All those moaning about how much coverage this is going to get, well ‘Katie Price Trauma and me’ on channel 4 has been cancelled, replaced with a tribute to the queen.

Small blessings

I can feel the brain cells being saved

RIP your Majesty. You achieved more in your lifetime than I doubt anyone else could dream of doing.

We will mourn you with due respect.

The Inn at Whitewell is technically owned by the Crown, I believe ..

I was at a wedding reception there some years ago, and met 2 young Americans staying there for a music festival. When I told the young lady that the hotel was owned by the Queen, she rushed straight to the door and phoned her mother in New Jersey to tell her ... :D
Along with the rest of the Trough.

I'd post on another thread and spare this one an original thought, but they've all been locked; am I the only one who thinks this theatrical keening is ****ing nauseating?

The Queen always seemed pretty sound to me. The whole Andrew thing was a bit of a dark point but overall she's been a pretty incredible woman who shouldered some pretty big responsibility from a very early age. It's easy to say she was born into her position, she had it easier than most but I don't think that would be fair. I think she more often than not found the right words to reassure the country when it was needed and she mostly didn't shy away from controversy in her family. A one off, no doubt and she will be missed.

Always loved that video of her getting excited about seeing some cows.

Yup, she always came across really well, and the way she has changed the monarchy from her accession to now is nothing short of remarkable

She will be missed

As a servant of the Crown, I too am saddened by Queen Elizabeth's II passing. Utterly outstanding, uniquely brilliant, uniting further and wider than the Commonwealth. I can't imagine the passing of a Head of State ever having such a globally profound effect.

She was brilliant, an outstanding sense of compassion, dignity and devotion to her people, long may she reign.

RIP Ma'am, and thank you for your service.

In terms of timings, the PM of New Zealand has stated she had a knock on her bedroom door from her Protection Officer at 4.50 am New Zealand time, which would be 5.50 pm here.
I suspect a palace official would have rung the PM's office, who'd then have communicated the news to the 15 Countries of whom she was Head of State, but then asking/telling them to " embargo " the news until the formal announcement from Buckingham Palace. It was clear that Biden's Press spokeswoman didn't know in advance as she was told by reporters at her Press briefing ..

I’m sure you really don’t think that. There’s still a lot of nice good people out there. Keep up the running it’s good for your soul!

Well not everyone but I’m certainly more cynical.

Covid made me realise how selfish people are, and not just member of the public, colleagues as well.

Panic buying, clinical staff finding any excuse to go non-clinical sue to some random health issue which miraculously disappeared when unsocial hours were removed from their wage. A bank nurse crying outside of Tesco about not getting fruit, lying to everyone about the hours she worked, when in reality she had worked 12 hours and not with any covid patients, and then she went on to cancel shifts leaving her colleagues in the sh*t so she could appear on this morning.

I’ve a lot of pent up anger about it all. Running helped, therapy didn’t as it’s not an attitude I wish to change. I live in the real world now

Always stay true to yourself but keep working at releasing your anger. I know it's a bit deep but your cynicism will not only affect your happiness but more importantly your long term health. We are all imperfect in different ways.

I’m no royalist, but I like the queen, she’s alright…..considering

However this is getting too much now. I had tickets for bbc 2 live next weekend. Now cancelled.

This feels like the most unbritish thing ever. Being forced to mourn, everything stopping, not keeping calm, not carrying on

you aren't being forced to mourn, just so happens a few places you wanted to go have chosen to show THEIR respect and mourn in THEIR way. Life will go on when people choose THEIR appropriate time to do so.

Do people need to keep mourning in a week? I didn’t mourn my own dear grandma that long, in fact she wouldn’t have wanted me to

I really don't understand why people freely choose to live in the best country in the world but constantly moan, that they can't watch a football match or pop concert, when the world's greatest head of state for the last 70 years has sadly passed away.
Go and live in America or Australia and chase the dream.

Also why are people being told how to mourn.

Surely belting out god Save the king, a minutes silence for the queen, and black armbands is enough?

Why would I move to America or Aus?

That’s a bit like asking a Burnley fan to support Blackburn because they moan about the club. Silly statement.

As I’ve said, I like the queen, I think she’s a wonderful women considering, and a period of respectful remembrance is required.

However, let’s not inconvenience people.

He come across very well and I’m not sure I could have been so brave if someone so close had just passed.

Charles is alright. When my dad worked at calderstones he visited and had lunch. The dignities set out a table for them (MP, mayor, councillor, hospital management) for Charles to sit at the head of. All the patients (or residents as they were called) were set out in rows below them.

Charles ignored the top table and sat with the patient and ate with them. Class

The Queen’s mantra was ‘Keep calm and carry on’.

Shame we couldn’t do the same.
Pretty sure that was Debbie from Battersby, I saw it on her Facebook profile.

Lovely tribute by Macron

It was indeed - can’t help but feel it’s a little strange hearing a president of a Nation that famously celebrates the day that triggered the start of a revolution - ultimately leading to their last ever Monarch facing the guillotine give such a glowing tribute to our Queen but there we go…

Found myself extremely emotional today, I think the mourning and emotion shown from media outlets and folk around me has triggered many issues I am currently facing in my own life, making me realise even more just what the people in my life mean to me.

I see myself as a pretty thick skinned individual but things do get on top of everyone from time to time. I urge anyone who is suffering in silence to speak out about it in some way shape or form. Don’t be too proud clarets.

The queen is dead , long live the king.

It's sad that a person has died.
