Twine
If Twine was fully fit and started the match where would he have fit into the side tonight? I can't see VK dropping Brownhill or Cork/Cullen. Or if he did drop Cork it would be for Bastien again. So how do we think he will slot Twine in?

Re: Twine
I have heard loads of reasons for him not playing. Let’s hope we see him soon.welsbyswife wrote: ↑Tue Sep 13, 2022 11:24 pmIf Twine was fully fit and started the match where would he have fit into the side tonight? Re: Twine
From what I can see and gather with Twine
- missed most of pre season, struggled to match the new intensity of training
- muscle injury after Huddersfield which has taken a month to recover from properly
- last 2 weeks he’s been in full training with the team but VK mentioned he probably needs minutes (didn’t play for the 21s though)
- as we’ve been playing well and picking up points he’s not been rushed back
- VK said he’s very close which surely meant either last night or the Bristol game
In terms of where he’d play, he’d have come on last night either for Brownhill or Cullen (with JB moving back). Just said on another thread but teams that sit back like PNE did are exactly where I’m expecting him to make a difference, sometimes you need a quality long shot / moment of magic.

Re: Twine
If we're going to have 70-80% possession and be camped on opposition 18 yd line looking to thread passes into the box/get low crosses in, maybe Twine is the man for some 18-25 yd shots on goal. If we can engineer space, that is an alternative to passing it back and forth in front of their back 8.
Re: Twine
Could have seen him come on for Vitinho too, with Zaroury moving on to the right and Twine on the left.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 6:32 amIn terms of where he’d play, he’d have come on last night either for Brownhill or Cullen (with JB moving back). Re: Twine
It’d be for Brownhill for me, though aside from his cameo at Huddersfield, I’ve not seen enough of Twine to form an opinion of him.
He looked comfortable in possession and obviously has a decent free kick in his locker, aside from that though I don’t know whether he’d be a better option than Brownhill in the advanced role.
Aside from a number nine, we are blessed with plenty of options which is a good position to be in. I expect over the next few games we might start to see the team changing a little as the cream rises to the top.

Re: Twine
I was half expecting to see Twine on the bench tomorrow. But with the international break coming up, and then 12 games in only 6 weeks afterwards, I'm expecting him to be missing again.
I'd expect the depth of the squad to really come into its own during that period before the world cup, and hopefully we will see Twine and Zaroury set the league alight

Brownhill out in January for £27 mill - Twine slips in seamlessly!

Re: Twine
For me it would be him and Jay competing for the strikers slot given how deep our striker plays in this system

Re: Twine
No sign of him in training on Clarets Player video! Very worrying
Re: Twine
Noticed this, he’d be on the last few as well, surely not another setback.Dodobdobodobo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 10:01 amNo sign of him in training on Clarets Player video! Very worrying![]()

Re: Twine
I'm not expecting him in the squad today.
International break now, chance to be 100% for what is a very hectic incoming schedule.

Re: Twine
Find the Twine and McNally situations very strange.
I can understand re McNally that he may be one for the future but he and Twine are not even included with the U21's. Fair enough if Scott Twine is an injury then I wouldn't expect him to be playing but VK intimated that he was close so would expect him to used in U21's to gain match fitness. With McNally though, surely he would have been better going back out on loan rather than inactive?

Re: Twine
Twine looks perfectly happy in the videos the club put out this week, recovering from a muscle tear (or whatever it was) - he'll be back after the break I hope
Re: Twine
“We’ve had a little setback with Twiney, it is unfortunate because ideally a player gets injured and comes back but that hasn’t been the case.
“We will remain patient and work with him to help him show the talent he has got. The fans are going to love him and we need to make sure he gets delivered in the right way. He is working himself back to fitness and I think I will stop putting a date on it but I believe he will be back soon hopefully.”

Ah ok, I guess that's why he didn't feature for the U'21's or anything recently..RVclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 7:48 pm“We’ve had a little setback with Twiney, it is unfortunate because ideally a player gets injured and comes back but that hasn’t been the case.

Ok then..Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 8:16 pmKompany said it today so it must have happened in the last few days![]()
It was only last weekend Kompany teased us saying Twine was very close to a return and it would be a nice surprise when he did.
Which got aot of Clarets fans thinking he might be in the Preston squad, which was very unlikely I know.
Now after a week of no reserve team action or mentions, we are now told he's injured again.
Must have pulled something too soon in the gym then..

Shame, we could do with more of a set piece threat as a minimum from him
