Obefemi was left out of the squad yesterday, seems he has took Swansea's decision not to sell him badly.

THB is destined for better than Burnley (IMO) so perfectly understandable that some PL clubs would check him out.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
If he signed a season long loan with Burnley, can City sell him in Jan and we lose him? I thought that could only happen if there is a recall option in Jan for City.

THB has been very good for us but I’m not sure he is PL level yet. We haven’t played anybody but Watford with the attack to test him. I hope to be proved wrong.

Tarky and Coady were excellent yesterday.
THB wouldn't get in their side at the minute, but you can see why they would monitor for the future.

They'll be plenty of clubs keeping tabs on THB. While obviously still raw, he has the attributes you want in a modern day CB.

If he's kept himself fit, then that has the potential to be a good signing for them.
