Final 3rd movement
Jay strolled about tonight far too deep trying to play the Harry Kane role.
slows our attacking play up no end. We get the ball in positions in the final third and inevitably come back on ourselves because of the static movement and have to start again (hence 60% position most games)
Every game bar Hud and Wigan we look like we will inevitably concede a goal.
Be a miracle if we go up

Re: Final 3rd movement
there is a great deal of flair, impressive short passing, tons of possession, but such a wasteful attitude to attacking teams on the backfoot. It appears they can do all the hard work right, but become indecisive and hesitant when it comes to delivering the ball into the opponents area. It gives them too much time to cover our threats. How many times against stoke did we have them on the ropes but ponce about and tap it about needlessly. lack of killer instinct is costing us . we draw when we could win.

Re: Final 3rd movement
We lack skill.
I think managers found out VK after the Huddersfield game. Now they seem happy to let us come at them because 1) we never use the wings so the oppo defense never tire and 2) we don't have the skill to score more than one goal under such means
I think most managers are happy to let us do that all game as long as they only go a goal down as they know that in the last 10 minutes, once they start pressing, we will fold like a pack of cards - couple that with quite a week keeper and especially away from home, a draw is almost guaranteed.
Look at how we go forward when pressed. Panic, missed passes, long balls to nowhere...
As for anyone using the excuse of "we don't concede many" - 4th least in the league I believe - how many points have each of our goals conceded cost us in points? I'll bet it's the most in the league.

We've only lost once and we're 5th in the league.

Re: Final 3rd movement
We had the scenario too many times again tonight where good work was done on the wings, but the box was empty of our players. Not sure if Jay is meant to be that deep, but we really need bodies in there faster to take advantage of the talented wingers we have.

Re: Final 3rd movement
We've lost 10 points from winning positions so far this season We've conceded goals in almost all those games very very late in the game, almost all those goals have come from the left, Taylor needs to play left back its simple, Kompany need to stop thinking he can turn him from a CB into a LB and he needs to do this quickly, okay we're in the play-off area of the league but this won't last until the end of the season we'll finish 8th 10th at best
Re: Final 3rd movement
The manager gets 9 out of 10 for me. He has sold or had to let go better players. All his signings apart from Twine who is injured and McNally who is a mystery have hit the ground running.
I never thought we would get promoted before a ball was kicked. I still do not think we will but so far we are giving it a go.
The passing is nice to watch but we have a striker who because of lack of pace shows for the ball rather than spins and tries to get behind the defence.. we can only play with what we have..
For me I simply hope the funds raised from the fire sale have been used to pay off the debt ...
If we do not go up we only really have Brownlee left to sell and we will be looking at loan players again who might not be quite as excited by a 1 year project...
Obviously VK name will help to attract other young players ...but ultimately once we have lost the parachute payments I think we are more likely to struggle to stay in the division..
Having watched BFC since 1976 it has been more famine than feast ....at least there is still optimism that will soon dissipate if we do not keep realistic expectations. .
I fear when the next defeat comes which may be on Saturday there will be complete meltdown with some ..all teams in the championship will lose about 10 games and probably draw a similar amount ...
There are some that say 2 year project but really judge game by game even minute by minute of a game...
I say let's give VK at least 2 years he has a plan ...with better finance I think he would get us up .. ..
My heart says promotion my head top half ...realistically I would say we may need to get usedcto being another Preston or Millwall which is realistically in the normal order is where we are...

Brownlee? Isn’t he one of the Yorkshire brothers who represent GB at athletics?

Re: Final 3rd movement
We broke a few times last night, when they were trying to counter, and we had nobody able to attack the box when the ball was ready to be played in. Either Jay or Tella have to be playing off the back 3 at all times, it's just another wasted opportunity.
If we keep trying to walk the ball into the net, we will keep getting punished.

Re: Final 3rd movement
we should try shooting from just outside the box more IMO
Always the chance of scoring directly or from a deflection or the keeper spills it
We should have enough skill in the team to get round their flanks to the dead ball line and pick
a claret shirt

Re: Final 3rd movement
I can only imagine it’s what Jays being asked to do, to pull the big CBs out of position but I agree, I was frustrated seeing him out wide, lay the ball off to a winger who looks up and has three defenders and Tella to aim a cross at

Flanks & dead ball line

Re: Final 3rd movement
We are good on wings 14 corners last night to no avail
No quick enough through the centre slows play and we revert to passing backwards
A natural inside forward will improve the team
Twine ? hope so

Re: Final 3rd movement
A lot of people seem to be writing us off already and bizarrely they are all Burnley fans. Opposition fans and managers aren’t. The media aren’t (see BBC report on last night for instance). But for the strange inability to keep out last minute goals we would be top. There is a lot of ‘mountain out of molehill’ talk on here but the fact is we are a good side and probably almost certainly will go up. I’m waiting for the first Kompany out post in here, then we can all have a good laugh.
Re: Final 3rd movement
Jay was too isolated last night. Tella was nowhere near him for long spells.

Re: Final 3rd movement
I think when Twine and Churlinov are fit it will make a difference in this area, I would love to see these two with Zarouri up front.
