BTW Sunderland have a weakened team out today, including no recognised centre forward.

So our most experienced/leader in midfield comes off against brum and we fall to pieces , so we leave him on the bench today .

To be fair we are pretty average defensively every time Roberts plays. And apart from Huddersfield we haven't kept a clean sheet with Charlie in the centre (although I don't think he's done a bad job there.

So frustrating watching Barnes just playing for fouls all day long. Constantly dropping to the floor

Barnes does the hard work then throws himself to the floor. Gets nothing. Plonker.

Barnes is either not good enough anymore or unable to play in this set up, or a combination of the two. His game now seems to boil down to throwing himself to the ground trying (and failing) to win free kicks.

If nothing else it shows the value of certain players and those that aren't up to it.
Exactly no Cork or Jay Rod and we look dreadful, that's a major concern as neither can be expected to play 46 games over the course of the season, but when one or both are missing it really weakens us.

I can’t get on any streams so I’ll wait to see the goals, but by the sound of it, it’s not going to do much to soften my negative views on Roberts and Muric. Vitinho seems far better on the opposite side, too.

I’m trying to give Muric time but I’m seeing far more negative than I am positive about him, week in and week out. Play it from the back, use the keeper, that’s fine but the keeper must still be able to do the basics. There’s less flaps on show at a porn convention than we see from Muric each game.

I've said it since the summer, we look a totally different side without Cork. I know there are a few changes today but we're missing Cork the most. There's no replacement for him and that situation needs to be improved.

Not at all. Cork and Jay are fine, but they are like 96 years old. They need a rest in game time.

Very poor, very, very poor.

Defence useless, to a man.
Muric horrendous on the second goal.
Midfield anonymous.
Gudmundsson non-existent.
Barnes useless.
Wingers uninvolved.

Horrendous.

Taylor isn’t working at CB

Roberts is a liability

I wouldn’t be sad to see either one or both go in the January window.

Biggest question I have is why, if we’re resting Jack Cork, is Bastien not playing? Utterly baffling - especially after we saw this exact issue against Birmingham a matter of days earlier.

Westwood isn't the answer.

We need a solid defensive midfielder for when Cork/Cullen are out.

Barnes has been an unbelievable servant for us but I never want him to play for Burnley ever again. He is not up to it.

Same with Roberts, I cannot see what anyone sees in him. Dreadful fullback

At least 4 players being on played out of position plus Barnes. No wonder it’s poor. TGB has been great all season but his defending has been a joke today

Taylor looks about as much of a centre back as he would as a striker.

Get Roberts off for McNally to play alongside THB, Vitinho to right back, Taylor to left back. Get people into their actual positions.

My mind goes back to when Pope always used to concede to low shots near his body, so I’ll give Muric time.

I’m also pondering all those games we have lost in recent years with Cork not starting, unbeaten this season with Cork starts, but at least he is fit.

More worrying is all the goals we concede from crosses from our left.
